I thought about the idea of a model museum. Someone needs to preserve this stuff.
Models are the reason why I love fixing cars today. I built over 400 kits, from 1972-1979.
I think the seller had his own hobby shop. The number of spares, accesories, several kits of the same and how was packed points to a seller more so than a collector. Just my opinion.
I agree. Too much random stuff for a collector to have. More in line with a hobby store. Great stuff.
not much of a turnover, then, huh?
Looks like someones dad or granddad used to have a hobby shop.
Yeah, I thought that soon as I saw the type of cars he had aswell, 50s-70s muscle models scream hobby shop to me.
I agree. There are some gems in there that collectors would go for: Johan, old Craftsman and Revell kits not seen in over 50 years. But the rest are more common, easier to kits. Nothing really to do back flips over.
Man I don’t even build cars but I loved y’all’s enthusiasm here 😊
It is so wonderful to see those old kits, it take me back, and I'm sure a lot of guy's remember as well!
I can just imagine some old-timer used to wooden car kits when the plastic ones came out: "kids these days! You got it easy! I don't trust this newfangled plastic stuff. It'll never last."
At 7.03 I was blown away! almost every model car kit I lusted after as a kid! What a score thanks for posting. Brings back fun memories
OMG! I love the way you’re thinking of making a mini museum to model kits and allowing others to enjoy your wind fall❤️❤️❤️
Unreal! Takes me right back to my childhood! What an unbelievable stash of modeling gold! Look forward to seeing much more of this! Congrats Andy! What a purchase!
Same here John!
This video brought a tear to my eyes! So many memories - I could just sit and look through these for days!
Andy that's a mega stash, the museum idea is perfect, I'm not a car modeler but wow. Fantastic
Great collection ! , , ,I remember that Monogram '32 hot rod kit @25:01, that was one of the very first models I built back in 1968 at age 7, it was a $1 something at a Rexall drug store that was just 3 blocks away from our house
I had a collection that spanned the late 70's until 2006ish? I was working at walmart in the early 2000's, so bought a lot of clearance kits then. I recognized a lot of my collection in this video, which was fun, as I did sell my collection awhile back.
The idea of making a museum sounds like a great idea!
Wrong.
WOW!!! @12:00 on the complete right side the 2 Revell '37 Ford coupe street rod. I was fortunate enough in my youth to have built one of those, and it was one of my finer works as well. Cool to see it was part of this collection.
Back in the day your right.....just anybody couldn't build a model. It was tough. We've come a long way!😂
Oh WOW ... 🤩😍🤩😲
Yes, keeping some and making a small museum area in the shop would be really cool!!!
Build them all !!! The coolest colors and the deepest glosses. Build them all !!!
Thanks for sharing this. I am not a big fan of plastic car modelling but I truly appreciate people being ardent zealots of a hobby. And this is what you are guys. Hope this beomes an awesome starting point for your museum - this is definitely a great initiative to continue working on. Best wishes from the eastern Europe and all over across the Atlantic!
Amazing! So much to take in. Good stuff,Andy and Matt.
Model car heaven 😍if I would own such a collection I wouldn’t store them in boxes but displayed them all. Besides the love of building kits, I also love to watch the box art of my complete model car collection, that’s so satisfying.
Awesome collection! I find these vintage models fascinating, especially for the artwork on the box.
i am not into modelling but I really enjoyed listening to the enjoyment you guys were having popping these boxes. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! What a great acquisition! Can’t wait to check your inventory on the website!
3:13 all the custom wheels !!!! drooling
Amazing collection....do hope some of it can be preserved long term (your museum area idea is great). As an old drag racer, and former model kit builder/modifyer, really loved the Sox & Martin, Blue Max Funny Car, etc. Please...more videos!! 👍👍👍
Oh. A new video from my favorite modeller/model shop owner! I wish we have someone like Andy back in the P.I. when I was a kid.
Great video guys. Love the enthusiasm, warm & fuzzy.
Glad you snagged those Andy, I know that some will go to a good home and the special ones can go to your museum - pick a good one to do your build on camera !
A huge massive collection. Very nice. Thank you for sharing.
You look quite pleased, as well you should ! It's great that someone such as yourself ended up with this fine heap of classic models. Money aside, they are where they should be and will no doubt, find proper homes. Well done sir.
I'm a child of the 60's...I think about all the stuff I should have bought and saved...It makes me wince...
Yeah but I for one didn't have the free cash back then. Now I can afford stuff I just don't have enough years to complete kits to my higher standards!
Really hope these don’t get opened or anything. There is channels that do that.
OH... Oh no
You'll be cataloguing this lot until hell freezes over. An incredible find.Regards from England.
Like em' Till hell freezes over!
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS ANDY !!!
What a PHENOMENAL BLESSING 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 and YESSS The MUSEUM MUST HAPPEN !!! God Bless.
