Behind the Signs of The Las Vegas Neon Boneyard

- While we were in Las Vegas, we couldn't resist visiting the famous Neon Museum and its collection of casino signs. Each sign in this boneyard tells a story about the era in which it was built, and together traces the story of sign architecture and typography culture in America.

These signs should all be restored, and put up into an amusement park of sorts where everyone can see them in their old, working glory. That would be pretty awesome and I think people would pay to see that
She’s very passionate about her knowledge and vice versa; with a curator such as she the museum should thrive. Kudos
Driving in San Diego on El Cajon Blvd in the 70's you could see tons of Neon Signs up & down the street. I was in awe of them.
I was lucky to go to the old Stardust (and a few other casinos) in the 1980's before they demolished the classic buildings. I only wish I would have had some photos from that trip. The Stardust sign is the epitome of the 1950's Vegas - They were all awesome - My friends with me didn't feel the same as I did.
Now I want to go to Vegas just to visit this Museum -
I think the lady is the first neon geek I've ever 'seen'...what she's saying is seriously amazing...I never thought about how neon might look totally different in different climates.
Awesome video....going away from CES and covering something like this is exactly what makes this channel so awesome!
Also, great interviewing by Norm :-)
The signs have always been fascinating to me. Seeing them always cojures up images of the glitz and glam of the 50's and 60's. The art-deco style of the time, combined with the illumination makes for such a unique experience.
On an unrelated note, this woman could say anything to me and it would sound amazing.
Finally, a reason for me to go to Las Vegas.
Never though I'd set foot in that hell-hole again.
Road Trip.
Before this place came about I found a fenced off area while driving around from directions I'd gathered before UA-cam and all that came about and there were some of the OLD signs in there from way back, glad to see it's being taken care of at least now. Wish it had a roof over all of them ... Love this stuff..... Great job!
this woman should do audio books : D
Just two days ago I was thinking [not spoken] to myself _i wonder what happens to all those old discontinued and or replaced Las Vegas signs._ Now today this video title in the right youtube column reads *Recommended for you.* Strange.
The city would generate additional revenue by creating a real museum to permanently house and display these vintage signs. Should be taken out f the boneyard
I wish when I was in Vegas last - about eight years ago, I had hit this place up. - if it was around then.
Great video
Too bad there aren't enough funds to house these vintage signs in an actual warehouse. They are just going to continue to degrade with the sun and weather. If they were kept in a climate controlled facility, they would still look decent for years to come. It truly is a graveyard. You wouldn't do that with many other types of antiques.

I feel much the same way with old car yards or assholes who keep their vintage/classic cars out on the lawn through rain, wind or shine. I agree completely.
@@BlindBabeBeth True they could sell those old cars if they don't have good storage for them even if they love them very much but it's all about money tbh :/
Very cool!!!
Wonder if that Stardust sign still has “Lido” with it. Also wondering if they have Vegas Vickie??? I agree ! Even a brewery on the outskirts full of these signs would be amazing!!!
Last night, I saw "Vegas Vickie" inside a casino that's inside Fremont Street.
Great news! I’ll look next time where down. Thanks
Good show.
didn't the signs used to just be dumped out in the desert? is this a collection of all those same old ones and organized, or are these different old signs?
she's pretty.
Girl knows her shit ..How can you put her down ?
..Interesting
cool
You have to be careful because of all the fiends that like to camp out there.
Fluttershy, is that you?
What's with the random whispers??
Didn't I blow through that place in Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Yeah lol!
reminds me of rainbow six vegas 2
YEESS :D
lol yes XD
I hoard signs
And you really have to whisper uncomfortably....
D:DDD YEESS
Rainbow six Vegas 2
peligroy2k yes!!!!!!
The old adage things come and go, the whole of Vegas will someday be a big wasteland!!
kinky for sure..iii go there if i ever go to vegas
she came off very sad,,,,
Fallout.
That is all.
wow he's awkward
This is bullshit! I live in Vegas and the area where this is in is crap. Too far north from the major resort hotels. And to just pile them outside is bullshit. Spend money and move them to a building closer to the major resorts and refurbish them so people can see how old Vegas was.
meh... calling that history is just silly.... 60 years is pretty much nothing.
The place is nice, but that's the end of it. Don't try to "sell" those signs as precious relics.
She’s very “Breathy “ when she talks.
