Thanks, this worked for me. I tried this method before, but I think I was waiting too long after the flashing light went out. This time , I turned the key to off immediately when the air bag light went out - just like you showed in the video,

My Nissan Altima 2013 SV 2.5 airbag light on the instrument cluster came on this past Friday. When I notice that I pulled to the side of the road shut the car off and the light went off. When I started the vehicle back up after 4 hours it being park the airbag light came back on and it was just a solid light.

Hi Felplay. After the work is performed a self diagnosis check is required to verify there is no malfunction in the system.
I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra SR. I have owned it for two years on August 13th 2014 and it hasn't had any issues since Day One... Until now. The airbag light is flashing and I am scared to put it into diagnostic mode, in case I can get it out of it. Nothing has changed inside of the car and the only real thing I can think of that I did differently was turn the steering wheel to the left harder than normal(All the way to the left). Any ideas?
Mark Everson It could be a number of things unless you have a scan tool or place the vehicle into diagnostic mode. If you're worried about tooling with it just bring it to a good mechanic. Ask your family and/or friends if they have a good mechanic. If you're lucky they may check the code for you w/o charge. Good luck!
CarsNToys I actually put it in diagnostic mode and the light went off which means that it was just a glitch or hiccup right? Now when I turn my car on it doesn't flash anymore.
Mark Everson That's awesome. Glad it worked out. Just keep an eye on it. The Sentra in the video (a 2008 model) did the exact same thing for months; then one day I got an error code for the rear side curtain airbags. Turned out there was a recall from Nissan. So if it happens again and you do get an error code just search if there is a recall for your vehicle. Cheers.

Thank you for your video. I have a question: if my side airbag on the driver's side was out due to an accident, do i have to replace it with a new one? If not, will that affect my whole airbag system--a.k.a. the other airbags (esp the one in the wheel) will not come out next time in an accident?

joe hays Looks like the airbag diagnosis unit. I downloaded the manual you mentioned, and it was a great deal of help. Hopefully this can be proved that it was the fault of the accident, because it was not on prior.

Okay I have a 2009 Nissan Sentra my flashing airbag light would be on 4 seconds off 3 seconds over and over.. or can you tell me where I could get the info for on the codes.... Also I had to change the clock spring cuz none of the buttons are working it wasn't until the airbag light went off which annoyed me even more but I changed the clock spring everything works the only thing I got is that blinking light again I did as you instructed to get to the code part of turning on and off the ignition and it's on for 4 seconds off 3 seconds over and over thanks in advance

I have a 2010 nissan sentra base model. I noticed that the airbag light came on after I replaced the motor blower and resistor. I know that I had to disconnect three clips from the BCM..do you think this caused it? I swear this model nissan is trash. We have had a new engine, catalytic converter, alternator, starter, new battery, subframe bushings, cv joints, struts, shocks, and then I fixed the ac because it would have costed $1300..and honestly, after doing it I see why...it's an easy job but the tight places make it soo difficult

I went through the pattern of the key on and then the airbag light comes on and then goes off and turn the key off I did that six times in my airbag light stayed off I guess thanks

Thank you for the info! What do you suggest for finding out weight/height restrictions for front passenger seat air bag light? I checked the manual and looked at a few videos. Legally, it seems like all is within the allowable #s, but the car air bag light still lights up.

Luba B I'm not sure what the weight limit is. However, the OCS identifies not only weight but size, position and detects if there's a child seat.

Hi, I got a instrument cluster for my 07 Nissan Sentra 2.0 from a salvage yard. When I plugged it in the airbag light was flashing and the ads, brake, ps light were on and the light wasn't working on gauge. Is there anything I can do to turn them off/fix them? I got another cluster because my fuel gauge keeps showing inaccurate fuel readings and that's after I replaced my fuel pump like 3x's. I just came across an article stating that many people are/have experienced this same problem with their fuel gauge/pump. It's a faulty resistor in the fuel pump.

Hi getting a flash code up on my dads nissan qashqai 57 plate 1.5dci he has changed the air bag module comes back flashing after reset the flash the flash code short short short short long then repeats. Hi, my Sentra SR '11 cruise control lights come on while driving without being engaged, all the controls buttons on the steering wheel (cruise control, Bluetooth, volume up down) won't work only the horn works.

By coincidence I have exactly the 2008 Nissan Sentra 2.0 S, and I have been having this airbag blinking light problem for some time. I took it to my repair shop, and they replaced the seatbelt tensioner under warranty, which was great!
Of course, three days later, the light was flashing again. Now of course I'm looking at over $800 to replace the airbag control unit, not under warranty this time. I generally trust the dealership shop, but I just want to make sure we're not hitting this with overkill when it could just be a faulty wire due to the repeated adjusting of the tensioner. They're just following the standard repair procedure on this, but I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have on the matter!
Also, thanks so much for this video on accessing the diagnostic codes. That's a little trick I didn't know that should come in handy in the future!
Aaron Bilawchuk Unfortunately, airbag components are extremely expensive. You can try getting an estimate from another shop and maybe save some cash. Some people will also buy a used part from a donor vehicle. Completely up to you but maybe that can save you some cash. I'd go for the option with the best warranty.

Guanhui Cheng You have to get the vehicle into diagnostic mode. In order to get into diagnostic mode, just follow the steps I show in this video. (Starts at 2:30 in video)
I took out my driver seat out of the car to clean so I took out all those wiring underneath and when I put it back the airbag light is always on, any advice? thanks

player1nyc I don't see a code for on 7 secs; 3 flashes and the pattern repeats. I do see a code for on 3 secs; 3 fast flashes and the patter repeats. If that's the case it's the front drivers' side seat belt pre tensioner. If you can try to upload a video of the flash pattern.

Mine came on after having my shifter assembly replaced on my 08 Sentra, did this trick, went away, but a month later came back. I've retried and the flashing comes back after 5-10 min, and the blinking sequence doesn't match up to any on your diagram. I called the shop who did the work and he said it might not be related to the work he did as he didnt disable it, weird coincidence though it came on a few minutes after I picked up the car. What do you suggest? Dealer said $150 just for diagnostic, that's crazy!

Hi there! Thank you for the video. I have a nissan sentra '08 and recently the airbag light started flashing when the cover of the engine was remoced. I was trying to check the pattern on the video but I didn't see a match. So it turns on for 7 seconds, off, then continues to blink every 1-1.5 second continuously, no delays or gaps in the blinks.
I resetted and was able to turn off the flashing because it was annoying but now I'm curious if there was really something wrong w it. Hope you still have the troubleshooter :)
I'm afraid that isn't enough info. After blinking every 1.5 secs it should stop and then provide 3 or 4 fast flashes. Nonetheless, I remember reading there was a recall for the side airbags. The NHTSA has a site where you can search - www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

So, I followed the directions for going into diagnostic mode and the airbag warning light stopped flashing. Either there is nothing to worry about or, I reset and may never know what the problem is. I hope I'm good to go. Thanks.

+Krisael Resendiz If you can take a vid and post it I'll take a look for you. Other option is bringing the car over to Nissan and having them check the codes. It won't be inexpensive but you want the SRS system to work correctly in the event on an accident.
