My Sister and I 8 yrs and 10yrs old respectively in the mid 70’s were catching Amberjack in the 25lb range on spinning rods. We came upon a school of African Pompano aka Cuban Jacks and she caught an IFGA record at 46.5lbs on a spinning rod. She weighed all of 45 lbs herself. Mine was 1lb. 1oz. smaller of course.

I miss fishing in OZ did 2 years there and fished from darwin all the way east round to exmouth. scotland is just not the same.

Man i swam right up to a pair of gts on the great barrier reef and man what a fish, got broken off by something big at the trawler jettys and my mates reckon it was a gt, got the new rod a saltist hyper and a penn slammer 3 we might get one next time.
Great fish! When I see a GT like that and remember the image of that 191 pound Hawaiian state record, it tells me that somewhere on this planet cruises a trevally in the 250 to 300 pound range-- almost a frightening thought.
Chest cam can be so painful to watch a fishing clip from, head cam is so much better 🤙 nice GT brooksy 🎣👌

That fish was out of water for way too long, hope it fully recovered, what an awesome fish congrats.
How long is a GT supposed to be out of the water for? When you catch them how quickly do you release them? What’s the cutoff point between too long and OK?
@@DanEvan gt r tough fish they will be fine for a minute or two but the fight does leave them tired out so better to snap a couple pics and get em back in the water asap. It's tuna and mackeral u rly gotta put back quick if u want them to survive especially tuna as I found out the hard way.
He revived it and made sure it kicked off. I wouldn't criticize them for that but yeah if was out for a bit longer than it should

Just to help with the jittery leg, if you sit your foot on the ball of your ankle, it really helps calm your jitters down a bit, just enough to get a good stillframe with that massive GT you definitely want a photo of.

Hey Brooksy, insane action mate 👍 Question for you regarding Go-Pro camera mount preference. From what I have seen in your vids you seem to prefer the chest mount option, is there are reason you prefer that over a head mount? As epic as that surface hit was, a chunk of the action got lost behind the reel and your hands, and then when you turned your body for the hook-set. Do you think that a head mount may be a better option in some instances, maybe for people who are trying to capture predominantly top-water action?
