Lived in the Nurses residence for 3 months for psychiatric education while attending nursing school in the city. What an experience and education it was. Can't imagine 19 yr olds today surviving that .
I was part of the first class to attend NYIT there in 84-85. Got roped into NYIT on a scholarship but quickly found out it was a joke school. Only stayed a year, got out of there as quick as I could and transferred to Stony Brook. Everything was in the converted rehab center all classes, offices and meals,. Only 3 dorms L 4,5, 6. I lived in L5 on the 2nd floor. The grounds were pretty scary as was the surrounding area. It was pretty horrible then. I don't think it got much better. There were a lot of promises about how they were going to build up the campus into something great. I drove through there about 15 years ago, it looked exactly the same as when I left, except they had finally finished the Sunburst Center, big whoop. Now its all just urban decay.
I came from the Philly area in Fall 1985 to study Architecture. I thought I remembered a dorm called SR1 which was on the main road. I didn't think the campus was too bad. It was still a work in progress. I didn't notice any haunting. I only lasted one semester and I eventually graduated from Temple with a degree in Accounting. It was too expensive and I didn't think I would be one of the few who graduated with an Architecture degree so I left.
I’m not sure which building it was, but a few years ago I was grading the state exams in former NYIT classrooms. I can sense stuff and experienced a lot of things. Felt really uneasy there and couldn’t focus on grading lol
Hi! Loved it. Great choice of music, too. Some of the furniture in there looks so well built and it's still holding up (like the built in bookcases in Robbins Hall). Question: what's the deal with the property tag?
I graduated from the school of Nursing in 1967. I lived in the nurses residences I and II from 1964- 1967. My best friend’s father was the Director of the hospital, Francis O’Neill from 1951-1971 so I was in and around the state hospital grounds and buildings for much longer than that. My friend and I played bowling in an authentic bowling alley in the J building where the pins were manually set up by one of the resident in-patients. We watched movies with the in-patients on the weekends. So many memories. The tree lined Carleton Avenue was a beautiful road to drive through.
I made an error. The building that was used for entertainment was Robbins Hall. The J building was the infirmary for the patients. That was the “hospital” portion of the hospital. In my last year of Nursing School, the new Med-Surg building was opened and the infirmary was moved to that location. Today that building is used as an office building.
I want to see the medical building and what it's been turned into.

I can’t imagine what that must’ve been like

@@JessieMarieInspires Did you experience hauntings or are you asking Adam if he did?

My friend loves finding them
Robbins Hall, was that a gym? I remember doing volunteering visits in a gym.
Wow, those notetaking desks and chairs are literally the furniture we still have at the Nassau county campus 😂
Amazing video I loved it.. growing up around that building I always wondered what it was like inside.. when was it you were in there..
Now you have an idea! I’m glad you enjoyed!
👍The Pink Floyd music was perfect.

In Edgewood the church was a light 🕯️🔥🤪🤯🇺🇲🇩🇪🏴
Do you remember the lynchard
I went to nursing school here for 3 years in the late 60's. I'm just sick seeing it like this.
It’s getting repurposed as we speak! They’re converting the buildings into an apartment complex
Shine on your crazy diamond🤩
🤭
Good video, music too loud
I love the use of pink Floyd in the opening
How does this compare to the kings park psych center and pilgrims, only been inside kings park
Edgewood rules Deer Park strong island NY
