I thought it might be. When he got down to number 3 I was like. I guess it didnt make the list no way it beat Spider-man AND DUNE. And then BAMM it was number 1. And his reasons are 100% correct. It is the quiickest 4 hours you ever spend watching a movie. Its just fucking fantastic stuff to see.

I was let down, frustrated and mad and I knew no one would give me back those hours...I just wasted them.... Fuck just thinking about it makes me angry... But I honestly hope there are people that like that movie not just because their minbd had built up the perfect movie they thought existed and it just refuses to face the reality, but really because it was what they wated to see. That was just not the case for me...not at all.

I’m so glad you put “Dune” on here. I had no idea what to expect; I knew nothing of the universe, having never read the books or seen the original movie, but when I saw the trailer, I was so blown away by the sheer amount of talent packed into one movie that I knew I had to see it. I was not disappointed. It’s not only my personal favorite movie of 2021, but one of my top 5 favorites of all time. I too am greatly optimistic about what part 2 will bring us. 🤞
I hope this led you to the book (audiobook is particularly well read), it's quite good. I'm excited for the bonus scenes as some important things were left out, but I hear they were indeed filmed.

I bought the 4k Snyder’s justice trilogy when it was on sale Black Friday. I always appreciate the IMAX aspect ratio being preserved and BvS ultimate edition in terms of image quality and Dolby atmos mix in a somewhat decent home theatre is about as good as it gets. My taste in movies tends to be older films and I probably enjoy the marvel movies overall for superhero fare but I don’t own those discs whereas the Snyder set and aquaman are hands down some of my best physical media purchases

God, what Snyder did for the characters was great. All of them had a role and a part to play, Cyborg went from being the worst part to just the heart of the movie. Which, before then I heard the actors complaints but didnt think much of it but after seeing what was robbed from the original movie? Man. AND THE FLASH! My god, the flash. Chills.

When I first watched ZSJL, I had no idea how drastically different it was going to be from the theatrical release. Steppenwolf was a more imposing villain and, at times, felt sorry for. Cyborg and The Flash were infinitely better. For me, when The Flash reversed time, it was the best scene in any superhero movie. It’s almost criminal what Joss Whedon and WB did to those characters and this movie as a whole. I’m glad that Zack Snyder got to complete his vision and I got to experience it. I did get choked up when the words “For Autumn” came on the screen. This is now my favorite superhero movie.
There was tension - atmosphere - stakes were infinitely higher - you were glued to your seat eagerly waiting for how the story would unfold (even when you already knew) - simply put this movie is a masterclass in directing
That Flash scene is remarkable in fact. The movie still feel bloated and I think it is somewhat pretentious to take FOUR HOURS to tell that story...but that Flash scene...yeah, I have no idea why they took it off

I'd say Dune is my number one. Knowing nothing of the book or the series other than it had some very die hard fans, I loved every second of it. The movie doesn't really feel its length, its so mesmerizing and the performances are incredible.
Highly recommend reading the book. Not only do you get to see what happens in the end, but there were also some incredible scenes that were cut out from the movie. Regardless, Denis did a phenomenal job. Definitely my #1 movie of the year as well!
But ist absolutely a flat movie in terms of emotion and entertainment ... it felt like nothing happened, like the intro of a story, yes I know is the first part but it isn't like the 1st part of a SW movie or TLOTR but felt more like the 1st part of The Hobbit trilogy. Like you can do this a one absolutely awesome and entertaining movie and not 3, but I know how business work and that everyone preferred that way, but I can see why Jeremy did't put it 1st.
The Snyder Cut was this year?! Man 2021 felt long lol. I loved that movie though, and I WANT to see more! Man, if we can get a sequel, get more Martian Manhunter, and get more characters we (or at least I) love - can you imagine John Stewart or Hawkgirl?! MAN would I pay good money to see that.

ZS Justice league is top tier storytelling of a team facing an apocalypse, who barely know each other with each of every member doing something important in every strategy they made on site, while no way home is top tier fan service evoking a deep emotion of nostalgia and the wildest imagination a spider-fan could imagine. Both movies are my number 1 and 2021 delivers a great movie since endgame 2019.
@@lokasocba The second half builds an epic conclusion off of the character building in the first half, so there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy the second half much more. One scene in particular is possibly my favorite moment in any superhero film ever made.

