I'm honestly very disappointed in this season. Seems like filler episodes and random things going on. Almost like they don't know where to go with the series yet.
the fact the producers had the tact to NOT do that is probably the biggest testament to their dedication. I would have definitely slipped that in there LMAO
It's funny that while everyone else is focused on shooting each other and "cheating" Tech wins by studying the track, studying his opponents and making adjustments to the vehicle to suit the race conditions. The way you win actual races.
This episode shows that Tech's mutation isn't just "knowing things" his mind can run several high-level calculations simultaneously, even while winning a death race
Something I do like is that this episode also demonstrates one thing that hasn't necessarily been shown as well yet: Why _Tech_ is the Bad Batch's resident pilot. He's got enhanced reflexes and such, obviously, but he's also got the mental capability to process all the relevant information while piloting, particularly in a target rich environment. It's why he says things like "I can do both." Because thanks to all his mutations, he _can._
All of the Bad Batch are voiced by the same guy, Dee Bradley Baker, who also voiced Momo and Appa in Avatar: The Last Airbender. As well as the radio announcer for the Legend of Korra.
I am really glad that Tech is getting more attention thus far this season, and I hope we get more Echo-focus later on, as well. It seems like they may have taken some of the criticism from S1 and used it for S2.
I want an Echo-focused episode where it involves his thoughts on what happened to Kamino, but the writers better give a good explanation on why he never said anything!
11:12 I never knew how much I needed a B-1 battle droid head attached to a protocol droid body doing finger guns. 😂😂 So much in this episode is utterly goofy and weird, I love it.
Honestly I wouldn't have been surprised if this episode was done by George. I mean he's the type of guy to say the droids in the middle of nowhere episode in TCW was his favorite
I love Eric's joy as they introduce the racers 😁 Like 'oh look at him!! He's so cool!' I do that exact thing, and none of my friends respond to it so it's nice to see someone else showing that genuine joy 🙈
Boba Fett is already older than Omega. He was basically a teenager by the end of The Clone Wars. This is set after that and Omega seems younger already.
The Kaminoans probably created her later in secret so they would have a "back up" source of Jango's DNA that they could use as a base to try other mutations. I'd also guess they manipulated her dominant genome to make her female to keep Jango from realizing what they did, after he had his own "unaltered" clone delivered.
I'll fully admit, when someone told me sonic was in this episode, I went in going "oh man I can't believe they got Roger Craig Smith!" I now know where my mind's allegiances lie
Very funny ep. Loved it. Pretty clear what was gonna happen in the end but was still fun to watch. Glad to see tech show off more of his skillset and getting an idea that Cid's backstory gonna play a role for later this season
It's interesting how Tech doesn't outwardly display emotion much. I like when they give the Batch members unique characteristics beyond "the smart one" "the big guy" etc.
I really liked this episode! I just liked the overall feeling with this one. Also this episode had a surprisingly big cast with Ben Schwartz as Tay-O and Ernie Hudson as Grini Millegi so that was really cool. And just like always, the animation is super beautiful, and stunning, especially all the scenes on Safa Toma. The coloring and detail all over the place were really amazing and just so visually pleasing. I also liked the upbeat and thrilling score for this episode. And this was definitely the funniest episode of the Bad Batch, I laughed at almost every joke, especially that “just Tech” joke, that one was hilarious. And speaking of Tech, I really l loved that this was a Tech centric episode, I loved that he is getting more character development throughout this season. I also loved the race, it was really exciting, super thrilling and I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire thing. I also liked all the different racers, they each had their own unique character designs, looks and colors. I especially liked the Protocol Droid with the B1 Battle Droid head like from Attack of the Clones. I personally really liked this episode and all the things they decided to do in it, and I cannot wait to see next week’s episode, I am very curious to see where the story will go next.
I love that this episode simultaneously reminded me of podracing & the Arkham Knight Batmobile racetracks, with the same random pop-up barricade. When Tay-0 was destroyed mid-sentence, I got Regina George George "Mean Girls" vibes as well TASM 2 vibes when the same thing happened to Spider-Man.
CC-1226 (the clone crosshair was told to report to at the end of thq last episode) shares the same number as an unnamed legends clone CT-1226 who served in the battle of Geonosis and given Filoni's habit of bringing legends into Canon I wouldn't be surprised if this CC-1226 is indeed CT-1226 from legends. He featured in volume 3 of the Geonosian Debriefings.
I honestly have never thought there would be redemption for Crosshair. Last season, I thought getting the chip taken out would kill him like it killed Tup, since the Empire "intensified" it. Since he's done all these horrible things without the chip, he really has a skewed moral compass. But you can't deny he is absolutely loyal. It's just unfortunate that loyalty is in the wrong place, and massively undervalued. I think he was glad to be serving under Cody because it was the first time he was treated with kindness and respect since his brothers left. That moment that he shot the Separatist governor was obviously to protect Cody. I think he may leave the Empire, but it won't be because he's suddenly grown a conscience. It'll be because he's undervalued by the Empire, and I think it will get him killed. On another note, I'm loving how the fandom is currently comparing TAY-0 to Regina George.
