“Mismanaged the money” is a niiiiice colloquialism for inheritance hijacking. OP’s VERY lucky to hv an atty uncle to assist, and the extended family’s support.
It’s always the one that’s more capable that gets punished for their competence…smh.
Also the fact that the grandma left the aunt in charge instead of the parents of the kids whose money it was is very telling.

Hmm my interpretation of what OP said her parents said is that they both lean more towards art but were unable to pursue a career in that field so they're putting everything into the more artistic inclined sibling to live their dreams through her. Things'll get ugly for her soon too when they take credit for her achievements and force their opinions on her work.
2 items 1) fraud and 2) breach of fiduciary duty

I checked OP’s comments and this for sure is not over. To basically summarize her most recent comment which was six days ago; she’s meeting her family including her brother Saturday (editor’s note; if I mathed it right this meeting would have been on the 4th), and according to her grandmother the more they look into it the “hotter under the collar they get” which makes OP think that her parents REALLY screwed up.
Honestly though the only silver lining I see in this, which is the bare fucking minimum, is that OP has other family on her side 😓
EDIT: OMFG I AM SO MAD ON BEHALF OF OP. The very next comment from her was her saying her parents have been making her pay the internet bill to “build credit”. This poor girl I want to deck her parents and sister so fucking badly
You can't "build credit" by paying for a bill that is in someone else's name!
@@hrobinson9701 apparently they asked and put the bill in her name when they moved into her Mamaw’s house. Thankfully it seems like her grandmother is going to help her check to make sure there’s nothing else in her name that she isn’t aware of. I was flabbergasted by her parents before reading the comments but I honestly want blood after reading that their MINOR child has been paying for the internet for the whole house for a few years at this point.
I had open heart surgery at age 16. My church and community did a fundraiser and a benefit singing fundraiser to raise the money for all of my hospital bills. They raised more than enough to pay for my medical bills AND at least 2 years of university to give me a jump start since I lost all my sports scholarships after I had my strokes. My mom secretly used ALL the money on buying her a new car and paying off her house and other personal loans. When I turned 18 and graduated high school... I found out when I Got The 2 Year Past Due Medical Bills Sent To Me By The Collection Agency. 😡

I was able to get most of it forgiven thanks to special state funds that was available for uninsured people....which I was as my mom took me off her insurance the day I turned 18. It took me forever to get my credit scores raised. Plus I have been uninsurable though my work due to my pre existing conditions. It's only been within the last 15 years that I have been able to see my specialists and get the medical tests that I have needed....thanks to marrying my military husband.
You can't get blood from a turnip. My mom is still broke and her younger siblings and her 93 year old mom still has to help her out. Mom works full time and always has, but never has any money. 🤷♀️ I just take it as a life lesson to NEVER be her. My daughter is 18 and graduates high school soon. She will be able to do whatever she wants to do with her life. ❤️

NTA. OP should DEFINITELY sue them. They each should have had a portion of that money. His parents are JERKS I hope he does sue them. So glad OP has the Uncle and Grandparents on their side.

Poor gi, I am happy she atleast has support for other family members. Wonder if parents just spend a idiotic amount on the school of the one favorite kid or if they spend it on other things. Either way they suck!!

My parents did this to me... I saved money for college and they took it to go to the casino... It took me years, but I'm finally no contact with my parents. You can only be hurt so much before you say no more.
I read her comments, she actually gives very detailed updates, and oh boy these parents sure are something. This all happened a month before she was going to graduate. OP's parents are angry since they did not get the support they wanted for perusing their artistic dreams, because their parents stipulated they also had to learn something practical in addition to learning their arts and they refused to, but the dad's siblings got the help they needed, so in OP' parents' minds they are helping their artistic daughter in a way they were not helped. In reality OP's parents are just dead beat selfish leeches.
I honestly think they want her to stay with them only so she can keep paying the internet bill, and I would not be surprised if they were planning to charge her rent. OP said it could be they are using her living with them to guilt the grandparents into giving them money, and her uncle only wants to get a lean on the house to keep them from continuing to leech off of their parents. Her college rules state their house is too far away, so she can not stay with them even if she wanted.
The brother is livid, and is suing their parents. OP does not want to do anything, and is giving up on any hopes of getting any of the money that was left for her. She says the parents are poor, so where is the money going to come from if she does sue.
Supposedly, they never really acted like parents to her anyway, they called her an unwanted accident, once she showed no interests in the arts they lost interest in her, and she was either raised by other family members or had to financially support herself. I am surprised no one ever called CAS on them. It sure sounds like there was a solid case of neglect going on.

Under the circumstances, HELL NO, NTA! And given that your parents and possibly sister are now going to be giving you constant hell at home, is it at all possible to move in with one of your other relatives?
So the dad is bitter that he didn't get to pursue art when he was in his 20s and is now vicariously trying to live through his daughters artistic pursuits.
Poor kid. There is a reason that the parents were only given the money as a last option. I wish that the money had been in some hard to touch trust fund instead because it looks like the parents treated it like their spending cash.

Is there a document that specifically says it must be used for all 3 kids? It was used partially for the oldest brother, but was there anything that said they couldn’t use the rest on just 1 child? Did it need to be divided evenly or at least used on each kid to some degree??? I mean, I sort of think they used it to buy a car and groceries or pay bills at this point. But wanna make sure something does say she is entitled to part of it
Op make sure you record everything. Get legal advise and see if someone can go over the will to see if they're is any mention on what they want there money put into. Then they'd get in even bigger trouble and poor grandpapa having his birthday ruined by asscon 1s
After reading more there off the scale for asscon 1 (they used ops name for a credit card or something like that from what i understand too shes asked grandma to run a credit check)