Thunder Ass - there’s reasons to dislike Snyder’s movies but what you said is tapped - - it was in no way a bloated Josstice League - every character was shat on in that movie but was done SIGNIFICANTLY better in The Snyder Cut.. it’s not a masterpiece but then again most Comic Book Movies aren’t they’re just good fun - so chill.
I adored Zack Snyder's Justice League, but I wasn't expecting it to be number one. Not that I'm complaining. ZSJL and Spider-Man NWH were very close. I will give the edge to ZSJL because it has certain things like Clark finally becoming THE Superman, Cyborg's arc (I'm not broken and I'm not alone) that I was able to relate to in a time where I was dealing with depression and was close to giving up and Flash's time travel sequence because when he said "Dad, whatever happens I want you to know, your kid was one of them dad, one of the best of the best." it reminded me when I was leaving a note to my loved ones but instead, the message was now replaced with hope. It was the total package. The time flew by and I know some people say it shouldn't be four hours but that just made it feel like an epic graphic novel brought to life/ It was the first superhero team up film where I truly felt that each member was ESSENTIAL to save the world. When they lined up and the camera panned by them, you remember what each member brought to the table.
Zack Synder is better than NWH. NWH goodness just come from crossover with previous Spiderman movies. Plot and story wise are little bit predictable, some parts also a little bit sloppy.

No way home suffers from the fact that 1. 75% of the plot was in the 2 trailers. 2. Basically every surprise got leaked. 3. It relies sooooo heavily on past movies to make it work. No way home is a good movie, but its one of those movies like endgame where on its own its very meh, and requires you to do a decent amount of homework to actually appreciate it.

I wasn't expecting to see the Snyder cut at first place, but I do agree. I wasn't expecting to like the movie. I thought it would still be terrible. But somehow even though it was four hours long, I still wanted more. Like he said, very few long movies keep my attention. This one did it twice for me. A very pleasant surprise this year
Completely agree. In some sense there was a lot of hype going into the movie, but in a lot of ways that hype had died down a bit because of the reputation of the DCEU so I didn’t know what to expect from it. Coming out of it though, I was totally blown away.
You thought it was better than Dune, Spencer, King Richard, Nightmare Alley, The Tragedy of Macbeth, Passing, and No Way Home? And if you haven’t seen any of those films, I would definitely recommend checking them out!
I saw Man of Steel... Meh. Saw Batman v Superman... Meh. I'm not giving Snyder another 4 hours for less than stellar stuff this far. Big problem is I haven't had any fun watching his movies.
I always love how completely unpretentious Jeremy’s year end lists are. They always feel like the real feelings of a real dude who really loves movies, rather than someone trying to paint themselves in some kind of light with their list, and I really appreciate that.

I love that Jeremy's always make his Top 10 list on what he likes, other reviewers makes their list on what their subscribers would like to see, so I feel they don't really come across as honest, that's why I mostly look forward to Jeremy's Top 10 list. It's as authentic as it comes, sometimes he gets flack for that but he doesn't bend over, it's HIS list.
Feels good, such a long time in the making to think back when Justice League was announced and then became a “pipe dream” as the internet called it and now Jeremy puts it on his number 1, the Snyder cut exists as a movie . Makes me happy to see!
That moment in ZSJL where at the end the motherboxes unite and Darkseid comes through is a chilling experience. You aren't actually expecting them to lose, but then it actually happens (and made me say "oh my gosh" out loud). Until the Flash taps into the Speedforce and saves the world. THAT scene right there was more chilling for me than when Thanos snapped his fingers, and I agree the movie deserved the number 1 spot.
100% agree. This was Barry’s decision alone. As opposed to an entire team effort telling him what to do. Barry has tapped into the speed force before and consequences has happened. But seeing that the world ended within a few seconds because one small slip up, he risked the chances of altering whatever was going to happen to run back and set things right because he needed to make sure his purpose was meant for something greater. That alone is one of the most heroic moments in comic book movies.

I too did not expect to see ZSJL to make it into the list much less number 1 spot. And when he said the movie entertained for four hours and he watched it back to back with his family, I was like it's happening!
Jeremy is my dude for life now, not only for putting Justice League on his list at all...but having the balls to make it his number 1!!! I honestly wanted to make it my number 1 but...I couldn't bring myself to put it over Dune; it felt dishonest.

To me, the best year end best lists will generally include two kinds of movies. One kind are movies that are simply entertaining in a typical way that you expect in the current film climate. The second kind are movies that are exceptional is one way or another. I look forward to seeing videos about peoples best of lists as a way of promoting work they think deserves an audience and also to prompt a discussion on film in general. That said, the Val Kilmer film is one film in a growing genre of celebrity filmed camcorder films along with Soleil Moon-Frye, Marlon Brando, and Anthony Bourdain. In particular, Bourdain's film struck me as an uncomfortably close profile of a brilliant, charismatic but, very troubled man who lived his life in front of the camera even before he was famous for doing so in his career. It's so emotionally intense it's hard to get a handle on how to process it which I'm not sure is the mark of a great movie but, most movies don't do this.
This year was filled with top notch dramas. Got hard for me to pick a favourite, but I went with Petite Maman due to how surreal yet simplistic and heartfelt it was.