NOW this is podracing!!! Tech winning the death race in honor of Tay-0 is both beautiful and poetic, his piloting skill sure did came in handy from start to finish. Also, what I love about episode in particular is the sole focus on Tech and WE ARE HERE FOR IT! 10/10 for both the action/character progression of our tech wiz/badass clone. Kyle Katarn and Blind Wave's the reason why Star Wars is my fav franchise in existence.
The second he spoke I knew instantly that it was Ben Schwartz and I couldn’t stop laughing whenever he was on screen. Did not expect Ernie Hudson though lol that was surprising.
The first thing I thought about when I watched this episode was playing Wipeout on the Playstation. Even the music was during the tunnel part of the race course reminded of Wipeout
I could not tell that Mr. Hudson voiced Millegi in this episode; loved that this episode was a bit of a call back to the Episode One: Racer game and that it was a palette cleanser of a sorts after the rather emotionally heavy episode of last week.
Tech remains my favorite Bad Batcher. Directing in some areas was a little weird in this episode, but the racing bits were really fun, loved seeing Tech get to really show off. Also reminded me a lot of the hovercraft races in Beyond Good & Evil.
IMDB didn't have the episode's voice actor names when last I checked, but Millegi's smooth menacing tones make me think it's Geno Segers, who played the heavy, Diego, in Nathan Fillions' fan-film version of "Uncharted", and who also voiced the chief Hekkaro, in the game "Horizon Forbidden West". I know the gang has seen the Fillion fan film.
I really like this episode, I've been hyped to see Tech racing since the trailers. That red commando droid is my favourite racer (besides Tech). Anyway give me a riot racing game.
14:05 small detail i love is that tech goes up the left side before doing the loop, while the guy chasing just goes straight for it. it gives tech that little bit of extra speed to make it, kinda reminds me of hot wheels world race. Vert Wheeler taking on that giant loop at the beginning by driving it like a half pipe
I just love the droids in this episode. I always wondered what happened to commando droids after the war, especially since they are infiltrators, cabable of disquising themselves. makes sense one would manage to find his way where his ridiculious reaction times would be useful. Plus, all the scrap bots are great
The music in this episode is great. The music playing while Tech was being a boss is perfect for gaming. I don't know if Dave Filoni was a fan of Star Wars: Racer but the entire vibe of this episode gave me nostalgia feels for that video game.
I was just thinking about how this show reuses the same types of aliens, and just as I had that thought, it cut to the Douwtin and the Nosaurian, two alien species that haven't been onscreen since their respective debuts. It was a happy surprise.
On the comment on who could play an adult, live action Omega, fancasting (with which i happen to agree) suggests that Frankie Adams, who played gunnery sergeant Bobby Draper (a.k.a. "Gunny") in the expanse live action adaptation would be a very good choice to play that role. And, if i happen to remember correctly, she is a Kiwi, just like Temuera Morrison.
YES! Another episode focused on Tech, keep getting these tophies my dude! Btw I am so glad he kept his armour, when I saw the trailers and he was wearing his "casual" clothes I thought they were going to change his whole design, so glad they didn't! He has (in my opinion) the best armour between all of the bad batch.
I have to assume BattleBots is the American version of Robot Wars. Whenever I think "this is just like Robot Wars!", somebody else always says "this is just like BattleBots!".
this episode has a lot in common with one from an old Playmobil tv show. both episodes have an overly technicle race track. same designs for both of their speeders. droid that another character enters, but it gets destroyed, so a main character has to do it, and wins. I'm not sure if their going to have copywrite issues for that...but it was a very good episode, overall.
Btw there was a chis (thrawn’s species) early in this episode. I think it was when the main crew saw the track got the first time there was a male Chis in the crowd
It was nice to have a Tech focused episode and some foreshadowing about Cid' loyalty. Still can't help but feel a bit disapointed after the amazing third episode. Sure hope said foreshadowing pay off during this season. Also nice to see a Noxaurian. Star Wars: Dark Times is still one of the best comic books from DarkHorse time running the franchise.
11:13 Just noticed, that's a battle droid head with a protocol droid's body. Just like in Attack of The Clones when C3PO's head got put on a battle droid body, and a battle droid's got put on C3PO's body. Nvm, Eric mentioned it later.
I was slightly annoyed at first that it was another filler episode with Cid.. but less than half way in to the episode I forgot about my annoyance coz I was enjoying it so much! As much as I think Cid is a great character I think it's time we weaned off her a bit now and move on from TBB being her workers.. maybe the distrust that was mentioned will steer towards this...? 🧐🤔 But over all.. great episode!
