Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- This is the procedure for resetting the air bag light for all Nissan's. The vehicle in the video is a 2005 Nissan Xterra.
The procedure is as follows:
1. Turn key to the ON position. Wait until the airbag light turns off then immediately turn the key to the off position.
2. Wait 5 Seconds
3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 two more times
4. Turn key on and wait until the air bag light starts to flash slowly
5. Wait 10 seconds
6. Turn off the car
7. Turns it back on and the air bag light should now longer be flashing.

Worked on my '11 Leaf. The only difference is that, since there is no key to turn, you instead press the ON button twice to bring the car into Accessory2 mode. Thanks for the video! Much better than paying the dealer to reset it every 6-9 months.
I will pin this comment. Thank you for saying this. People have been asking about push button start.
No dice. This doesn't work on my '10 Cube w/push-button start. I leave my foot off the brake pedal so it doesn't actually start (although I did try the process actually starting the engine too). I would push it twice (first gets it into Acc mode, second gets it into On mode). I then wait for the airbag light to start flashing and immediately hit the button, which puts it in Off mode. Wait exactly 5 seconds. Repeat this cycle for a total of 3x. I then push the button twice and wait for airbag light to start "slow" blink. It doesn't work though. I tried six ways from Sunday, even with a stop watch to carefully monitor the Off time. No matter what, it always does the fast blink.
@@MattRidzonPE Sorry to hear that. Search on Nissan airbag and you'll find my backup plan. They sell defeat devices to circumvent the airbag passenger sensor. Before trying this I'd want to be absolutely sure it did what I think it does: make the airbag active regardless of passenger seat occupancy. That is, I'd rather have the airbag deploy in a collision when it didn't need to than fail to deploy in a collision when it did need to. I'd also want to be certain that I never had a child in the front seat.
@@OorWullie30 I'm not trying to defeat or disable the airbag system or any part of it. I'm merely trying to shut off the blinking light. I have reason to believe the system is intact, but the light was inadvertently triggered on during another unrelated car repair (e.g., an airbag connector was undone & later reconnected while working on part of the dash).
This worked on my 2012 Altima with push start
So amazing! My elderly dad just called to tell me a repair shop was going to charge him $905.00 to fix this. I watched your video, followed all the steps, and fixed his problem for $0 in just a few minutes. Super grateful!
Damnit that would have been a tear 😅 off
Glad it helped! :D
Worked on my wifes after fitting stereo top tip this saved me money
Thank you. Work as advised.
That's so awesome, really happy for you. 🙂🙏👍
This Video is 7 years old, and still helping people like me. Thanks man.
Love it!! 💪🏻💪🏻
Big facts! Fixed the issue after I was poking around in the dash on my X. :)
it just helped me
My light started flashing on the way to Raising Cane’s. Watched this video while enjoying my tendies. Reset the light in the parking lot right outside. The money I’ve saved thanks to heroes like you sharing your knowledge is incalculable. Thank you!
Bro, fixing your car while smashing trendies? Does it get any better?!? 💪🏻💪🏻 glad to help out.
Your an absolute legend. Fixed my 2016 Nissan Versa. I checked all the cables under the seats and couldn't find anything wrong. My light was blinking on and off until doing this trick. Saved me a lot of money you did.
So glad to help! 👍🏻
Great advice Ry. I worked for Nissan for 10 years and there are lots of little tricks that the technical guys don't tell you about. This being one of them.
Do you have a trick for checking drivers window whether it is the regulator/motor or the switch without taking everything apart?
What's a trick to get the AWD error to stop blinking?
I've been riding with an airbag warning light in my 08 Titan for almost 10 years!
This fixed it in 5 minutes.
Love you man!!
Hell yea! So glad you were able to knock it out. ❤️
Wow!!
6 years old and it's still helping people. Got some work done on my car and they must've affected the airbag circuit somehow. I did the reset as you did and it's gone. 2024 Y62 Patrol from Australia. Thanks!
So glad to help! Cheers!