My top 3 is easily Last Night in Soho, ZS's Justice League, and The French Dispatch. I watched many movies this year, and I feel that no other movie was as beautiful, artistic, unique, fun, and with replay value as The French Dispatch. I don't do it often, but I dare to call that movie a masterpiece.
I only watched enough movies this year to justify a top 5 movies: 1. Zack Snyder's Justice League 2. Dune 3. Spider-Man: No Way Home 4. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 5. Godzilla vs Kong
I still wish to see Zack Snyder's Justice League on the big screen. Absolutely loved every second of the movie and seeing it on the big screen after waiting all these years would've been such a memorable experience. Hopefully they continue the Snyderverse. Also, now I need to check out Copshop.
Even if it's on the big screen, I guarantee the studio would've wanted Snyder to trimmed down the runtime and I can see some scenes be cut out from the movie but it has to be on Snyder's choice, not the studio's choice. The rest of the scenes that he didn't put out for the theater could've been put in the HBO Max as Director's cut

That’s where Joss Whedon came and fucked up everything, he didn’t just turned down the size, he made reshoots explaining crucial things the he decided were “unnecessary” like all the Cyborg storyline, or Lois Lane grief, or Flash running back in time to save the world, or Steppenwolf actual motivation, or the real Age of Heroes secuencie, or Aquaman’s back story with Vulkro, or fricking DARKSEID….. it really pisses me off how this fucking guy saw darkseid on the original film and said, naa delete it

I'm just saying if Snyder's original vision of JL got to released in theaters, i guarantee the theater and the studio itself wanted Snyder to cut down some of the scenes so that it will get like more showings. I'm fine with it but it has to be under Snyder's superveillance. It has to be his choice which scenes that should be cut out for the theatrical release and just put it for a streaming service. I mean you didn't see Peter Jackson released a 4 hour director's cut of Lord of The Rings in theaters tho
Dune is #1 for me saw it last night and I was fully immersed didn't want it to end, knew nothing about and I cannot wait for the sequel. A breath of fresh air from all the other crap in the cinemas with corny jokes every 5 minutes

The one movie I would add here is "The Last Duel". It went under the radar for most but its one of Ridley Scotts best films in years. Its on Disney+ (not in the US) so please give it watch if you have it.
The cast called it a Feminist movie. That's why no one saw it. I saw it. It can easily be interpreted as a crap Feminist movie. But I interpreted it as an ambiguous movie
My second favourite next to Dune, and three is a way back. Good shit. I think putting Damon and Affleck in a period piece is what hurt it most. It was a weird thing to get over, but you do pretty quick when watching it. Damon especially was great.
What's more is important is that Disney+ is willing to put an R rated film in their collection, they might actually open to an R rated Star wars which would honestly revitalize the entire franchise.
They kept advertising it so hard here in Canada on the stars' names and never said a word about the story that pretty much no one saw it. The ads just got annoying because how I decide to see a movie is by whether the story sounds interesting.
Ohmigosh, yes!!!!! By #2, I was starting to question whether or not “ZS’s Justice League” was actually 2021. I thought Jeremy wasn’t going to have it on his list. I love this movie so much!! It ranks right up there with my other favorites. “Infinity War” and “Into the Spider-Verse”. (The difference between the two JLs was mind-blowing!)

I loved the Zack Snyder's Justice League but Dune is "numero uno" for me. Such an incredible movie. If I had watched Zack Snyder's JL on IMAX yep then it would be the number one.
Dune just looks incomplete... yes I know it would be part of a trilogy, but it isn't like one of SW or TLOTR wich can stand alone by themself, this one felt more like one of the 3 Hobbit ones, like a 3 movies from one book story, I felt nothing really happened... it was just like an intro, yes everithing else on it was awesome.

I adored ZSJL. It was also my favorite of the year. It was a win for the fans and a win for directors getting their vision made. It managed to be 4 hours and never boring for a second. This movie is incredible
The reason I enjoy this channel is because it’s serious enough to give thoughtful, honest, critical take that I know I am coming for but at the same time it doesn’t take itself to serious to say, “This is my opinion and I want you to enjoy it for what it is.” And to that I say thank you.
I remember watching that movie and just feeling sensory overload - - like I’d wanted to see a real DC Movie for years and I was getting so much of it I didn’t know how to feel.. time went by and it’s honestly up there as one of my favourite comic book movies - - I haven’t felt tension in a superhero movie like that since Infinity War.
I didn’t watch a lot of movies this year but dune would definitely be my number one, I just really got behind it and I was totally invested in this universe, this was my Star Wars experience, where you don’t know anything going in and your immediately blown away
A Quiet Place II was amazing and shocked it didn’t make the list. I was there during the q&a afterwards and just in awe of the backstories, fine details, & memories the cast/crew created for the movie. Plus mentioning part 3 is in the works was the cherry on top for me.

Happy to see Green Knight at 2! I loved that movie, but also know that it isn't for everyone. Its absolutely worth a watch, people just need to know that you're going into a trippy character piece and not a grand action epic. Its A24 at its most A24 vibe.
It's not a trippy character piece, there's zero character in the movie. The whole movie doesn't make any sense, it's just one sequence after another without any heads or tails. And so much of it is dream sequences that most of the movie doesn't even matter.

