Love this! A lot going on....maxfield parrish clouds, stylised gal from the 30s, japanese roiling waves...serenity among chaos...wow! from Pittsburgh
Serenity Among Chaos would make for a great title!! I might borrow that for a future print 😉 Glad you enjoyed - thank you!
This video made me realize why my hard linoleum prints haven’t been turning out…and that I’m not crazy!!! Thank u!
Yay!! So glad you found it helpful. Happy printing!
thank you for sharing so many great mark-making techniques in this video! as a beginner printmaker, it’s been difficult to find clear info on how people make certain shapes (like those u-gauge pebble shapes). really helpful!
You're giving me ideas for future videos!! I love textures...and you can do so many different ones while carving. So glad you found this helpful!!
Your process is so interesting to me. I love all the textures in the piece, Erin. Great work!
Thanks so much Patti!!
@@ehollingsheadart it's my pleasure, Erin.

Hey thanks so much for the amazing video, I just found ur channel and love the quality of ur art and the videos. I am wondering what the benefits of hard lino are in comparison to soft?
Hard linoleum prints soooo well if you have a press. Soft lino is easier to print by hand! Also the way it carves is a bit different - some folks prefer the types of marks and the look of a carving you can achieve with the hard stuff vs the soft stuff. And, lastly, the hard linoleum is also more economical!
I would very much like to know about editioning, please and thank you.
Coming right up! ☺️
How many year's have you been carving? Just beautiful!
Thank you! I've been practicing for 15 years!
This is amazing!! How do you keep the block from slipping away? I find its hard to carve because the block slids a bit for me
Get yourself one of those drawer protectors that are sorta squishy foam with holes in it that people put on the bottoms of drawers or on shelves! What paper are you using for the art prints? Meaning the one you sell to your customers.
Hi there!! I am using a smooth 80 lb cardstock paper. Sometimes I also use stonehenge or japanese papers!
Im wondering if layering a piece of linoleum with ink & then transfering the image using white tracing paper would work?
Absolutely something to try!! Let me know if it works!
Does a thicker paint help? I've been using acrylic and it blurbs into the gaps I carve? I don't know how to prevent that!?
If I understand correctly, you are asking about printing thr carving? Get yourself some block printing ink! Will work faaaaaaar better than paint!
@@ehollingsheadart okay thank you! I've never tried anything but acrylic... now to go shopping!