I've been using this little Nissan for two years before I finally decided to take it over. Was prepared to take it into the shop to find out what was wrong not thinking it may just need a reset. It's off and staying off now. Other people here are right, this 6 year old video is still helping people! Thanks for posting it!
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
This was my 6th or 7th video. This one worked!!! The key was to turn it off just as it started to blink. I didn’t wait to see it start blinking again. As soon as it turns off, turn car off! 3rd time got the SLOW blink, waited 30 sec, turned off for 5 sec, turned back to ON and once airbag light went off, cranked it over. SUCCESS!! Thank You!
You're welcome. Glad it helped!
@@Rythecarguy mine doesn't blink In a GTO it stays solid
I had watched a few videos as well before i found this one.....yup gotta turn it off as it blinks
Facts
Thank-you Walter for the clarification. It did the trick on my 2003 Frontier. 👍
Thank you for your insight! Your technique Worked!! You Saved me Hundreds of Dollars!
Glad to help!
It's now Sept 2024....I used this technique on my 2008 Nissan Frontier Nismo. It worked like a charm. THANKS!!
Called my mechanic who said they don’t work on airbags and that I messed something up when I replaced my clock spring. Followed your instructions, no more airbag light. Thanks!
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching!
Was battery disconnected when you replaced the clock spring
Your videos are very exact. I just bought a 2005 Xterra and I love it. Unfortunately, a lot of the plastic has gotten brittle. Broke the center bezel. Rebuilt it and sprayed it a metallic charcoal grey. Looks awesome. Obviously, I unplugged the air bag sensor when removing the bezel. Update 07/05/23. I just reset my airbag warning light. I had a bit of trepidation. Your video helped immensely. Thank you so much for saving me money on taking it to a mechanic to have it reset. I’m sure they would have given me a bunch of mumbo-jumbo about it costing me gobs of money. I love DYI. And not giving my money to a mechanic. HOWEVER, I can seriously commend my mechanic I found who only works on foreign cars. Has always been fair and has always done a great job! Previously worked on my ‘93 Honda Accord LX. Unfortunately, it was stolen on May 31. My club was sitting on the floor behind the passenger seat. MAKE IT AS DIFFICULT OR CHALLENGING FOR DIRTY, ROTTEN THIEVES TO STEAL WHAT DOESN’T BELONG TO THEM. I was lax, and I paid for it.
You are the reason UA-cam works! Your procedure worked perfectly on our 2008 Nissan Versa. Like yourself, I had to access the centre panel to fix/reset my aftermarket stereo and then the indicator light started flashing. Thank you so much for the excellent explanation and presentation.
mine is versa 09
09 versa front end crash repaired and light was still on 👌🏻👌🏻 this process worked like a charm GOOD LOOKING OUT !!!!😊
Ok, this video sounds ridiculous! “Do this 3x, but on the 3rd try…‘make a wish’ (my translation) and the light will likely go out “!
Guess what?!?! I did it EXACTLY as this gentleman demonstrated and Shazam!!
Saved me an easy couple hundred bucks!!
Thank you my friend!!!!!!🎉
I’m sitting in my Altima following along and it worked! The dealership said they had a week wait and a $250 diagnostic fee. You showed me how in under 5 minutes. I literally waited on hold for the service department longer than this video.
You just saved everyone who used this tip a few hundred bucks. And took those hundreds from Nissan who engineer this nonsense into their vehicles, and then don't simply outline this reset procedure in the manual. Kudos to you!
🤘🏻😆🤘🏻
The Nissan dealership wanted to charge me $65 +tax to do what I just did in 30 seconds. Thanks a ton man
They charged me 135.00 *tax just to look at it and diagnose it it turned out that the airbag wire under the passanger seat was torn apart they charge anaother 260.00 * Tax to fix it
I have a 2018 pathfinder
I treid this trick abviosly didnt work because its actualy broken but before it blinked short blinks after i did this thing it bliks 1 long and 4 short blinks and repeats it self not sure what that meens
@@johnsmith-hf3uf Makes ya wanna trust a car dealer, eh??
I have this video bookmarked because I forget the process after not needing it. Thank you for making this video! You're awesome!