It's just as if someone took acid and then decided to make a movie set in medieval times with no plot, no direction, no character building, no real conclusion. It's just a collection of scenes that aren't connected in any way.

He starts off boozing and whoring in brothels, living with his mom and the whole point of the Green Knight's challenge and the adventure he goes on is to grow and mature. Throughout the movie he's tested (and fails most of them), but in the end realizes what kind of man he'll be if he keeps running from responsibility and holds himself to no standards. All these ppl who keep saying that nothing happens or that it doesn't mean anything clearly didn't bother to pay attention to what they were watching.
And it's a pretty damn good adaptation of the source material. I'm happy it's gotten a second wind on streaming after Disney screwed up the promotion of the film.
I was disappointed that there was little to no focus on the institution of dueling. I was hoping for more exploration of the culture surrounding it--what started it and why it was abolished after this duel. Instead the focus was on women's rights in medieval times. I just don't see the point. Isn't it a forgone conclusion that this time period was bad for women's rights? I expected a film called The Last Duel to focus more on the practice of dueling. I did like the way events were shown from different perspectives. That was really well done. The movie also looked great and was well-acted. I am not sure if I ever need to see it again though.

I don't understanding people triggered over Jeremy choosing ZSJL as his #1 movie of 2021. And why are people who didn't like the movie here commenting how they hated it or that it sucks and those who like it has very low standard or they are fanboys. When I don't like something I don't say that kind of shit to the ones who like it because everyone has different taste and opinions. If you want someone to respect yours then respect theirs as well. What Jeremy said in the video is his opinion and he is not putting it on you people who don't agree with him and if you disagree then just move on, people posting here and disagreeing or hating on people who like it shows that how hateful and triggered they are over a movie like they have nothing else to do. Sometimes people really disappoint to the limit of no return, sadly.
Snyder cuts definitely number one for me too! No way home is definitely a close second only cause i grew up with DC more than marvel so maybe I’m biased here’s hoping people don’t get salty in the comments about you liking a movie 😂
I'm pouring the salt on thick...I hate the Snycut. It's better than the Joshtice League, but the whole thing just feels like a director obsessed with himself and his vision, with way too much power and a severely over-hyped movie. The trademark Snyder cringe is all over the place and drag on for minutes on end and the only reason the thing is 4 hours long with FOURTY MINUTES OF SLOWMOTION, is because he wanted to measure dicks with the MCU and the 3hr Endgame. This movie was misguided and one hell of a missed opportunity. The real story lies somewhere between Zack and Josh...for now, they both gave us turds, one is just heavier than the other.

Mitchells vs the Machines is by far my favorite movie I've seen in the last two years - so funny, heartfelt, and I want to know who spied on my family and put all of us onscreen. Rick Mitchell is literally just like my own dad. If you missed it, please do check it out!
"The Last Duel" was probably my favourite movie I saw in theatre's this year. I didn't watch any trailers or marketing for it. I just saw that it was a Ridley Scott Medievil Epic that was getting good praise. I thought the pacing was good for a long movie and it didn't drag at all. And it wasn't preachy about its subject matter either. And the final fight was super satisfying. And its not a bloody sequal or franchise movie for once!!!!!!
I thought it was ok! They could’ve done away with the three different perspectives. Obviously the husband gonna stick up for the wife so they could’ve intertwined both of their stories together and gotten rid of a few scenes altogether. But the last fight was amazing doh.
@@Kiárán92 I thought the three perspectives were the main thing that constituted the films existence. At its core it’s about a tragic event happening to a woman and all any of the men can do is make it entirely about themselves due to the hierarchy of the time.

Snyder Cut is 3, NWH is 2 and Dune is 1. I really enjoyed that world, having not read the book beforehand. I could understand the world, the characters, everything. The music was amazing too. Cinematography. Just a near-perfect movie. If it had been a 4 hour epic with both parts together? It'd probably be perfect for sure.
Thank you for having ZSJL as your #1. I know I don't have to thank you because the film is exactly what it is and any person without a flaming hatred for Snyder would see just how amazing this movie is, but you do need to be recognized for it because you were against Snyder at first. It takes an adult to admit when they were wrong or when their mind has been changed. ZSJL is, to this day, the pinnacle of what superhero movies can be. No Way Home is amazing, but it's still an MCU movie w/ narrative and thematic issues but it's done so well that it doesn't matter. ZSJL is a 7 layer dip where each layer is better than the last. Effects, scope, script, acting, directing, cinematography, etc. All of these elements of filmmaking are at their peak for cape shit filmmaking. Pure gold. Thank you.

While I'm not super hyped on the MCU, I loooved Infinity War but IW is a sequel that relies on you seeing the other films to know what's happening. Each of Zack's DCEU sequels work better as stand alone films if you haven't seen the previous because he always works the relevance of the previous ending into the beginning of the new film, making it totally acceptable to die hard fans and newbies alike.