I am not a car guy, but that was great. I especially loved the old wooden kits (at least they gave you a pre-shaped body rather than just a block of wood and a set of plans, as in the earliest wooden kits), and the Lincoln Futura - one of my favourite cars ever. Thanks for the video.
Wow..what a find...I had quite a few of these in my collection of completed cars....thank you for the trip down memory lane
Man, the memories! I used to have a lot of those models that you showed.
Man oh Man! What a haul. I'm not a car guy but, I'm still amazed! A museum is a great idea.
Awesome stuff guy's I am glad for the doubles!!!
wow...i had a lot of those kits back in the 70s...congrats on this buy!
Keep up the good work Andy , your a beast can't wait to check out the collection ?
Although I do not much like car models, Tried but never got one finished, I love old model kits and share your enthusiasm for such a treasure trove!
WOW!!’ What a collection and love the idea of a museum, really cool. Although I shutter to think what that huge of a collection with so many rare, vintage and unopened kits set you back, Andy, but I am sure you will make it back tenfold at some point.
Great purchase, some amazing kits right there! Congrats!
I'm not really interested in most of these kinds of models, but I sure am glad there are people like you who find collections like this and make them available to others so they can be build, as it was intended!
Incredible collection of kits! Especially JO-Han kits. I used to buy those at a local hobby store in the Bay Area when I was growing up in the late 80's
Now That, right there , is a legacy of American Automotive History. Thankyou for sharing this, you guys .
Good childhood memories brought up watching this video. I counted 6 models in your collection that I had back in the ‘80’s.
Good Luck on the new shop. Looks Huge!!!.......AND am happy to watch a unboxing. You 2 are like kids at Christmas....Lol.👍.
Reminds me , when I was in my mid teens , I was given , about 10 or so , very well made model cars from my neighbors son . These cars were heavy , hard rubber tires , metal axels and the paint job done on them were excellent . Wish I still had them
Amazing stuff Andy! A museum sounds really cool!
🎶 Memories...😁
Good stuff, Gents! I see a bunch of old kits that I destroyed as a kid! I was a little hard on things back then.
I blame it on bad parenting mostly. When I was five, my dad took me to my first demolition derby. Every day after that, there was some kind of demolition derby at my house, so yeah, don't take little kids to see demolition derbies.
Anyway, let's see some more of that stuff!
That is one stellar collection there!!! See a ton of stuff I’d like to add to mine and some I already have! Great stuff!!
Hi Andy, what a great video! I have the same predicament! In the coming weeks, I will be organizing a 2000+ plastic, resin, dealership kits, and die-cast collection in Calgary, Alberta, for an upcoming estate sale. I can feel the excitement you guys were feeling with each box opening.
WOW.....SPECTACULAR..... IN LATE 50'S AND EARLY 60'S I HAD MY COLLECTIOON OF AMT 1:24 CAR MODELS. I SAW IN YOUR VIDEO SOME OF THE ORIGINAL BOXES. ALSO REVELL KITS. WHAT A MEMORIES!!
Andy you are making me feel less guilty about my 130+ stash( in a one bed apartment!!) Way to go buddy, good for you :-)
don't feel guilty surrounding yourself with things you enjoy. you could spend your money on worse things.
Wow! For sure when I come down next winter your shop will be one of my first stops especially if you still have some of these kits left. Covid better be over and the border open to us Canadian snow birds.
Andy
Wow, what an amazing collection of car kits. All you need now, is to find a massive job lot of old military kits. That would be awesome.
Awesome stuff, Cavalier, "Z"-Collection, nice designs and some of the coolest cars on earth. This white corvette (digitaly typed, nearly end of vid) triggers me the most. Full like to this video
Wow the memories in this video. It's like finding a COPO in a barn.
You have been blessed. After I saw the thumbnail
I subscribed to your channel. When you opened that
First box my jaw dropped.
An absolute goldmine of cars! I'm drooling with Luka!
I need a 67 Galaxie!
wow what a find. i remember alot of those kits from when i first got hooked on building.
Holy Moly Andy! Woooo-eeeee, fantastic!
Let's just build them all and unleash the magic ✨
Lovely vid, you are a very lucky guy, and we are lucky that a guy like you found this stash.
Loving the look of your shop too, wish we had something like that over here.
OMG 12:28 a Dukes of Hazzard Charger. I love these Car.
How much is a dukes of Hazzard general Lee worth
That looks like about how many boxes of kits I had when we moved a couple years ago. It took two trucks to get them all here to the new house...also climate controlled mine have been. Pretty cool. I will never get through all the ones I have...ever!
Just make sure they don't meet their end when you do.stop hoarding!
This is cool guys! Thanks for sharing.
"Model Museum" - What a great idea!!!!
I could live there.