Works perfect on a 2009 Nissan Altima! I just redid the radio so I had to unplug the passenger seat airbag light. This saved me so much trouble and it worked first try. Great tutorial easy to follow.
Thanks so much Ry. Your comments about having the center console and that triggering the flashing airbag light was PERFECT! That's when the light started flashing, and your simple procedure was great. Someone below said you're the reason UA-cam works, and they're right. Your videos are top-notch. You're humble and explain things well, and your cutaways and simple graphics are perfect. Keep up the good work Ry! You're a godsend!
Thanks Jeff! I really appreciate it. 🤟🏻
the reason that happens is because you probably forgot to disconnect the battery. when you’re messing with airbags anywhere wether it’s in the seats or in the console and you’re unplugging them, you have to disconnect the battery for at least 15 minutes before
FYI to all viewers, its 2021 and this tip still worked for me. Car type: 2008 Nissan Micra. Thanks for the video!
Works great! My airbag light came on after I installed a new battery. Thanks for sharing this and I know it will save people a lot of money going forward.
Glad you got it sorted out!
Perfect, Perfect, PERFECT! Worked on my '05 Pathfinder. It's IMPORTANT to turn off BEFORE it starts blinking. I watched another video first that didn't emphasize that, and it didn't work. I followed Ry's advice and perfect the first time.
So glad it worked for you! Its a goof feeling to get rid of some dash lights! Thanks for watching and have a great day!
Lm
Me too..! Didn't work with other video.
Brilliant, saved me $70 for the local garage to do it for me, "with their diagnostic tool" 2004 March, thanks heaps
Took the seat out to clean carpet from an AC leak. You saved me another chunk of money getting that light reset!! Please continue to publish helpful solutions like this!
Will do! Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much. I was scared to death, didn’t know why my airbag light was blinking and worried the air bag would deploy while I was driving. Tried your solution on my 2004 frontier and it worked the first time ☺️
This is great.
Worked on my 2014 Titan. The light started flashing after a week of -30c weather.
Thank you so much!!
I can say it’s my first time fixing my car problems 😊😌
I replaced the clock spring after putting everything back together the air bag light came back on I thought maybe I bought a defective clock spring until I came across the video and I did exactly what you said and unbelievably the air bag stop flashing. Amazing.... Thanks man... You're better than a Nissan auto dealer repair man... Nissan would of changed me more than $100.00 just to check the flashing air bag light you and your video absolutely is free. Again thanks man
You're welcome, thanks for watching dude.
Thanks so much my Nissan wingroad started doing this today and I fixed the problem exactly how you explained in your very clear and easy instructions, much appreciated 👍
Worked on my 2004 nissan pathfinder armada. Thanks bro. Came on after I installed a aftermarket stereo.
Worked with me after 3 years of blinking 😂 thanks a lot
Wow. I couldn't hold out that long!
Lol 5 years for me
Removed my passenger seat on a 2017 Versa and started the car with the seat still unplugged. Whoops. Airbag light of death came on. Thought I would have to drag it down to the Nissan dealership to pay to turn it off. Found this video and followed your instructions and it worked perfectly on my car. Light is now off! Incredible. Everyone online was saying there was no way I could do it at home. You saved me some money!
So glad to help! 👍🏻
Excellent advice! Always a reasoned and accurate procedure, in all the areas that I have used. Thanks Ry!
Thank you! Worked like a charm on a 2010 Nissan Frontier.
This is actually amazing! Thanks for saving me from taking this in for such a simple fix.
Just what I needed! As another comment said, this video is 7 years old and still helping people out! Thanks! 🔥
Thank you thank you!!! Worked on my 2014 Versa perfectly after replacing my stereo
Thanks .
Did Worked perfect for my Nissan Juke 2010.
Thanks !
Worked like a charm. Thanks!
tried this Yesterday on my 2013 Nissan Frontier because all of a sudden, my Air Bag light started blinking out of nowhere!!! WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HELP!!!!!!
Thank you for showing how to do it.
I just did it "
I was about to go to the dealer!