ZSJL was truly the best one of 2021. I've had a blast watching it. Wish it was in theaters. NWH and Dune comes second. I couldn't choose between Dune and NWH. They're both second for me.
It also gave regular moviegoers a sobering glimpse into how the movie making sausage is made and how much a studio can seriously mess with a directors creative process

Saw trailers for it and it looks promising.
I saw “Licorice Pizza” Christmas Day and I thought it was phenomenal. I love Paul Thomas Anderson movies though. I don’t think it’s a requirement though, my best friend had only seen “Boogie Nights” (which he loved) but he really liked this one also. I hope more people discover it because everyone I told what movie I was going to see had never heard of it. It’s just a film that has a lot of heart. The acting was great, especially since it was Cooper Hoffman’s debut and Alana Haim is primarily a musician. I hope you like it. It’s definitely on my top 10 list for this year.

People need to not let any religious undertones keep them from seeing American Underdog, its flat out virtually as good a sports biography as King Richard was in quality and storytelling.

Fun Fact: Zack Snyder's Justice League was still not Zack Snyder's complete vision. The studio stepped in to get Green Lantern removed in the ending, which is why you see Bruce interacting with Martian Manhunter and not even fazed a bit.

But I honestly hope there are people that like that movie not just because their minbd had built up the perfect movie they thought existed and it just refuses to face the reality, but really because it was what they wated to see. That was just not the case for me...not at all.

I’m so glad you put “Dune” on here. I had no idea what to expect; I knew nothing of the universe, having never read the books or seen the original movie, but when I saw the trailer, I was so blown away by the sheer amount of talent packed into one movie that I knew I had to see it. I was not disappointed. It’s not only my personal favorite movie of 2021, but one of my top 5 favorites of all time.
I too am greatly optimistic about what part 2 will bring us. 🤞
I hope this led you to the book (audiobook is particularly well read), it's quite good. I'm excited for the bonus scenes as some important things were left out, but I hear they were indeed filmed.

I bought the 4k Snyder’s justice trilogy when it was on sale Black Friday. I always appreciate the IMAX aspect ratio being preserved and BvS ultimate edition in terms of image quality and Dolby atmos mix in a somewhat decent home theatre is about as good as it gets. My taste in movies tends to be older films and I probably enjoy the marvel movies overall for superhero fare but I don’t own those discs whereas the Snyder set and aquaman are hands down some of my best physical media purchases

When I first watched ZSJL, I had no idea how drastically different it was going to be from the theatrical release. Steppenwolf was a more imposing villain and, at times, felt sorry for. Cyborg and The Flash were infinitely better. For me, when The Flash reversed time, it was the best scene in any superhero movie. It’s almost criminal what Joss Whedon and WB did to those characters and this movie as a whole. I’m glad that Zack Snyder got to complete his vision and I got to experience it. I did get choked up when the words “For Autumn” came on the screen. This is now my favorite superhero movie.
That Flash scene was soooooooooo good, I still can't stop watching it.

There was tension - atmosphere - stakes were infinitely higher - you were glued to your seat eagerly waiting for how the story would unfold (even when you already knew) - simply put this movie is a masterclass in directing
That Flash scene is remarkable in fact. The movie still feel bloated and I think it is somewhat pretentious to take FOUR HOURS to tell that story...but that Flash scene...yeah, I have no idea why they took it off

What a shame that the SnyderVerse will never be continued, it’s truly my personal favorite superhero team up film ever.
I'd say Dune is my number one. Knowing nothing of the book or the series other than it had some very die hard fans, I loved every second of it. The movie doesn't really feel its length, its so mesmerizing and the performances are incredible.

Highly recommend reading the book. Not only do you get to see what happens in the end, but there were also some incredible scenes that were cut out from the movie. Regardless, Denis did a phenomenal job. Definitely my #1 movie of the year as well!

But ist absolutely a flat movie in terms of emotion and entertainment ... it felt like nothing happened, like the intro of a story, yes I know is the first part but it isn't like the 1st part of a SW movie or TLOTR but felt more like the 1st part of The Hobbit trilogy. Like you can do this a one absolutely awesome and entertaining movie and not 3, but I know how business work and that everyone preferred that way, but I can see why Jeremy did't put it 1st.

ZS Justice league is top tier storytelling of a team facing an apocalypse, who barely know each other with each of every member doing something important in every strategy they made on site, while no way home is top tier fan service evoking a deep emotion of nostalgia and the wildest imagination a spider-fan could imagine. Both movies are my number 1 and 2021 delivers a great movie since endgame 2019.

Meh while the character design was good, he sounded like just another grey cgi monster in a zack snyder movie.
Snyder is a fan of the material and knows how to bring the panels to life. His films are unique both visually and storytelling wise.
I don’t think he is that good of a director. He’d be a better head of cinematography, an awesome one at that. But to me he lacks good movies

Thunder Ass - there’s reasons to dislike Snyder’s movies but what you said is tapped - - it was in no way a bloated Josstice League - every character was shat on in that movie but was done SIGNIFICANTLY better in The Snyder Cut.. it’s not a masterpiece but then again most Comic Book Movies aren’t they’re just good fun - so chill.

