I bet she'd be proud of Obsidian having her sign still be up in Fallout: New Vegas despite it taking place 200 years in the future. It's one of the first things you see when you start a new game in the intro cutscene.
rest in peace Betty Willis.....You did a great job for Las Vegas!
The Vegas sign is interesting, but Betty's standing script letters for the Moulin Rouge are breathtaking! She captured so much movement and rhythm in them--the words look surprisingly organic for something made from sheet metal.
Life without art is brutality...to that she says, "You're not going to replace art."
"I'm history itself," when she said to tell that many of the people who see the sign were not yet born. She was a great designer. She may have had fun doing it but she should have been paid what the men were paid.
What a delightful woman she was
Love her passion and love for Las Vegas.
RIP.
Very cool! She seems so humble and just someone who enjoyed her time doing what she did.
5:17 The circle at each letter of the word "Welcome" represents silver dollars! Makes sense to reference what feeds the coin operated one armed bandits of the town!!
She truly was a legend
we will all miss her
What a delightful person. Fabulous creation and now I have a model of it in my home.
RIP Betty
I cant imagine having a license plate with a design I made on it
Neat. Probably the most iconic sign in the city
*U.S.A.
The Mother of the "Mother of all Neo n signs"!
Great interview. Put in the description when this was filmed though.
It's an excellent design. I love that spaceship-shape.
she realy did a remarkable work on the sign and the details
RIP Betty WIllis
awesome
What's interesting about the sign is, it breaks all the "rules" in design. The bizarre shape, every word being a different font & it's off-centered with the star being in the center. And it's a great sign.
RIP
It would appear that she moved to heaven to make a welcome to heaven sign at the gates
@zombie bus Las vegas
and then a fiend got brained from 200m away