Since you have so many boxes that you haven't opened, I wont talk about the kits that we haven't seen. But man o man this takes me back to the little local hobby shop that I would ride my bike to on Saturday mornings with my allowance, trying to decide what kit to buy this week. Jo-Hans were always exciting because you never knew what color the kit would be molded in! Some of the aftermarket stuff was so cool. I remember white metal carbs and disk brakes, so many cool things. This may have set you back a pretty penny, but even just looking at these is worth it!!
I’m not a model car guy…. but WOW!! I love the idea of a museum. Something I’d even travel to see in person.
I had maybe 10 kits from the video, it was all I was able to afford at the time. Thanks for the memories...
Wow! So many memories! I still have a bunch of kits in my stash that I see in the video. I have some Jo-Han kits built and unbuilt, some of the stock car kits and a few others. Mines have been in storage for a few years as I look for a place. I found some photos of my Jo-Han 62 Chrysler 300 that I'll have to post.
I feel better now. I'm not a model hoarder like my wife tells me.
I kno rite ???...friggin over the top
One day, in 50 years, your collection may be shown to interested parties, with much admiration. I'm sure.
Loose the wife, you will have more Storage room for kits..!
PLEASE, Just Joking, but be sure to count her Shoe collection..!!
All said with Humour in mind.! Both my DoubleBeds hide the Model Collection plus an Old Wardrobe Full of them, in Garage.
I think I have a Problem..!! My Misses thinks so..!!
Cheers All kim in Oz. 😎
@@samuraifool912 @kim in oz, I too have many unbuilt models , in a wardrobe in the shed . AMT , but also JO HANN , Revell , mainly NASCAR , Muscle cars . Cheers from Bendigo .
😂 i mean.... I ain’t that much better than him
I don't even build cars and I'm blown away from this haul.
Wow a lot of these I personally built back in the day. Brings back great memories. Let the auction begin on the doubles that don’t go to the museum.
A Museum is a fantastic idea Andy. Obviously the owner was a collector or had a shop, less a builder. To think they could have ended up in land fill or chucked in a 2nd hand shop of some sort. Who ever collected these now gets them recorded, televised, protected and as you say, preserved for many 1000s to enjoy on your channel or in person. OK he didnt have a plan for them,or his family wasnt sure what to do but im pleased to see its ended up with an enthusiast and store owner like yourself. We know you will respect and appreciate this ' life story' and share the journey with all of us. Its in a good place and together.
All I can say is WOW what a score the museum sounds a great idea Andy I mean you do looks like you do have a lot of multiple of the same kits I hope you pat your buddy down before he left to make sure he wasn't taken off with anything too valuable👍👍
late 70s early 80;s I worked for Canadian Hobbycraft ..have not seen a lot of those kits in over 40 years very cool to see someone saved all of those ,,you guys are very lucky
That was great, love to see more.
What an amazing Find! ...and to think that I thought I was a hoarder of old kits before seeing this.
A great video. I have alot of old models, but that. Is great.👍👍👍😈
Lovely collection
That’s so cool
Congrats on the find !!!
Great video Andy !!!
Find an Armor stash next with resin figs and updates etch and barrels
Lol
Right on Andy great find !!
I never really got into the cars but I have been into modeling since the 60's Tanks, planes, subs, and trucks, These are a blast from the past though!
Man, what a collection to find. You never know what people have stored away. My brother passed away and I got some of his kits and one in particular is a 59 ford retractable that I can't wait to build.not sure how old it is but by the look of the box it could be from the sixties.
Love this collection and what a good idea for the museum, so sad about the guy that used to own it but it’s found it’s way to you
Wonderful wonderful stuff wow the memories you guys are bringing back to me.I was a huge modelbuilder as a young man I'm 60 yearsold now and anira seventies that's all I would do is build models Ravel was my favorite
I'm not into plastic models and not into car models, but I drooled over this...!
Oh that's awesome, I haven't seen those in a long time.
I collected model cars since I was a child. I am now 66. About 20 years agoI sold my collection of about 1000 kits and dealer promos. I cried when they left the house. I’m sure I didn’t get enough money out of them, but the finances got out of hand. I would be in heaven to see your collection. I have had most of the kit shown.
Im so glad these kits got saved. They found a good home.....Do the museum.
So funny to watch this as I buy collections all the time for resale I have or have had a lot of those very same models. Cool video.
GREAT SCORE!! Museum deal is good idea, hopefully it won't be a super headache to inventory & get back into circulation.
The super old wooden kit and the Revell kits with the antique box art were pretty cool.
Wow, a model of the d'Eligance! That in my opinion is one of the most beautiful cars ever built. The inspiration for the Karmann Ghia.
Really cool and interesting stuff thanks for video
VERY COOL LOOKING AT THESE OLD KITE WHAT A COLD MINE 🤘
I remember back in the late 70's a place called LIL'S HOBBY LOBBY that had EVERY model & EVERY part & piece needed for ANYTHING in the hobby industry...such great memories of old places like that
Just wonderful! What a haul!