I adored Zack Snyder's Justice League, but I wasn't expecting it to be number one. Not that I'm complaining. ZSJL and Spider-Man NWH were very close. I will give the edge to ZSJL because it has certain things like Clark finally becoming THE Superman, Cyborg's arc (I'm not broken and I'm not alone) that I was able to relate to in a time where I was dealing with depression and was close to giving up and Flash's time travel sequence because when he said "Dad, whatever happens I want you to know, your kid was one of them dad, one of the best of the best." it reminded me when I was leaving a note to my loved ones but instead, the message was now replaced with hope. It was the total package. The time flew by and I know some people say it shouldn't be four hours but that just made it feel like an epic graphic novel brought to life/ It was the first superhero team up film where I truly felt that each member was ESSENTIAL to save the world. When they lined up and the camera panned by them, you remember what each member brought to the table.
Thought number one it would be Dune objectively from Jeremy's Awesometacular
Zack Synder is better than NWH. NWH goodness just come from crossover with previous Spiderman movies. Plot and story wise are little bit predictable, some parts also a little bit sloppy.

No way home suffers from the fact that 1. 75% of the plot was in the 2 trailers. 2. Basically every surprise got leaked. 3. It relies sooooo heavily on past movies to make it work. No way home is a good movie, but its one of those movies like endgame where on its own its very meh, and requires you to do a decent amount of homework to actually appreciate it.

I wasn't expecting to see the Snyder cut at first place, but I do agree. I wasn't expecting to like the movie. I thought it would still be terrible. But somehow even though it was four hours long, I still wanted more. Like he said, very few long movies keep my attention. This one did it twice for me. A very pleasant surprise this year
Completely agree. In some sense there was a lot of hype going into the movie, but in a lot of ways that hype had died down a bit because of the reputation of the DCEU so I didn’t know what to expect from it. Coming out of it though, I was totally blown away.
You thought it was better than Dune, Spencer, King Richard, Nightmare Alley, The Tragedy of Macbeth, Passing, and No Way Home? And if you haven’t seen any of those films, I would definitely recommend checking them out!

I always love how completely unpretentious Jeremy’s year end lists are. They always feel like the real feelings of a real dude who really loves movies, rather than someone trying to paint themselves in some kind of light with their list, and I really appreciate that.

I love that Jeremy's always make his Top 10 list on what he likes, other reviewers makes their list on what their subscribers would like to see, so I feel they don't really come across as honest, that's why I mostly look forward to Jeremy's Top 10 list. It's as authentic as it comes, sometimes he gets flack for that but he doesn't bend over, it's HIS list.
Feels good, such a long time in the making to think back when Justice League was announced and then became a “pipe dream” as the internet called it and now Jeremy puts it on his number 1, the Snyder cut exists as a movie . Makes me happy to see!
That moment in ZSJL where at the end the motherboxes unite and Darkseid comes through is a chilling experience. You aren't actually expecting them to lose, but then it actually happens (and made me say "oh my gosh" out loud). Until the Flash taps into the Speedforce and saves the world. THAT scene right there was more chilling for me than when Thanos snapped his fingers, and I agree the movie deserved the number 1 spot.

100% agree. This was Barry’s decision alone. As opposed to an entire team effort telling him what to do. Barry has tapped into the speed force before and consequences has happened. But seeing that the world ended within a few seconds because one small slip up, he risked the chances of altering whatever was going to happen to run back and set things right because he needed to make sure his purpose was meant for something greater. That alone is one of the most heroic moments in comic book movies.

I too did not expect to see ZSJL to make it into the list much less number 1 spot. And when he said the movie entertained for four hours and he watched it back to back with his family, I was like it's happening!

To me, the best year end best lists will generally include two kinds of movies. One kind are movies that are simply entertaining in a typical way that you expect in the current film climate. The second kind are movies that are exceptional is one way or another.
I look forward to seeing videos about peoples best of lists as a way of promoting work they think deserves an audience and also to prompt a discussion on film in general.
That said, the Val Kilmer film is one film in a growing genre of celebrity filmed camcorder films along with Soleil Moon-Frye, Marlon Brando, and Anthony Bourdain. In particular, Bourdain's film struck me as an uncomfortably close profile of a brilliant, charismatic but, very troubled man who lived his life in front of the camera even before he was famous for doing so in his career. It's so emotionally intense it's hard to get a handle on how to process it which I'm not sure is the mark of a great movie but, most movies don't do this.

This year was filled with top notch dramas. Got hard for me to pick a favourite, but I went with Petite Maman due to how surreal yet simplistic and heartfelt it was.

I still wish to see Zack Snyder's Justice League on the big screen. Absolutely loved every second of the movie and seeing it on the big screen after waiting all these years would've been such a memorable experience. Hopefully they continue the Snyderverse.

