Sunscreen is my most favorite part of getting ready in the morning. I know that sounds silly, but it makes me feel good knowing I’m protecting my skin.
In 2024 I tried several of your sunscreen suggestions and found that P. Calm 50+ is fantastic on my sensitive, rosacea, oily face. I've repurchased it many times now.
APLB sunscreen is my favorite sunscreen I tried ! I just saw they came out with a sunscreen with collagen in it (and another one with retinol as well) I received it not long ago and so far it's as good as the glutathione one so now I will be able to take care of protecting my skin from the sun (so protecting it from aging and all) while also taking care of turning the clock back on my skin that is starting to loose elasticity before I get too old ! 😍🤩
I’m so excited to see people from other countries trying out Indian skincare products. The market in our country has just boomed in the past 8 years, drastically and I often reach out for those products more than some international brands.
You are one my favorite people, thank you for educating me on sun screens, long time melasma sufferer! Also, didn’t know about Vaseline but thanks to you, it has changed how I use it❤❤❤
Omg so excited for a gel suncream video- all sun creams run into my eyes so I use hello Sunday's lip spf on my upper eyelids which is a lovely gel and doesn't run into my eyes- would be great to hear of other alternatives tho!
Dr. Dray turned me onto Skin Aqua 50spf ++++sunscreen in the 140ml white bottle several years ago. I can get a two pack on sale with a coupon for $15.00 from a Korean products website. I use on my face, neck, decollate, back of hands and forearms going through two bottles a year being fair and living in Arizona. BEST PRODUCT/BEST BARGAIN AROUND!
At some point, I'd love for you to do a video explaining all the UVA gradings and what they actually mean, for example, I contacted Hello Sunday to ask for an idea of the UVA protection in their lip spf 50 and they came back with this: "SPF/ UVAPF Ratio: 1.9 UVAPF / SPF Ratio (%): 52,0%" No idea what that means!
The SPF/UVAPF ratio of 1.9 means that the UVA protection (UVAPF) provided by this SPF 50 lip product is about 26 (you get this by dividing SPF 50 by 1.9). The closer the ratio is to 1, the more balanced the protection is between UVB (SPF) and UVA. The UVAPF/SPF percentage of 52% means that just over half of the product’s protection is dedicated to UVA rays. For reference, in Europe, sunscreens are required to have at least 33% UVA protection compared to their SPF, so this product exceeds the standard. In short, this lip SPF 50 offers decent UVA protection, though it leans slightly more towards UVB. I hope that clears things up a bit.
Wow thank you so so much for such a comprehensive reply- I've tried to Google this to no avail and tried to ask Hello Sunday to explain this further but they didn't reply. You've been wonderful. Thank you so much. Have a very happy New Year x
Thanks, Dr Dray. I find these videos helpful for when I'm looking to try a new product. I know if you like and approve of something, I'm good to go. Happy Friday!! I hope you, your sweet momma and little Tybee have a fabulous weekend!! 💞
Thank you Dr. Dray for sharing some of your favorite sunscreen products My skin is very sensitive to fragrances, I use fragrance free products. My favorite sunscreen is the Vanicream Facial Moisturizer SPF 30. This product is lightweight, and fragrance free with Zinc Oxide. I use an Unscented handmade SPF lip balm from Portland Bee Balm. Take care everyone 🌹
You have saved my skin for the better! My New Year’s Resolution is to go makeup free and embrace my skin (save for my tinted sunscreen and lip products). wish me luck!
The Anua heartleaf silky moisture spf 50+ is my absolute favorite right now! I just randomly bought it on my NYC trip with my cousins this year and then I had to order 4 more because I use it every single day 😂 I’ve even been using it as a moisturizer because it’s so good!
My husband and I were in Tulum, MX two weeks ago. Because we did carry-on only we bought SPF there. I ended up buying and using Nivea 50 for sensitive skin. Idk if it’s in the US. Anyway, it smelled of alcohol (as it was the second ingredient after water) I thought I was going to fry to a crisp. I came home whiter than I arrived there! 😂 I have no idea what the active ingredients were but I never burned or even got a smidgen of color. I thought, Dr. Dray would be proud.
Is everything alright with you, I saw Houston was getting some pretty rough weather last night & I know you live there!? Hope all is well. Have a great weekend!❤️
I’m in my 50s and still tend towards oily skin….particularly in summer. I found the La Roche Posay Anthelios Dry Touch and it’s the best!! I never would have tried it because I didn’t like the Neutrogena dry touch at all. But someone online suggested it to me.
