Btw I have a ferret as well and she doesn't stink at all. The only times there are stink is if there has been a recent poop, or after a stressful situation like a visit to the vet. I think the tip is, don't wash them unless absolutely necessary. There is no need to they keep clean with their oils and grooming, when you wash them, they have to replace the lost oils and it makes them very stinky. It could also be I have a female and males tend smell slightly more, but idk. If anyone is wondering what they smell like, well the poop can be pretty bad kinda like a human one. But they're natural calm happy scent is honestly my favorite animal smell over dogs, cats, bunnies, horses, etc. the best description is like a sweet tortilla chip. Don't judge them, by their pet store or new home smell. When I first brought her home and gave her a bath, she was very stinky to the point where we almost had to return her because I couldn't handle it ( I'm very sensitive to smells) once she adjusted and recovered from the bath (about a week to a month) the smell was gone. I don't keep her cage where I sleep, but that's only because of the random poops and occasional noise. I could hug and sniff her all day if she'd let me 😂.
Also a tip a lot of the Marshall and ferret branded treats and food aren't good for them. Even ferretone and ferretvite like I see you using, it has preservatives and sugars that they can't digest well, so I would use it very sparingly if at all (If absolutely needed for nail trimming or something). Ferretvite has molasses and malt syrup at the top ingredients and ferrets can't digest sugar very well because they're obligate carnivores so its really not good for them. The best treats you can get him are freeze dried one ingredient treats pure protein. Freeze dried chicken, Turkey, rabbit, etc. The food we use for our little weasel baby is Wysong ferret food, definitely should not using marshal food related products as a tip. You can cook up chicken without seasonings as treats and some people give their ferrets raw egg yolks. You should strive for pure protein. And same goes for the chew sticks, the number one ingredient in those is rice flour, and ferrets shouldn't be having any carbs, sugars, fruits, vegetables, processed foods, grains, anything that isn't meat. Wysong is the best food we could find, it still has very small amounts of some veggies, but its supposed to simulate the diet if they eat a mouse in the wild and the mouse had veggies in it stomach.
Anyways those are my main tips! :)

Has urs been deglanded? Cause they are sposed to smell strong

@@katetorode8411 Yes, the butt gland only though. All ferrets bred through Marshal in America (which is basically all ferrets in America unless your really lucky and can find a private breeder) come fixed, vaccinated, and with their anal gland removed as its really the only one you can remove and the one they would spray with. If your out of the American/Canadian area then things might be different. Once they're adjusted, cleaned, and out of the stressful and unclean pet store environment, then they don't smell any worse than a dog or cat. They do have their own natural smell, but so does any animal or even person. It's really no different then getting used to your new dog smell. My ferret literally smells like if you open a fresh bag of tortilla chips with a little sweet musky undertone. I love it! We never bathe her either.

@@XJosieRosieX it's so sad, I don't understand why it's done, wen I see vids of ferrets from USA they seem stoned but I guess it's having no hormones. My ferret smells like ferret, only poofs if scared. I wonder if there's any talk of laws to stop it, like declaring, it's considered abuse over here

@@katetorode8411 Marshal completely sucks, I agree. The ferrets have so many health issues because they get fixed so early in life and are bred in horrible conditions. I really wish we could do something, but they have completely taken over the ferret market in America/Canada. I do wish I lived elsewhere and had access to a healthy ferret breeder so my poor baby didn't have to suffer through so many health issues and so that I didn't support such a toxic business just because I wanted a ferret.

OMG, I really enjoyed watching this video and seeing your Lil baby! The only thing that really concerned me was the vitamin paste that you showed. In reality, a ferret on a proper diet doesn't require additional vitamins! Plus, the first ingredient in that paste is "Malt Syrup". This is essentially sugar in a tube which is why it is popular among many ferrets. Since ferrets are obligate carnivores and are prone to health issues like insulinoma (tumors of the pancreas) ingredients like that shouldn't be fed to these animals. Instead, I would recommend whisking up one egg once per week and offering it to your ferret! This is a healthier alternative to help with furballs and give them extra healthy nutrients! You can also switch up eggs to offer variety. And as far as the chew sticks go, I would also recommend offering a healthier alternative like raw meaty bones! This can be raw chicken feet, chicken backs, or quail frames. This also helps with teeth (the raw bone will act like a toothbrush) and it will help stimulate the jaw muscles! The ball pit is absolutely adorable!!!! :D
EDIT: Haha they are stinky but as long as the cage gets clean on a regular basis, they are on the proper diet (ideally a diet closest to a raw diet or a raw diet) and they have plenty of out-of-cage time (I say at least 8 hours) or they are completely free to roam then the smell won't be so bad! As far as the shampoos and things go, it's not recommended for them (even though it is targeted towards them) simply because it is wildly unnecessary. Ferrets are really great at keeping themselves clean like a cat and so the most that can be done is giving them an oatmeal soak (raw oats in a sock or ziplock baggie in water that is a little bit warmer than lukewarm) This can help their skin out, especially during shedding season for 'em! But in general, baths should only be given a max of around 3 times a year. Bathing them more strips out the natural oils in their skin, causing them to produce more in order to compensate for the lost oils. :D
SECOND EDIT: Ferrets are expensive! I would definitely start a saving fund for these little guys! If you get your baby from the pet store then they do need to be seen by a ferret specialist immediately. They did not come from a good breeder at all and so a wellness check-up + a fecal exam + an ear mites test is a must. I would recommend $1000 per ferret in the saving fund and then after they turn about 3 years old, $2000 per ferret would be ideal. They are prone to so many health issues due to poor breeding/inbred breeding from the ferret mills. Unless you get your ferrets from a private breeder, then they will have better genetics.

Just bought two. Both three months old. They are a ball of hilarious but at the same time its like having two yr old babies roaming and getting into whatever they can.

I take my ferret outside. We have grass, monkey grass, flower and vegetable gardens, and water bowls in the yard. After an hour or two in the yard, she doesn’t stink. She smells like grass, and dirt. Lol, I move things around just a little, and she remembers. Adding an empty box or bag, or removing the one she played with the day before keeps the yard new for her. She and I live in the Florida room, so she has enough room to reach max speed when running through her tunnel, which I put balls in for her to push. She has a small pit, but I have to search all of her hiding places every few days to gather the balls. She loves empty water bottles, empty cans, and a medicine bottle with a few rocks in it.

ferrets bite and can punch your skin easily. If your ferret is friendly is the perfect pet. if your ferret is a bitter, he wont let you touch him at all, and they are ugly nasty animals that cant be handled at all. They can hurt you bad and they are not trusted to sleep with you cause they can bite your face, your lips or your eyes.