Even if it's on the big screen, I guarantee the studio would've wanted Snyder to trimmed down the runtime and I can see some scenes be cut out from the movie but it has to be on Snyder's choice, not the studio's choice. The rest of the scenes that he didn't put out for the theater could've been put in the HBO Max as Director's cut

That’s where Joss Whedon came and fucked up everything, he didn’t just turned down the size, he made reshoots explaining crucial things the he decided were “unnecessary” like all the Cyborg storyline, or Lois Lane grief, or Flash running back in time to save the world, or Steppenwolf actual motivation, or the real Age of Heroes secuencie, or Aquaman’s back story with Vulkro, or fricking DARKSEID….. it really pisses me off how this fucking guy saw darkseid on the original film and said, naa delete it

I'm just saying if Snyder's original vision of JL got to released in theaters, i guarantee the theater and the studio itself wanted Snyder to cut down some of the scenes so that it will get like more showings. I'm fine with it but it has to be under Snyder's superveillance. It has to be his choice which scenes that should be cut out for the theatrical release and just put it for a streaming service. I mean you didn't see Peter Jackson released a 4 hour director's cut of Lord of The Rings in theaters tho

Dune is #1 for me saw it last night and I was fully immersed didn't want it to end, knew nothing about and I cannot wait for the sequel. A breath of fresh air from all the other crap in the cinemas with corny jokes every 5 minutes

The one movie I would add here is "The Last Duel". It went under the radar for most but its one of Ridley Scotts best films in years. Its on Disney+ (not in the US) so please give it watch if you have it.
The cast called it a Feminist movie. That's why no one saw it. I saw it. It can easily be interpreted as a crap Feminist movie. But I interpreted it as an ambiguous movie
I really liked this movie.
My second favourite next to Dune, and three is a way back. Good shit. I think putting Damon and Affleck in a period piece is what hurt it most. It was a weird thing to get over, but you do pretty quick when watching it. Damon especially was great.
What's more is important is that Disney+ is willing to put an R rated film in their collection, they might actually open to an R rated Star wars which would honestly revitalize the entire franchise.
They kept advertising it so hard here in Canada on the stars' names and never said a word about the story that pretty much no one saw it. The ads just got annoying because how I decide to see a movie is by whether the story sounds interesting.

I loved the Zack Snyder's Justice League but Dune is "numero uno" for me. Such an incredible movie. If I had watched Zack Snyder's JL on IMAX yep then it would be the number one.
Dune just looks incomplete... yes I know it would be part of a trilogy, but it isn't like one of SW or TLOTR wich can stand alone by themself, this one felt more like one of the 3 Hobbit ones, like a 3 movies from one book story, I felt nothing really happened... it was just like an intro, yes everithing else on it was awesome.
I loved Dune, but went in with no spoilers, so when the movie just ended out of nowhere I was unhappy, because I thought it was a standalone movie.

A Quiet Place II was amazing and shocked it didn’t make the list. I was there during the q&a afterwards and just in awe of the backstories, fine details, & memories the cast/crew created for the movie. Plus mentioning part 3 is in the works was the cherry on top for me.

It's not a trippy character piece, there's zero character in the movie. The whole movie doesn't make any sense, it's just one sequence after another without any heads or tails. And so much of it is dream sequences that most of the movie doesn't even matter.

He starts off boozing and whoring in brothels, living with his mom and the whole point of the Green Knight's challenge and the adventure he goes on is to grow and mature. Throughout the movie he's tested (and fails most of them), but in the end realizes what kind of man he'll be if he keeps running from responsibility and holds himself to no standards. All these ppl who keep saying that nothing happens or that it doesn't mean anything clearly didn't bother to pay attention to what they were watching.

"The Last Duel" was a damn good movie. It had one of the best periodic set pieces I've seen in recent times and amazing acting with a great story!
And it's a pretty damn good adaptation of the source material. I'm happy it's gotten a second wind on streaming after Disney screwed up the promotion of the film.

I just sat in theater after I watched it stunned at my experience. Definitely top 5 for me!
I was disappointed that there was little to no focus on the institution of dueling. I was hoping for more exploration of the culture surrounding it--what started it and why it was abolished after this duel. Instead the focus was on women's rights in medieval times. I just don't see the point. Isn't it a forgone conclusion that this time period was bad for women's rights?
I expected a film called The Last Duel to focus more on the practice of dueling.
I did like the way events were shown from different perspectives. That was really well done. The movie also looked great and was well-acted. I am not sure if I ever need to see it again though.

I'm pouring the salt on thick...I hate the Snycut. It's better than the Joshtice League, but the whole thing just feels like a director obsessed with himself and his vision, with way too much power and a severely over-hyped movie. The trademark Snyder cringe is all over the place and drag on for minutes on end and the only reason the thing is 4 hours long with FOURTY MINUTES OF SLOWMOTION, is because he wanted to measure dicks with the MCU and the 3hr Endgame. This movie was misguided and one hell of a missed opportunity. The real story lies somewhere between Zack and Josh...for now, they both gave us turds, one is just heavier than the other.