But no more"
You sir are a legend! Thank you this worked a treat.
Thank you for uploading this video my friend you save me some money I did it and it works fine I have a 08 sentra
Awesome 👍
I tell you what thank God for youtube and google. This really helped me. I took my Nissan truck to the dealership for an airbag recall to replace the cover. After the dealer did the repair my airbag light started blinking. It was not doing it before. The dealership or stealership lol told me they would do a diagnostic on my truck to see the cause which would cost me $$. I was like the light did not start blinking until yall did the repair for the recall i should not be liable. They argued that it was not their fault cause all they did was replaced the cover. I sure did not want to go through another ordeal with a dealership cause they will see to it that you pay something. Thank you Ry the car guy for this video. It sure saved me a headache from the dealership and they probably would have done the same thing and charged me for it who knows. I definitely subscribed to you thanks again. Its a lot tricks we consumers don't have any idea exist for vehicles.
You're welcome! Thanks for the sub! really trying to make it to 100k
Great video and editing Ry! Much appreciated.
What if the light doesn’t blink ? This is for my 2014 Altima 😭
Were you able to fix it?
@@MrMHafeez no
I'm having the same problem on my 07 Xterra. The airbag light it solid and never blinks.
Ry the car guy for president 2020👌💯💦👑🙌
2024
Any President who fixes things and doesn't give out fake news has my vote! Ty +1.
Worked on my 2014 Frontier. Installed a new stereo yesterday and got the blinking light. Followed steps exactly as shown and worked the first try. Thanks!!
Awesome! Glad to help
Worked perfectly for the 2008 Nissan Frontier. Thank You car Guy!
My pleasure! 👍🏻
Words cannot describe my full appreciation towards this video. You have saved me financially and spiritually. Thank you
I just left the dealership because they said they needed a whole day to diagnose the problem. I was going to bring it in tomorrow but now it’s fixed. Saved me money and time thanks so much.
Heck yea, I love to hear that. You’re welcome, glad to help.
Thanks buddy, your help one Brazilian guy in USA 🤣
I just reset the air bag light in my granddaughter's 2013 Rogue using this method. She had previously taken it to a Nissan dealer at her college town. They charged for a diagnosis and wanted to replace the air bag and the wiring harness!!!! The vehicle also needed a wheel speed sensor. I broke it changing a front wheel bearing cluster. The dealer's total estimate for these two items was over $3900!!! I ordered a sensor from Rock Auto for $24 and fixed that.
Works on my X-trail T30. I had a deep clean done and the seats were removed. The airbag warning light came on. I followed your instructions and the airbag warning light is now off. Thanks very much for your excellent video. All the best, Terry
Man you save my bacon. Just spent £500 on repairs, was going to cry if this was going to cost a lot of money. I’m driving a Nissan note 08 . This worked first time thank you 🙏
This brilliant @@@ it worked for me. My mechanic tried to reset it with his fancy equipment to no avail. He quoted me $420 to replace the air bag module
You saved me the time and $NZ 420 . Thank you heaps
I recently replaced my Nissan Altima radio unit and had to remove the middle vents, had to subsequently unplug the airbag light and it wouldn’t stop flashing on my way to work. Saw your vid and it’s gone, 7 years old but still helping! Thanks man 🙏🫡
2008 Nissan Sentra, just pulled over and tried this in a gas station parking lot. It worked! Thanks for sharing this!
Just helped me. I thought it was going to be a trip back to the mechanic after I just picked it up from there. Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for this information resetting the air bag in my 2005 xterra. I took it last week to the dealer and they replaced my airbag module and charged me $1174, two days later the airbag light came on took it back and they charged me $255 and replace the clock spring on the airbag the next day the light came on blinking again. After watching your video, I went out and followed the steps as you showed and my airbag light went out. Thank you so much for this information. I may need to talk to the dealership and see what I can do to get my money back.
Yes sir! So glad to help and I'm sorry to hear about all the troubles. If it keeps coming back on your most likely culprit will be the wiring in the seat or even the airbag light in the dash.
