Ah Darth Galactus, one of my favorite characters from the three Kotor games, and a real powerful beast. Another power I THINK he had allowed him to use the Force to hurl the Ravager through hyperspace, as I don't believe that component of the ship was still functional, and like Galactus, there were times when Darth Nihilus was on a clock, and taking too long could mean death. He was a lot of un in Kotor 2. I always thought it was weird how hus ship's "crew" were still alive, barely, but it was like their life-force, and even consciousness, had been devoured, and there was nothing left of them, as the people they gad once been. Truly the Lord of Hunger, indeed.
Marvel turned Galan into a jobber or punching bag, being defeated by forces that should never be possible. Hes a universal force-balance or equity. Never sat right with me. Darth Honeybadger doesn't have that problem.
There is not much to see. Kreia told us everything we needed to know about him. He's just a broken bottomless force sink born from the force wound created on Malachor. From the day he rose up from the ashes of Malachor to the day of his demise on Telos, he didn't do much besides get a fraction of Kreia's teachings and aimlessly wander around the galaxy to feed. There just is no material to work with for an adaptation. If your desire is just to witness a scene or two of him displaying his force powers, that's a pretty piss poor excuse for a show.
So did Nihilus control his flag ship completely, to where he was the only thing keeping it together and moving, or did he lift it long enough for it to be repaired and usable again? Because if it’s the former then that would be insanely impressive!
He controlled it enough to get it into orbit. It was operational by the time of the games. No one besides maybe Prime un-burnt Anakin, Legends Grandmaster Luke or The Ones could pull off holding every piece of a star cruiser together while going through hyper space. Nihilus was a goat, but honestly Papls, Vader, and even comics Kylo Ren beat him negative, mid and mid/high difficulty

You can't even look at Nihilus as a man, he was more like a walking embodiment of the Dark Side. The Jedi Exile was likely the only being in the entirety of Galactic history that could have taken him down, because of their unique relationship with the Force. Had they not crossed paths Nihilus would have drained all life from the Galaxy.

i am a year late as of responding to this but yea i have this same figurine that comes with his lightsaber, detachable hood and cloth like robe. it was limited edition so hasbro no longer makes it but i plan on keeping mine for as long as possible it could sell for alot to a conisseur lol that an also have a limited edition General Grievous in his Kaleesh warlord form which also has detachable pieces to wear you can see what he looks like fully with no mask an what his hair woulda looked like
Vader and Palpatine both beat him no difficulty. Both of them can resist force drain and they are much better in dueling than Nihilus. And if you use legends Palpatine, than it's overkill, he could create force sorms that ripped space apart, and he could drain planets too

Palpatine can disintegrate people with his force lightning too, and he was shutting down a whole fleet in Rise of Skywalker. And force lightning is not comparable to force storm, it literally teared space apart.

You get writers to come up with crazy explanations so you get your fantasy to live on, even if it's detrimental to the overall diversity of the SW narrative landscape. When Nihilus was designed and written, "resistance to force drain" wasn't a thing. The only thing that could beat and actually defeated Nihilus was him trying to feed on a force wound. Not because Nihilus was strong, he never was strong as a Sith lord anyways, but just because he happened to have an ability that was otherwise impossible to counter. Back in the days, it was pretty simple: you're a force wound, you kill Nihilus easily. If you are not and are a force sensitive lifeform, you die, period. Simple as. And it made Nihilus' character relevant, because he was meant to be a sort of "Dark Side Doom", like a sort of natural disaster that you can't stop with cunning or power of any sorts, only with the right tools. All of this fluff that was added to have the "mainstream characters remain powerful" "compared" to older ones, so kiddies can still happily play "wHo StroNgeREst In Star Wers!!!?!!!1!" undermines the writting and is just an overall annoyance that doesn't add anything to the SW universe.