"The Last Duel" was probably my favourite movie I saw in theatre's this year. I didn't watch any trailers or marketing for it. I just saw that it was a Ridley Scott Medievil Epic that was getting good praise.
I thought the pacing was good for a long movie and it didn't drag at all. And it wasn't preachy about its subject matter either. And the final fight was super satisfying.
And its not a bloody sequal or franchise movie for once!!!!!!

I thought it was ok! They could’ve done away with the three different perspectives. Obviously the husband gonna stick up for the wife so they could’ve intertwined both of their stories together and gotten rid of a few scenes altogether. But the last fight was amazing doh.
@@Kiárán92 I thought the three perspectives were the main thing that constituted the films existence. At its core it’s about a tragic event happening to a woman and all any of the men can do is make it entirely about themselves due to the hierarchy of the time.

Zack Snyder's Justice league is really an awesome movie. I loved it so much. 4hours felt short to me. You will love this film.

Snyder Cut is 3, NWH is 2 and Dune is 1. I really enjoyed that world, having not read the book beforehand. I could understand the world, the characters, everything. The music was amazing too. Cinematography. Just a near-perfect movie. If it had been a 4 hour epic with both parts together? It'd probably be perfect for sure.
Dune is 3, Snyder Cut is 2 and NWH is 1. There fixed it for you.

Dune was garbage. The most boring and pointless story in 2021. No Way Home had a lot of fan service so it was fun but as a story it wasn't that great.
I literally threw my phone and happy danced when I saw ZSJL as number 1!!!!
When you mentioned “The Green Knight” I let out a good “sheeeeeshh”, I watched that like 3 times in theaters and bought blu ray.
Thank you for having ZSJL as your #1. I know I don't have to thank you because the film is exactly what it is and any person without a flaming hatred for Snyder would see just how amazing this movie is, but you do need to be recognized for it because you were against Snyder at first. It takes an adult to admit when they were wrong or when their mind has been changed.
ZSJL is, to this day, the pinnacle of what superhero movies can be. No Way Home is amazing, but it's still an MCU movie w/ narrative and thematic issues but it's done so well that it doesn't matter. ZSJL is a 7 layer dip where each layer is better than the last. Effects, scope, script, acting, directing, cinematography, etc. All of these elements of filmmaking are at their peak for cape shit filmmaking. Pure gold.

@@simonbright2975 it's exactly like those films and I would argue even better. While I'm not super hyped on the MCU, I loooved Infinity War but IW is a sequel that relies on you seeing the other films to know what's happening. Each of Zack's DCEU sequels work better as stand alone films if you haven't seen the previous because he always works the relevance of the previous ending into the beginning of the new film, making it totally acceptable to die hard fans and newbies alike.

I feel like The Last Duel should be on this list. Probably also has the best overall acting over all of the films mentioned. I think the topic might have pushed some people away in 2021.

ZSJL was truly the best one of 2021. I've had a blast watching it. Wish it was in theaters. NWH and Dune comes second. I couldn't choose between Dune and NWH. They're both second for me.
It also gave regular moviegoers a sobering glimpse into how the movie making sausage is made and how much a studio can seriously mess with a directors creative process

@@kidkryptonite893 Zach’s superman doesn’t even make sense he broke Zods neck instead of turning it away from the family he was about to kill and his Superman thinks of himself as a god instead of a human and he tries to portray superman as a Jesus like character is which is just lazy asf and then Batman kills for no reason and on top of that when superman was resurrected Batman just walks towards him like a mindless child and has no contingency plan… that’s not Batman he doesn’t understand the characters he just goes for the cheap mindless basic depictions of them and it doesn’t work flash and cyborg are the only good characters In that movie he wasted all of the potential all those actors and characters had to go wit sum boring forced dc version of the avengers movie

Another movie I've been really curious to see is Licorice Pizza but I won't be able to see it until I get back after the New Year. Saw trailers for it and it looks promising.
I saw “Licorice Pizza” Christmas Day and I thought it was phenomenal. I love Paul Thomas Anderson movies though. I don’t think it’s a requirement though, my best friend had only seen “Boogie Nights” (which he loved) but he really liked this one also. I hope more people discover it because everyone I told what movie I was going to see had never heard of it. It’s just a film that has a lot of heart. The acting was great, especially since it was Cooper Hoffman’s debut and Alana Haim is primarily a musician. I hope you like it. It’s definitely on my top 10 list for this year.

People need to not let any religious undertones keep them from seeing American Underdog, its flat out virtually as good a sports biography as King Richard was in quality and storytelling.
I think is an accomplishment if you can make a 4 hours movie that keep you engaged and entertained for the entire runtime even though it has it flaws I can't deny that Snyder Cut is the best movie experience of 2021 imo

Fun Fact: Zack Snyder's Justice League was still not Zack Snyder's complete vision. The studio stepped in to get Green Lantern removed in the ending, which is why you see Bruce interacting with Martian Manhunter and not even fazed a bit.
