Please comment any tips you have on caring for baby ferrets!
My biggest tip is just patience, time and not giving up! this is just a general tip for biting, litter training etc. When I first got Suki she was nippy and hated being held. I kept handling her, bonding with her, and over a few months it payed off! She’s become so sweet and placid along with always using the litter tray!
Great video btw, Bryn :D I’m planing on adopting another fuzzie soon so suki has a friend. Thank you for jogging my memory of how to care for kits as opposed to adult ferrets :)
How often do u think you’d need to feed ziwi peak?
@@alliebenner3856Sorry I honestly don’t know. I’ve asked that question before, as it confused me. I understand where your coming from though as you need to keep kibble out all the time but you only have two meals if you feed raw. Hopefully someone else can tell you the answer :)
hi, i brought my 2 month old girl from a breeder. And she is my first ferret, she has been bitting so much and has been making me bleed. if someone has any tips please tell me!
I really want pet ferrets and so I’ve been binge watching all of your videos on how to take care of ferrets!!! ❤️
such a well worded video bryn :) when i got grizzly, he was four months old and the biggest happiest mess. learned he had ece when we got him and it was the worst spiral.. still worry a bunch about it. thank you for all your knowledge
It's day 2 of having my 2 10 week old ferrets, I have two cats, they have met the cats briefly, but I have been putting the cats at the other end of the house while they play in the lounge, they are very bitey, one of them started biting me and drawing blood to the point I wear a glove when I handle him, I hope this doesn't disrupt the bond with him but my hand and fingers cannot take anymore teeth holes I can barely move my thumb. I've been playing with him and rewarding him for playing and be gentle with me, he seems to love that, and IV given him time out for the really bad bites, I don't think he came from good conditions he was in a small enclosure with all his siblings and never handled or introduced to humans. I'm trying to be very patient with him, obviously the biting really upesets me because it is so hard and it is distinctly different from his play bites and his brothers little play bites or "I'm hungry" bites which don't draw blood at all. Should I introduce them to the cats properly or should I settle them into the household for longer? How long should I settle them in if they adjust quickly? They have a minimum of 4 hours free roam daily, we also hand fed them some raw mince and chicken and they didn't bite during the feeding which was good. Its honestly a very difficult process and I don't really know what I'm doing. The biting is extremely difficult 😣
Just thought I'd update for anybody who reads this, they have stopped biting me altogether they are very sweet and I trust them near my face and everything they are very gentle. Patience and lots of free time and handling with gloves if you have to. Punishment or time out really didn't help me at all it made the situation far worse so I only recommend positive reinforcement when they are being good or gentle. Also using clicking noises when they are good to associate the sound with that. Now my very bitey boy knows when he has to be more gentle and I click to tell him he has done well and will get a treat intermittently
thank you this is very helpful, I recently adopt a 2month ferret. he is a ball of energy

Also your really beautiful and remind me of my favorite cousin.
Aw thanks for the nice comment!!!
Not related to specific to this discussion. But how do feel about the Lacey Act Amendment how will affect ferrets and non common pets. And maybe you would share it on your blog. If this passes this will be devastating many pet owners.
Will you be posting a video for the book when it's released?!
For sure!!!
I've been told that hydrating your kibble with broth is better overall for dogs would this also be beneficial for ferrets on kibble
Yep!! You can definitely do that with some nutritious homemade bone broth!
@Pazuandfriends
I need help! I’ve been raw feeding my ferrets, I have two, but recently I had to take one in to the vet due to constipation. One I have realized how important it is to give them a well balanced diet, I tried my best but sometimes only certain things are available to me but I still need help balancing there diet and my vet believes that kibbles are good enough to give a ferret a well balanced meal so yeah. Two, I’m not sure if I need to change my other ferrets diet. Please any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone know if you can you mix kibble and raw diets? I read that it can make them sick, but I'm not sure how else you can wean them off kibble to switch them to raw diets without them eating both for a short time.
What to feed a new born baby ferret ? Please anyone urgent found one near thr road either abandoned or dropped
Hey I don't know if you know this or not but the american competes act 2022 will affect everyone that owns animals that are not cats, dogs, or farm animals and I think you should make a video about this because it could affect people own ferrets because there is a other act in there called the Lacey act which can affect people moving there animals to a different state for medical care because not everyone can get a vet in there state to care for a certain type of pet I thought you should know there quite a few people talking about it
Do ferrets have to be a certain age to learn their name? found a method to teach a ferret to learn it’s name and wanna know if i can do this with mine
Hi
❤
Can you please make video about this current situation. In the US a law is being under review and in it are many other things but one of the things added are the ban of ferrets. If this law passes it’ll be very difficult or impossible to get ferrets in the us and it’ll deny healthcare for all ferrets. Please we need this so spread and try not to let this law pass
Nice video! What kind of probiotic do you use for your ferrets?
I loooove Nature's Bounty Probiotic 10!
@@Pazuandfriends thanks!!

im gonna be getting a ferret soon i got a 3 tall level cage would that be enough?
Depends on the brand
it’s a critter nation actually!
How often do baby ferrets eat
Kits eat 4-6 times a day. They are bottomless pits, so feeding them when they're hungry, feed them. And as Brynn said, kits raw diet is different from an adult ferrets raw diet. Their age group has different nutritional needs than an adult ferrets does. My husband and I have 7 fantastic ferrets all raised from kits, except two of our new ones who we adopted at 3 and 2 years this fall. Our second new ones are three kits that we brought home this summer.
I just got a 3 month old ferret and she just became very aggressive and she bites everything and everyone. Is there any tips? Is this normal? I called petco and they said it was normal for baby ferrets to act that way. But I’m not sure
Yep! Kits can be very bitey! This is how they explore the world around them, play, and communicate! Pet store kits have not been properly socialized and it will be up to you to properly bite train them and continue socializing them. :D
Where can you adopt baby ferrets ?
From a independent breeder, rescue or the pet store
