    Hey Dino. We loved this video for our sahara. What option did you choose for the button on your rubicon x? Would be great if you have a video for that!

      Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. On my 2024 Rubicon, I'm considering mounting it next to the dash mounted light dimmer wheel. There is a decent space to the left of the wheel. I'll have to get a closer look to make a video, when I get a chance. Cheers.

    On my jku, there is a quick drop panel on the bottom of the steering wheel area which gains you access to the electrical wiring under the steering wheel. I installed my brake controller knob and LED light pid switches into that piece. Easy to replace if needed. And cheaper to replace if you do need to.

    My recommendation for anyone renting a trailer is the CURT 51180 Echo Mobile. The fact that it plugs in and you likely use it twice a year, saves a lot of money and hassle. Unless you do the install yourself, you have to pay someone to do it. We have the Tekonsha Voyager 9030.
    I have another issue with the trailer breaks, it is a crude mechanism that performs differently in dry, wet, sandy and city vs overland conditions. This is based on our trailer with a max load of less than 1,000 kg. I adjust them when I attach the trailer and drive home. Along the way, the trailer wheels lock instead of gently break. It is likely due to heat buildup in city traffic. Frequent breaking on traffic lights is bad, our empty trailer is only 500kg (1,100lb). The trailer breaks are maintained and were replaced once. In short, we simply disable the trailer breaks. Ontario requires breaks on trailers over 2,800lb.
    And the famous disclaimer on all the break controller websites: "Warning: Avoid distracted driving. Only make adjustments when the vehicle is stationary."
    It is actually not possible to adjust the breaks while driving with the traffic flow. You have to hit the break to make the adjustments. The only safe option is to disable the controller. That also answers the question where to put the controller knob. It does not have to be in a convenient location because you don't need to touch it while driving in traffic.
    Another 'fun' experience is pulling a trailer on packed gravel roads, downhill. No matter how soft you set the breaks, you run the risk that the trailer will overtake you before these pesky switchbacks. Keep in mind that the break controllers adjust the breaking force based on a motion-sensing accelerometer. The break light simply activates/deactivates the controller.

      Hey Dieter, Thanks for the great information. The nice thing about the REDARC Tow Pro Elite is the manual function that allows you to manually adjust the application of the breaks which definitely would be helpful during off road or unusual conditions.
      Cheers.

    Looks like another fun and useful project. I am wondering if it could mount in the storage tray on top of the dash near the windshield. If so, it would likely be pretty much invisible.

      @CheaperJeeperTV  2 роки тому

      Hey Randy, Thanks. I’m sure there could be a way to mount it up in there but the way the REDARC Tow Pro Elite works, I’ll want to see the dial light and setting. Thanks for watching. Cheers.

    You could put it inside your center console compartment, that way it will be out of sight.
    for me I would choose the totally wireless blue tooth options from Curt, for something that would hardly ever be used, I don't need it exposed just sitting there doing nothing.
