There is something fucking scary about this scene watching a dark sith lord staring at the vastness of the empty universe and talking as a psalm in sith language
And on top of that there are "souls" being tormented inside him, screaming through the force. This guy is 1000 times more scary than palpatine.
This guy barely has any screen time in the game, yet he's probably going to be in my most memorable video game villains for at least the next decade.
For ever. How can you be much more memorable than a guy who is literally hunger walking around eating planets more or less. Had he not been stopped his mere presence would have exterminated all life it came in contact with.
I will never forget how creeped out I was at seeing how his mere presence decays the people around him, to the point where their skin turns grey, and gaunt, yet they can't away from him
I played this game when it released. And I was a young teenager when that happened. This character will never leave my brain.
Well the way I see it, the way he interacts with others, he seems more akin to a Looming threat rather than a confrontational person.

For that to work someone would have had to go to Korriban and dig up his mask or robes, which been buried at that point for over 4000 years.
They wouldn't stand a chance anyway.

@@sisigs4820They could’ve done a plot line where the first order were the remnants of the Empire and searched for artifacts to bring back Palpatine via Sith Alchemy/ritual, but after the ritual is completed, it’s Nihilus who is revived and wreaks havoc on the galaxy.

This is not what was intended by Obisidian. They intended for it to be the "natural language" of the Force. That's why all Force-sensitives understand him subconsciously. Otherwise it doesnt make a lot of sense why people can understand him.

I always assumed that he was speaking (or making himself understood) telepathically, and that his voice was just white noise created by the remnant of his humanity that remembered speaking but not how. It made it creepier for me.

When I look at Nihilus it just reminds me of No-Face from Spirited Away. The look, the similar communication and at one point the devouring.
Obsidian Entertainment took a lot of inspiration from No-Face when conceptualizing Darth Nihilus.

@@PapitoQinn I am not sure but if nihilus had a movie he could have a few horror-related scenes.but it would mostly be action like rogue one.
I deciphered Nihilus’ language and determined that he initially said:
“Stuffed crust pie with extra cheese, mushrooms, peppers, and black olives. Top it off with Mountain Dew.”
After a brief misunderstanding:
“Did you not just hear my order?”
Then finally:
“Call it in! Call it in! Dominos closes in ten minutes!”
If i'm not wrong, nihilus was so corrupted and had such a deep connection to the force that everytime he spoke it was the force sounding through him, he literally spoke the language of the dark side of the force. No other Sith ever achieved it, not in cannon, not in legends.
No other sith was the force. Darth Nihilus wasnt really a sith. He was more the dark side of the force cosplaying as a living being. Nihilus was the force and he was a slave to his hunger.

It was the very first time I was literally scared in a Star Wars story.

I can't help but notice Nihilus' voice sounds like a pitch-shifted version of the Sith Holocrons collected by Atris. Would support the theory that it's supposed to be the Ancient Sith language that he's speaking.
Some people theorise that he is speaking the language of the Force. It sure doesn´t sound like anything a mortal being could pronounce.

It’s cool how he knew that he would eventually die by absorbing to much energy and so before his body literally imploded in on its self from absorbing to much energy he bound his spirit to the mask to keep himself in the physical realm instead of becoming part of the cosmic force like his body did just an amazingly written character for not having much detail. Darth Nihilus The Dark Lord of Hunger. My third favorite Sith Lord number two Revan if you can even truly call him a Sith Lord because he does not follow the teachings of th Sith or the Jedi rather then both and neither. Hands down number one my boy Ajunta Pall nothing more needs to be said other then he is the first also the one to defeat the Sith race in Korriban then mate with them afterwards that’s my boy right there haha.
And despite knowing that he just couldn't stop. He locked his spirit into his mask so that he could continue to consume. Darth Nihilus is a very well written character. The ultimate embodiment of lust for the Force. He's a crack addict. They all know that it'll eventually kill them. But just like them, even with that knowledge, he remains a slave to it. Metallica said it best with their song Master Of Puppets.
But doesn't that mean that he achieved what no other sith lord ever had, which is to cheat death? If it hadn't been for the exile, he would have continued to keep consuming everything, eventually the entire galaxy. That's some lovecraftian shit right there.
@@Da1337Man the sith code also talks about breaking one's chains and how "the force shall set me free" Nihilus was a slave to his lust for hunger and the force.

Nihilus Got his amazing force power from the same device that created Zion(the sith who was held together by the force) and the character you play in Kotor 2 who can wound anyone to the force and drain them and why Nihilus was able to be defeated. The Mass Shadow Generator on Malachor V was a freak accident that pretty much intertwined with these 3 Siths DNA when they were all fighting the war on Malachor V and gave them all unique and amazing feats of power that were near unstoppable. Always enjoyed that lore they were basically mutated Sith lords.
I tear up when i think about these games. The writing in them inspired me so much.

I don't understand him being killed at the hands of a lightsaber. He has no body, so there isn't anything that can cut through him.
He was slowly becoming more and more part of his mask and clothing, but his body wasn't completely gone yet. Remember when Visas goes and takes his mask off and you ask her what she saw? "Just a man."

Darth Nihilus and the Jedi Exile Meetra Surik were both "wounds in the force" created during the activation of the Mass Shadow Generator in the final battle of the Mandalorian Wars at the planet Malachor V.
Because Surik was like him she was immune to Nihilus' force drain ability. That immunity left him vulnerable to defeat at her hands (and she also had his former apprentice Visas Marr with her who was able to disrupt the force bond between her and Nihilus, thus weakening him further).
Yeah nihilus is pretty lame, you have probably the most intimidating sith in Star Wars, a cut in the Force, a demon, and gets killed so easy 'cuz is just a man? Hahahah
