- MOST COMMON REASON AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON
We will explain what is the most common reason for the airbag light to be on on your car. We based this on our observation and 7/10 of ten cars that had the airbag light on was due to bad occupant sensor, known as occupancy mat, or seat occupancy sensor. If the occupancy sensor goes bad your airbag will be on because the airbag system will not be able to detect if the person sitting in the passenger seat is heavy enough for the passenger airbag to turned on or off. The seat occupancy sensor mat is integrated in the passenger seat and it will often require disassembly in order to replace the seat occupancy sensor. If your airbag light is on by scanning your airbag module you will be able to figure out what caused your airbag light to be on.

1. Ignition off
2. There are yellow wiring harnesses with a connector under both front seats, these are for occupancy detection. They might have a loose connection. Wiggle and push the connectors.
3. Ignition on.
This resolved it for me, however light only disappeared after the second startup.

Thank you. I didn't know it would indicate "off" when no one was seated. Easy fix. Just sit on it.
For me it was an undercharged battery. It read 12v but was only a 40% charge. I charged it up to full and problem went away. It then clicked why my radio kept shutting down and coming back on. My guess is my stereo system is taking too much to keep it running from alternator, and not charging battery properly. Couple that with short journeys and bingo, dead or dying battery. Hope this helps someone.
Thank you for the video. So I was messing around with the plugs under the seat and nothing happened with the passenger side, but the drivers side did cause it to go off but only temporarily. It came back on when driving. SO I pressed them again it went off again, but still driving makes it come off. What is wrong do you think? And what verbaige should I use to relay that to a mechanic so I dont get hosed? Thank you in advance!!
I have 2019 Toyota Hiace Crew. I took out the rear seats (one bench seat 3 seatbelts). Now I have SRS system malfunction. I want the rear seat outs permanently, but I want the airbags to work. The connector is 8pin. Can I put 2ohm resistors across all 4 pairs. I assume 6 pins are the 3 seat belts and the other two I don't know, occupancy sensor, weight sensor...??

on a 04-09 toyota prius, the seat belt receptacle in the drivers side has wiring and a sensor in it, mine got damaged and turned on the airbag light. replaced the connector and harness and airbag light went off

My daily is a 2016 Veloster Turbo. Today I went to visit my wife at CVS minute clinic and the road to get there is horrible. I feel like my car now rides rough. The suspension is hard and I have 18 Rotiform rims with low profile tires. Anyway I was on the interstate and even then the road is bumpy in some area. My airbag light came on when I started my car, so that I could drive home. When I got home, I check the yellow wire and snug it back and restarted my car. The low went out. There was also a dry leaf that was wedge in between the yellow wire and the other wire. So I guess In my case. My airbag light came on because of a leaf. 😮

i got a 2008 mazda cx7 and it keeps blowing the 30amp power window fuse in the fuse box under the hood.Here is what started my problem.A hose blowed and it got and blowed head gasket.So i changed it and put timing chain and vvt gear and when i was done it stared right up and ran better than it ever had but it leaked water so i tore it back apart and coudlt find the leak so i put it back together and had no water leak but it leaked oil lol so i took it apart again and couldnt find the dam oil leak but when it leaked oil it ran perfect and the fans kicked on and off like they should.I put it back together and had no leaks at all but the dam fans wont work so i tryed everything i knew and decided to run a wire from fan to fuse box and found a spot where it was hot with key on it was just a spot that had a hot terminal only in it so i put a fuse in it and ran my wire from the other side of the fuse and it was working great for about 5 minutes then the fuse didnt blow like shud it melted and now the power window fuse blows ever time you put one in and ive checked all wiring harnesses and can find a short nowhere .lmk if you have any idea whats wrong with it id really appreciate it

loose pin on the arming circuit, if qualified remove airbag and ensure good contact between plug and device
If your airbag warning light is on don’t touch the airbag place because the airbag could go off and that’s not good
Can u have auto zone run their scanner on it will that catch these issues
the last time I took my Honda to Auto Zone to have them use their scanner to detect a problem, the guy at the counter told me they don't do that anymore and told me I had to do it myself, and handed me the computer. I am 71 years old and not very flexible anymore, and maneuvering around to find and plug in the plug was very difficult. Does Auto Zone REALLY not "do this anymore," or was this guy just being an ass?

my grandson just installed a backup camera in my Mitsubishi Outlander sport 2017. the camera works great, but now I get a flashing warning stating the airbag needs servicing. he put his code reader on it and it didn't show any codes. he also checked for connectors or sensors that may have become unplugged but couldn't find anything. any suggestions?
Did you ever figured out the issue? Same problem for me, just installed a backup camera and now the airbag is on
@@PercalTM No - I didn't pursue it. My grandson who installed the backup camera - was pretty sure it was a loose connection somewhere. I just haven't tried to figure it out and can't afford to take it to the dealer.
@@ssergeant9682 I see, did he just erase the code? So the air bag light is no longer showing for you? I think what may happen is that when we were installing the camera and getting into the dash and unplugging the airbag apparently your not supposed to turn on your car when it’s not plugged in.

I don't think most people will spend $600 on the obd scanner you reference.
Most people just lease their car and truck these days, this scanner is for people that own a personal fleet. Where your doing your own mx day n day out.
I bought a Bluetooth one interface for 20 dollars and downloaded the app for it my phone reads codes so don't think you need 600 for a scanner
@@dawss It all depends on what youre doing, if you're just pulling codes help ts then yeah a $20 phone scanner will be fine, but if you're like me I'm doing coding, adaptation, ecm flashing, then yeah a $600 scanner is worth the money
