- We've now left Mexico for Guatemala! We took our time travelling from Tulum to Cancun for 1 night then continued to the beautiful historic city of Antigua for another night before finally making it to our destination of San Pedro La Laguna on the shore of Lake Atitlan.
The journey saw us take 1 coach, 1 plane, 2 arranged transfers, a ferry and a tuk tuk before finally reaching our AirBnb! See how we got on and some of the beautiful sights we saw along the way!

Antigua is totally awesome. I can get a bit noisy at night so make sure you're not dead in the centre but an amazing place anyway.Also Lake atitlan is really cool, a lot of backpackers and a really good vibe. We love it here! thanks for your support! :)

Guatemala is on my travel bucket list and I hope to make it there in the next couple of years. The Lava Terrace Bar looked awesome. Did you feel safe in Antigua and traveling to Lake Atitlan? Sometimes I travel solo I want to get a sense of how safe it be for a female solo traveler.
Antigua is totally safe as is lake Atitlan, they are both fairly touristy areas and you should have no safety concerns (Obviously outside of these areas of course you should do some research and be cautious). In terms of travelling between the 2 we took a semi private shared shuttle bus with some other backpackers, I would say this is the best option rather than using local public transport like chicken busses. The city looks colorful. The food market looks great. Does the city feel safe? Heard that some cities in S America are not v safe.
We haven't felt unsafe for 1 moment. Of course Antigua and Lake Atitlan are fairly touristy areas in comparison to other parts of the country so it's just a case of being careful and doing your research. You should definitely visit! Thanks for your support!
I (Halef) have never been to Antigua, but Michael has. One of our good friends live there - you should hike the Acatenango Volcano! We (Michael) did a vlog there too, and it was quite challenging according to him!

Between the airport and Antigua we used Uber which was super cheap and between Antigua and Lake Atitlan we used Quetzal Trekkers www.quetzaltrekkers.com/xela/book-a-shuttle-antigua-to-lago-atitlan-panajachel/ they were great! Hope this helps :) Thanks for watching.