I HATE the feel of sunscreen on my face. I was recently gifted the LaRoche Posay Anthelios Water Lotion Sunscreen for Face & Body SPF 30 and LOVE IT. I've actually been wearing it on my face and hands. I'm going to try your Melt In version in SPF 60. Thanks so much for the suggestion. I'm not a fan of snow, but less of a fan of humidity and 90 degree temps!!!
Sunscreen is a daily requirement. But if you live in a southern state with a low latitude, PLEASE remember you must wear polarized sunglasses on bright days! My ophthalmologist explained to me recently that polarization helps prevent the development of cataracts, which are more common in sunny areas among people who are outdoors a lot (me). Protect your skin and eyes. For my arms, I just go with sun protection long sleeve shirts. But I want to try that Arizona Green Tea lip sunblock because green tea is great on my skin, super soothing. I wish it didn't taste like the underside of a lawn mower. I want so much to like matcha...just can't get it down.
I think that Arizona tea lip spf is just flavored and doesn’t have green tea extract in it. I couldn’t handle the spf taste. I do better with mineral based lip spfs or Asian ones. Just wanted to warn you! Thanks for the polarized glasses tip!
Thank you so much for sharing these! Can you comment on whether Asian sunscreens are safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding? It’s hard to find info since some of these ingredients are not available in the us!
Cerave spf 50 doesn’t include any zinc oxide in Europe formulation 😔 But I am using it for the last 2 years and my skin improved insanely! Great under the make up as well.
Can you tell me what your opinion on ISDIN Eryfotona Actinica Spf 50 Sunscreen is? It's pricey but I'm wondering what your professional opinion is? Thank you 🙏
The APLB sunscreen must have been reformulated recently. I noticed this cause it gave me a bit of a white cast and I looked at the ingredients list on the box. Lo and behold, it has only the newer filters and Tinasorb M! So disappointed! I bought mine from Stylevana.
Do you have any suggestions for a mineral sunscreen that doesnt have a cast? I am allergic to something in chemical sunscreen and get terrible reactions to them.
I use the LaRoche Posay Anthelios sunscreen, at least the 50 or 60 spf. I only used the 100 spf once, because I purchased it in the U.S. I don't think it's available in Canada, where I live.
I have the absolute worst luck with ANY BRAND that has spf in it. It pills and feels awful! I've tried a couple of your recommends but at this point, I think I'm giving up on anything that has spf in it. 😢
I’m literally allergic to every sunscreen I’ve ever tried and I have tried dozens physical, chemical, mixed, I get bad rashes, acne and burning eyes that take weeks to get rid of after use. I don’t understand how people are able just to slap on and try anything lucky.
Yes! That would be amazing. Also, I always heard growing up that you had to wait half an hour after applying sunscreen before going into the sun. Is that true or just one of those mom things?🤔
We recently were in Maui. Had to use mineral sunscreen to protect reefs which is very important. Unfortunately, none we tried worked well. They were white, thick, got on clothes. I burned and got a weird rash on my neck. One didn't stay on in the water. Do you have any suggestions?
honestly that la roche posay melt in milk i would never buy again!! i would apply it before golf and then if i started sweating it was like i was sweating milk!!! it never rubbed in!! it was weird. used it up, happened every time. i wouldnt recommend.
Have you ever used neutrogena sunscreen, my dermatologist highly recommended that brand over any other brand (p.s im from Australia, dont know if it necessarily changes anything)
That is not true, it's only bad if it is irritating for your skin, plenty of people tolerate chemical sunscreen just fine, even more so the ones with newer filters.
Is it possible to make an affordable sunscreen video? Since we have to reapply approximately 1/2 ounce of sunscreen every 2 hours, the bottles can be easily used up in 2-3 days and it's not sustainable financially for most people to spend hundreds of dollars a month in sunscreen. Are there cheaper options?
Hi everyone, as a combo skin, can anyone recommend a sunscreen with matt finish that pairs well with makeup? I used to had one from neutrogena, utra sheer dry touch wp, didn't roll up and didn't have any issues, but I wanna try something else, a Korean brand or something easy to find at walgreens maybe. Thanks, have a nice year !

Dr Dray, is there like a lab test that can test your skin's response to individual skincare ingredients?
