Cool video! I used to build in the 60's and early 70's. I recently came back to the hobby in the last few years. Your videos are a great source of information and inspiration. I done a couple of dozen builds so far and use those clear plastic boxes for display. I have installed some shelves but will soon run out of room. It's good to see how you display your models and options you have tried. I like the custom shelf solution and will check them out. Cheers!
I found Cake Containers at an 1€-Shop that fit four cars. All my cars are perfectly preserved and I can neatly stack the Containers into my Side Boards. They are hidden but for what I have in Mind, I'd need a serious amount of Real Estate!
Ive got billy book cases with glass shelves and doors for my 1:43/1:18, your right though its very expensive, but I've had them for nearly 7+ years, i painted the back board cream to set the cars off, i use a soft paint brush to dust mine
ive also same issue when build there up on shelf get dusty i am considering more detolf display cabinets or the model cases on shelf stacked like bricks but yeah love your custom display cases very nice there a dream them style wall display cabinets i must do something similar get more neatly arranged very nice 👍awsome video
I'm genuinely curious (maybe I could challenge my perspective): How did you come to the conclusion that 1/24 model kits were worth collecting though they have close to no resale value and are not remotely close to what a 1/18 scale diecast metal model feels like? Is it that there is more models to chose from? Is it that 1/18 scale diecast are sometimes hard to undo for customization? Is it that personnal satisfaction is much greater with collecting model kits built ''from scratch''? Or else? I mean, you have some serious skills, but how do you view keeping all these plastic models now? (I began at 9 or 10, with aircraft plastic models too :) )
For me its simple. 1/24 is the standard scale for model kits in my country. I wanted to build models. Not just collect finished models. Plus, 1:18 diecast models need stripping etc before the modifications start. Thats a lot of work(that can damage parts, since they are not realy meant to be taken apart) before i can start doing the things i like doing. With kits i can pretty much start the build. And not have to tear it down. Also 1:18 is bigger, heavier and takes up even more space.
@@TheScalemodelingChannel I sometimes sell 'as is' dust and all, you'll be surprised how many people buy these to strip and rebuild, I know you lose money, but at least you've had the enjoyment of building them...
Dust......a modelers nightmare lol.
I havent defeated it yet.
Nice collection
Cheers😊

It is a crime that IKEA stopped making the Bertby. It's the best model display cabinet of all time.
Agreed. It was perfect
Need to flood IKEA with letters from collectors, that them need rerelease Bertby display cabinet!!!!📩📜📫
Correct I have one should’ve bought more. It is the perfect display for scale models cars anyways, maybe tanks to
Nice video there, always nice to see new ideas about display cabinets. Thanks for the share.
I built my own on my channel a few months back....already need to upsize. I'm building more than I have room for.

That is an awesome display case. Great video. Ron
You could do a barn find video for those "abandoned" models. Just a tease, dust will always be an issue.

Can you get tools specific to cleaning model cars? I often wondered if that's a thing!!

@@TheScalemodelingChannel Thanks for you feedback, I get it more now. It is more about the build, than it is about the showcasing of such models :)
@@davidbeaulieu1305 pretty much yes. Showcasing is about 20% of the fun for me. As you could see from the neglect🫣😋
@@TheScalemodelingChannel :)
do you sell the supra from the fast and the furious ?
No
I also have this problem 😢😅
Cool
Is there a Hyundai Motor Company on display?
Nope
Why not selling the built scale models?
They don’t bring enough money to make it “worth it”
It's a labour's of love lol.
Very few can do it as a profession.

Glass box is better , safe from dusk
That’s a legit set up and if you get that from IKEA hopefully it falls on you so you can get $46 million in a lawsuit
dust is the most dangerous for models
You can buy the rusty car to restore it
I would love to clean those beauties for free, unfortunately i live a little far from your place. Some 10000miles far

I take it that you're not married.
I am married
Why you say that? It's a hobby like any other.
I guess your hobby is more manly or cooler?
@@TheScalemodelingChannel You have a more understanding wife than I do! I can only keep a few of the models I build, the rest I have to give away.
@@rickgregory9616sounds like maybe you need to give her away 😂
Barbaric 😂😂😂😂😂 poor models!