I have been watching this light blink for 3 days I followed your instruction and the light is finally off kudos to you thank you for your help
Had this issue after a return trip from Virginia. The first two or three attempts I just about gave up. I gave it one more try . Bam ! Worked ! I as dreading pulling into the Nissan dealership. 2008 SE with 289 miles. Looks like new. The xterras always been garaged.
This worked on my 2010 Nissan Xterra like a charm! On position, off for 5 seconds then on three times, wait 10 seconds in off position, on again in slow flash, wait 30 seconds, off, on to check light shuts off, then start the car!
I helped jump my coworkers car in -30* F windchill last week and I didn't want my X to die too so I left it running when I put the cables on, must have tripped the airbag sensor but no other issues. The "passenger airbag off" light lit up left side of console and the one on the dash started flashing NONSTOP and it was so annoying I put up with it for a week until I wanted to punch the dashboard but instead I put a piece of tape over it. Debated taking it to a mechanic but they'll always charge you too much for the little things.
Next day, watched Ry's video and fixed it myself in 5 minutes (including watching the video) 😅Thank you sooo much!
I got hit from behind at a red-light this week. No damage, but my husband was the first person to sit on the passenger side and the light started flashing. Your instructions solved the problem.
I would like to thank you so much !! My Airbag light was flashing and I was panicking. I’m a woman and had nobody to help me. I took the car to Autozone and when they put it on their diagnostic computer, it came up with no codes at all (zero). I figured this might just be a problem like you are talking about here. I studied your video several times and took notes. I did it exactly as you demonstrated--and guess what? The airbag light is now off after the first few seconds where all the other lights are on as well. And it stays off while I’m driving. You saved me money. I will donate to your video as soon as I have some money of my own. Oh and I have a 2018 Nissan Versa SV.
Really helpful vid..i had this problem and now it fixed after watching this video. Only question..after reseting, should i still be concerned that my airbags could hav problems or is it al fixed?
Thanks, brilliant, many thanks from Dom in England.
My pleasure mate! Thank YOU for the super thanks. 😃 have a great weekend.
I have watched this video multiple times over the years for my 2012 pathfinder. Each time was from me disconnecting the battery to do some kind of work. Awesome bit of knowledge thanks!
Wow this is amazing. Even though video is 4 years old, it still worked for me in 2023. I went ahead and followed the steps and it wiped off the abs light like a charm. I was even shocked. Thank you very much!
Glad it helped! You're welcome ☺️
You fricken Rock! Thanks! I have a 2004 Armada with 380,000 miles. When I saw the airbag light start flashing, I thought it was a real airbag problem which likely would have totaled the car. You video worked and I keep driving the vehicle until at least 500,000 miles.
So glad to hear it!! Just rebuilt my Titan at 217,000. Your armada gives me hope! 👍🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I saw this video and never thought it could work and now I'm sat in my Nissan NV200 with no flashing warning light!
Thank you so very much, I owe you a pint 😁
💪🏻💪🏻 so glad to hear. Cheers
It worked! After I installed a carplay unit on my 2007 Nissan Altima, my airbag light started blinking. This video fixed it!!!
Had to disconnect the airbag wire under the front passenger seat. Putting it back together triggered the flashing airbag light. Your procedure worked perfectly, saving me a trip to the dealership. Thanks!
Glad to help! Thanks for watching.
This has been bugging me in my car for over a year! Followed your easy instructions and light is FINALLY OFF!! Got a subscription! I had replaced my head unit and swapped the face plate disconnecting the passenger, also forgot to disconnect the battery so had a nice arc, thought it was due to that as it started right after 😂😂😂
You're welcome, thanks for the sub! It's annoying when it happens but not a big deal to resolve! 💪🏻💪🏻
Thanks for the video with graphics and the timing to reset the flashing airbag light. It worked well on my 2010 Nissan Sentra in 2023. I hope the airbag flashing light does not come back on, and if it does, I can repeat the procedure. Since at the start, all the dashboard lights come and stay solid for the first 7 seconds and then go off, the system is working, and there is nothing to worry about while driving. Your feedback on the last part of the post will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for posting this! I removed the seats and thoroughly cleaned them and when reinstalled, the lights flashed. This fixed it!
