I am from India🇮🇳. SNCF the name is enough. 331 kmph in the year of 1953.Just, I can't believe this. And 578.8 kmph in 2007.No body can't brake this achievement. Love❤ from India🇮🇳. 🙏🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
FANSTATIC, the French how progressive they were and still are today All of that done with 1500DC the current draw must of been huge look at the arcing pantographs. The French pioneered the 25KV AC system which is the bench mark around the world Now the French did 575 KMP on the TGV As and Englishman living in Australia I take my hat off to the French. Viva La FRANCE your the best
Fantastic video. The pantograph lost a bot of its copper, great arcing. What current was drawn at that speed.-.-.-.- Vidéo fantastique.
Thanks for amazing vid But I should not be surprised that the pantograph shredded at speed and high DC current. If it is not a problem, that is 350km/h or more real. BB9004 has extreme gear reducers (it is not reducers :-D ) of 1:~0,8
To quote Speedy Gonzales: "I like it !, I like it !, I like it !." Wonderful film, love the style, exciting, exhilarating ! Any chance of adding English subtitles? My last French lesson was 39 years ago and I'm not so good now.
@chemiker494 actually the current record stands at 574.8 km/h so yes we have come a long way from 331km/h. Current TGV's run as fast as this "real machine" in normal service. In that case you can become a real man just by riding a TGV.
Nice video and this BB9004 is in Thomas and Friends as Etienne in which he beat Mallard's brother Spencer and his cousins LNER A3 Flying Scotsman & and the prototype LNER A0/A1 Gordon in the great race link is ua-cam.com/video/4ZECFc8VKqA/v-deo.html
@chemiker494 much more speed than 357 km / h at single running lokomotives would not be possible because then the Pressure forces are too large ...only trains (like TGV or ICE) can go faster
Oh my bad I thought they were on about what they're gonna serve at the buffet when they make the TGV...I'm just english, but im sure that didn't come as a sub
@BlauerSittich It would have been interesting to have seen the difference in speed had an aerodynamic nose been put on the front! Seems strange post 'streamlining' style to have a powerful 'brick' make the record. Tres bon encore pour La France.
I guess this kinda still holds the record of the fastest DC electric loco. But hats off to SNCF to reach that speed only on 1500V DC 👏👏

This is awesome footage. The French knew how to do these high speed rail experiments and with 1500 Volts DC. Vive la France !
Thank you for uploading those three parts of this historic film. Thumbs up!
Vive la France!

@BlauerSittich
26 km/h in 51 years, that is what I call progress!
Those were real men and real machines back then, impressive.
That Shows how risky it was
Who's the musician in the documentary crew because i like the music
I don’t know what orchestra recorded this soundtrack but the composers are Philippe Parès and Roger Roger. Quite old as this film is from 1955.
@@SoManyInterests thanks

Is it still the record for DC locomotives? 🤔
All following records were made with AC-Loks/Trains..
Absolutely
Facture (Biganos) / Ychoux / Morcenx... Que de souvenirs !
Vive les Chemin de Fer 1955 331kmh 1981 380kmh 2007 574kmh BRAVO!! SUPER!!
I say this holds the speed record for a DC locomotive for years to come, especially 1500v DC.

Well done SNCF & France!
It's weird to see that type of loco at that speed :))
GENIAL CET APPAREIL

They did. The pantos melted during the acceleration at about 300 kph, they lowered the aft pantograph and raised the forward one.
@@SoManyInterests ˋlouis the pantograph is kaput meh wel just lower ze other onè probebly the french back then

lol, best upload ever!!!.....
@BlauerSittich but not with a big difference! France is the best! Always was , an will be!
@harrisonaard1 yeah but it is more the power as the aerodynamics which decides ^^

contrary to common belief, the fairing at the rear is more important and was provided then.
They didn't have resin bonded ballast then either!