He doesn't just empower himself, he literally feeds off of it. His ability was not only that powerful but also massive in scale. He didn't even have to step on a planet to drain the force from it entirely. He would do it from the bridge of his ship, which was already destroyed by the way. Nihilus simply held it together using the force and he did that passively without having much issue, we're talking a ship full of holes that lead to outer space btw. The ship was being held together by him and lead by his undead crew which he also controlled using the force. The guy was literally death incarnate, surrounded by death, the death of the force and everything around him. He is not the kind of threat someone like Vader was meant to face.
All of that was great because it made The Exile the ONLY person in the Galaxy that could stop Nihilus. Master-level skills, but similarly wounded in the Force to keep him from just obliterating her/him.
From all that I remember from Kreia, she described him as a Wound in the Force, or maybe malignant cancer? Either way, with something summarizing him like that and how he just keeps "eating" i figured him just this literal *_V O I D_* in barely contained human form, which would make sense why he'd be more powerful than Sidious. I mean, being a literal black hole in human form capable of draining entire planets just by being nearby and _still_ be hungry to keep going's enough to say you're better than some dude who can cast super thunder in movies and cast super magic storms in Legends?
technically, nihilus himself was not all that powerful. but power did not matter when your enemy could murder you passively by being in the same space as you. against the exile, who was immune to his particular condition; nihilus fell like a sandcastle at high tide.

nihilus pulled the ravager and an entire fleet that were mere wrecks held together by his sheer power. What starkiller did was like nothing special compared with nihilus power.
Nihilus and Vitiate both seem to be raw force potential waaaaay off the charts. Vitiate was emperor of an army of Sith including other dark lords who were badass af. Palpatine is tactically the best, but his rule was kinda weak though. 20 years Vitiate was around for 1500 years, he's the energizer bunny of Sith he just kept going, and going, and going...
I don't know if there's enough material for a whole video each, but what about some on the characters from the Old Republic Era like Darth Marr, Darth Thanaton, and/or Darth Jadus from the Empire for example
It seems that Darth Nihilus was the so called Force God that Darth Veciate Was hoping to become with all of these abilities. In his own twisted way he became something of the Sith Ari.
I've always thought of darth nihilus as the most powerful and terrify sith ever. More powerful in terms of sheer raw force power than sideous and more brutal and menacing than darth vader.
Nihilus was in a completely different league compared to Sidious and Vader. When you are a wound in the force like Nihilus was it means that your connection with the force is at 100% ( basically you are one with the force itself ). Sidious and Vader were extremely powerful sith lords .... but nowhere near Nihilus raw power.
He was slowly rotting into the dark side of the force. The insatiable hunger for force energy was terrifying. Definitely the scariest Sith of all time. Like a Sith vampire.
It's not a question of "who was stronger". Nihilus was written as an average Sith, but who happened to develop a particularly deadly and unavoidable ability. Nihilus is NOT powerful, masterful, knowledgeable or cunning. He is in fact pretty weak overall. What makes him dangerous is his tremendous connection to the force, being a literal bottomless sink collecting force energy. That's what allows him to hold a battleship together, and that's why he craves the force energy of all who live. It's a simple characteristic, and the only relevant way to counter that terrifying ability was to make him try to feed on a wound himself, which resulted in him transfering his force energy to the force wound he tried to feed upon. What remained after this move was a shadow easily defeated by a pretty average jedi in terms of power, Meetra Surik. Well, that was the relevant way in terms of proper writting, the one that was envisioned when he was designed... Let's ignore the idiotic addendums exonerating X,Y and Z characters for some reasons, just because fanboys and fangirls were outraged at the thought that their beloved favorite character could be killed by a simple plot device such as Nihilus' feeding. Yes, Nihilus' force drain was written to be universally unavoidable except when interacting with force wounds. Like it or not, it was written this way and it was what made the character actually relevant to KotOR II's plot and overarching philosophy and deconstruction of the force concept. And yes, it means that when he was designed, he could theoretically kill anyone he sensed, who was in range, and who wasn't a force wound.
The biggest problem is for sidious the strongest sith People say he is universal in power Serious people Yet if he was even planetary powerful with force storms and all Or had the power to control the minds of millions of not billions Then it begs the question why didn’t he control teh galatic senate or need to build the Death Star Basically I hate to break it if people say siduous is the most powerful sith meaning more powerful than nihilus he would have done better The simplistic explanation to why nihilus can destroy worlds is because there is a drawback to force drain Taht would explain why palptine never did it And emperor visiate needs rituals and force users to syphon his focus Basically when it comes down to power you can’t simply say one is powerful in Star Wars As the line gets blurry

