    GREAT JOB! This is such an important topic I wish all future ferret owners will listen to.
    I agree it’s so important to feed a good diet. It will save you in long run because it should help ferrets not have as much in vet costs. Loved your point about putting pillow cases over beds and just washing those!

    Potty Pads! The Lenny Pads are a reusable variety and Roland really likes his thus far, only has one in his room, but will use it up to 5 separate times before swapping them during my shifts at work. I reccomend a separate *lidded* trash can to hold 2 or 3 (poop picked up and flushed with toilet paper before canning) to be able to wash them all together every other day.

    Hi from the UK. My ferret cost me £20 from a lovely home that could no longer look after her. I bought her cage for £50 (secondhand). I get three 350g bags of beef for £8 which lasts roughly a month or less, and I use kitchen roll for her toilet. She's very good at using it 😁 x

    I'm lucky as I work in Vet Med. That being said my tip is Pet Insurance. I'm going to be purchasing insurance for my little guys soon. Key points. Nationwide is really the only one I found offering coverage for ferrets. And the key is you must get the insurance BRFORE they have a pre existing condition.

      How much would you say you spend in a month feeding Ziwi and how many ferrets do you have? Might be helpful for those who want to feed it too.

    My ferrets play with old baby toys like rattles and sensory toys that crinkle and crunch. These definitely aren’t pets to get your kids. I inherited mine from my adult children mostly because they went back to work and I fell in love with them.

    All mine came as rescue. I have 5 now . Vet care is expensive BUT worth it . All mine are happy healthy furbutts . I have a cage ONLY when I'm out . My dogs are not so TRUST worthy LOL. But most days they are in my alcove free but STILL contained. I feed grinds soupie 2x day and ziwi peak mixed with Acana dry .

    Cage free is the way! U really see who they are. I ask ppl, would u put a cat in a cage? It would be similar with a ferret. Their curiosity would be enslaved. I try not to judge but try to at least give them their own room. I have a large crate just for special occasions like having a new baby. I lock her up at night or she would wake me up attacking my feet. She can fit under my doors. And if i try to block it she scratches at the door and wakes us up anyway.

    When I got my ferret I spend over 1,000 this wasn't
    even the final price. You also need money for vet bills.

    I love this!! I adopted ferrets from a rescue who saved them from a testing lab :/ I’ve had them for almost a year. I have two of them and they each have their own things. The most $ I spend on is potty pads (they were eating the litter so we went with pads) and they’re food! They are kibble fed because one of them does NOT like anythingggggg but the kibble :/ the other eats almost anything so yeah… They have their shots but are due for a renewal but I read a comment on here that someone’s ferret went to shock, so, now I’m scared… Thanks for this!!!

    I fed freeze dried raw and for 4 adult ferrets it cost me about $250 a month. The new baby i do frankenprey. Such an easy switch for a baby and i spend substantially less money on her even tho she eats more than my adults in weight. Ty for ur frankenprey videos. U encourage me to try it. Ive been thinking about doing whole prey mice maybe twice a week. Havent learned enough about it yet but im in the process.

You have taught me so much, and I know I wouldn't have been ready for one without someone like you who is not afraid to tell the truth. You are such an incredible person and help thousands of people! Thanks for always posting these amazing videos. Your ferrets are so precious :}

    I have my 4 ferrets in a cage. Only for overnight purpouses. And the savings I have aside for them is insane I have $500 aside for emergency vet visits (mind I'm in Australia so it's not expensive a general checkup is $80 here..) But the savings is a safety net. Just remember. Ferrets aren't cheap. For 4 of them (3 boys and a girl) I spend roughly $100 per fortnight on food alone, thank God for a cheap butcher. But please remember the ESTIMATED is 75g per day depending on age and weight. A 2kg ferret will eat roughly 7% of his bodyweight putting his daily meal to around 100g per day or 1.4k per fortnight

    Hello, do you know the kibble Revolution by frettchen4you? It is a German brand, seems to me of great quality but I would like to know your opinion because I see few people talking about it, I do not know if because it is not available in the USA and more niched in Europe.

    • @Pazuandfriends
      @Pazuandfriends  2 роки тому +1

      I’ve checked it out, it does not stand out to me as a stellar dry food, I prefer less meat meal content. From what I’ve seen it’s been quite difficult to obtain outside of Europe!

      @@Pazuandfriends Oops, sorry, I didn't see your notification. Thank you very much for the feedback. Actually I asked about this food because I am moving to the Netherlands by the end of the year. At the moment I don't have a ferret but I was curious what a good dry ferret food would be in Europe.

    One of my ferrets is obsessed with plastic water bottles. The thinner plastic 12 or 16 oz serving for people. Is that safe for her to play with in your opinion? I'm a fairly new ferret owner and I'm still learning. She doesn't seem to chew them apart or anything so I let her play with them and yes, she has MANY other toys in all different types. She just likes the crinkle sound the bottle makes. Love yoir videos btw I have learned so much from you

    I got my ferret vaccinated for distemper as suggested by the ferret rescue I got him from. I took him to an exotic vet. They gave the vaccine without antihistamine (which i didnt know at the time they should have) and he went into anaphylactic shock and almost died! It was super scary and made me never want to get him vaccinated again. Is it safe to not vaccinate ferrets? I'm now going to a different vet that seems much more knowledgeable of ferrets. Anyway thought Id share this story incase it helps someone else. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

      Honestly... As long as your ferret is indoor only, your other animals (dogs, cats) are vaccinated, and you don't go out much and never handle unprotected animals, their initial vaccines are almost certainly enough. Yearly vaccines are definitely overkill (the antibodies typically last several years). Rabies is 100% unnecessary and should never be given; Ferrets are physically incapable of contracting it (or at least are extremely resistant to it due to their main natural prey being frequently rabid). It's not like someone is going to break into your house and forcibly do a titer test on your house pet - just keep your lips zipped and no one needs to know.
      Coming from someone who's rabidly pro-vaccine.

    Im sorry but i was looking some advice if you're willing are have come across this before. I have 2 ferrets 1 male (chemically castrated) and intact jill who came into season around a month ago and i got the jill jab to bring her out of season but ever since she will not leave the male alone constantly climbing on his back and washing the back of his neck. At the beginning i just put it down to some remaining hormones bit its been around a month now and she is still the same the male doesn't get a moments peace before she is climbing all over him have you came across this before are know anyone who has? And what do you suggest I do?

    • @Pazuandfriends
      @Pazuandfriends  2 роки тому

      I would suggest reaching out to your vet! They may have some good suggestions, sometimes their hormones remain whacky for a bit.