That fixed my xtrail T30 2005 2.2L diesel been annoying me for 10 months due to changing interior to cream leather from gray fabric mot is tomorrow and obd scan tool doesn’t work on Nissan soo glad I watched you’re video saved me £75 from going to garage to get it cleared although I was looking to buy a scan tool for £120! Thank you!!
You’re welcome, so glad to help! :D Hope you passed your MOT.
Bro my dealership was gonna charge me 350!! Just for checking the problem, the a further however much if they said they needed to change the airbag, saved me a but load of stress time and money. Thank you sir 5 stars
350 is insane!! Glad to help man.
I removed the Centre console to fix a Blower issue. Air bag warning light was in after I replaced everything. This reset by Ry sorted the problem! Thanks
ohhh my goodness, I just took my 2013 Rogue to a dealer this morning, their computers were down so couldn't give me an estimate for fix, and said they'll call me later with one. You my dear just saved me $$$ thank you kindly ☺
Omg Thankyou. IT WORKED perfectly the first time. And I didnt have to watch a whole 20 minutes of you talking about random things I'm didnt come here for.. THANKYOU FOR THAT LOL. Straight to the point, gets things done!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
I just replaced my stereo and freaked out with the flashing air bag light, thank you so very much for the simple quick fix. You're amazing man
Thanks, and thank you for watching. 💪🏻
I know this video is old… literally just used it on a friends Nissan note 2012. He’s been to mechanic for 6 months with problem. Now it’s gone! Thanks very much man! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Very cool! Glad to hear!
I changed my AC evaporator for my nissan rogue 08 which requires that the dash board to be totally removed . Started geting the air bag flashing light afterwards. Found this video and I tried it. It worked!!! Thanks
I just had a new Alpine stereo with navigation installed in my Nissan Juke. Airbag light kept flashing after install. The reset procedure in this video solved the problem. It actually was easy. Thank you!!!!
Very nice!
Did exactly as per instruction and it's working on my Nissan Armada 2010!! Tried to erase this fault using OBD twice and didn't work and ended up in watching this video and it works perfectly!! Million thanks for this trick mate ❤. Cheers!!
Glad it helped
THANK YOU SO MUCH! This worked for my 2014 Nissan rogue! I took my car to Pep boys and they couldnt solve the problem.. However your Video saved me and a entire expense!!
If anyone has this same problem try his technique.. you might have ti try a few times but it Works!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!
So great I removed my seats to clean under them and when I put all the connections back my airbag light was on I found this video worked 100% thanks so much
Had my light start flashing on my 2016 nissan frontier today. Obviously concerned and annoyed. I came across this video and it worked perfectly. In the event it does come back on I can then take the next step and have it looked at. Just wanted to give my thanks and let others know that it works. Cheers!
Excellent! Thanks for sharing.
Legend! As we say here in the UK. The process worked the first time on a Juke after removing my glove box to get to the cabin filter.
😂
2013 Rogue, this just worked perfectly. Had to replace the clock spring and thought I was going to have to get a better scanner or take to dealer. All clear
Watched video and gave it a try in my 2010 Versa. Worked first time. Important to pay attention to the timing of turning the key off and on. Light will be solid and then go out just before it begins to blink. Turn key off just as the light goes from solid to out, BEFORE IT STARTS BLINKING. Follow his instructions exactly. Thanks Ry.
My man!! It worked on my friend's Dualis 2008. Service mechanic was trying to take advantage of him. Was going to charge an arm and a leg. Thanks dude
Yea it's pure robbery out there. Glad to help.
Thank You, worked for my 2007 Note.
It's crucial to turn off the key, before the light flashes! Tried a few times watching different tutorials and they didn't mentioned that, so the procedure wasn't working.
It still works for nissan patrol y61, now the flashing airbag has disappeared!! Thank you so much for sharing the info. You are the best!!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching
Your are absolute legend my friend. Had started pulling the console over out before having the common sense to try see if an easier solution exists
Glad to help!