If anyone wants to chime in, I’ve got a question. Why would a Sith Lord like Niihilus bother with saber combat? His particular power set made using a lightsaber against him seem pointless. He can basically suck the soul out of you just by merely being near you. He can essentially kill you with a thought. That’s not something a saber can defend you against. A saber won’t help you against Nihilus’ deadly voice either. Doesn’t seem like Nihilus would have enough experience with saber combat to be any good at it.
Darth Sidious is the most powerful Sith ever, that's just a fact. He literally took on the two most powerful Jedi ever. Nihilus is certainly one of a few likely in the same area of power though along with Emperor Vitiate, Exar Kun, Darth Revan, and possibly Dartj Plaguies (based off the fact Sidious was to afraid to face Plaguies in open combat back around TPM). Darth Sidious ability with force lightning alone is insane; he literally destroyed almost a fleet of ships. He was the best Sith duelist ever as well by the time of ROTS, though perhaps Vader became a better duelist then him by TROTJ.
The thing about GL’a statement about siduous being the most powerful sith in history has to do with the fact he had power over the galaxy as he ruled it Not that he was force power wise more powerful than every sith before him in the force but he is the only one in a sense of power gained control of the entire galaxy That’s what GL means As he said the Jedi of the prequel era were a threat to sidious and siduous couldn’t destroy a planet or control minds of an entire planet because if he could he wouldn’t need order 66 decades of planing or the death star If he was force powerful wise just as strong as the past sith who could It’s even clear the ancient sith are more powerful force wise But their power didn’t get them control of the entire galaxy But sidious has the potential to be on their level if he learns their secrets which in dark empire he does But before dark empire he wasn’t on their level

Abeloth was defeated by Luke ... and Luke was not a wound in the force. Nihilus was a wound in the force. When you are a wound in the force you are literally one with the force itself ( you can´t get more powerful than that since you are at 100% connection to the force itself ) .... Nihilus would have had Abeloth for breakfast and still had room for Vitiate
unless palpatine had some way to neutralize nihilus's draining, he's losing. putting a powerful force user like palpatine against nihilus is literally like trying to use a gas can to put out a fire. you're just feeding him more fuel.
In terms of lightsaber combat, Lord Sidious absolutely CRUSHES Lord Nihilus 100% of the time. That being said however, if (and I stress the word IF) Lord Nihilus is able to use his Force Drain ability (I think that's what it's called) then Lord Sidious would be dead before he even had a chance to kiss his own Sith ass goodbye. Which in my opinion makes Lord Nihilus one of only two Sith Lords who could defeat and kill Lord Sidious, the other OBVIOUSLY being Lord Vitiate. And a fight between Lord Sidious and Lord Vitiate would essentially break down like this: a normal battle ensues, Lord Vitiate toys with Lord Sidious, then finishes the match...I mean fight...with the Sith Spine Buster, followed by the Sith Bottom, followed by the Sith Elbow. Then of course killing Lord Sidious. Finally ending with Lord Vitiate looking out of the Chancellor's Office at the Corusant skyline, raising one eyebrow, and saying: "if you smell-l-l-l-l-l what Emperor Vitiate is cooking". Now regarding Lord Nihilus against either Lord Sidious OR Lord Vitiate, the ONLY way Lord Nihilus would know he's been in a fight would be if Lord Vitiate used his own Force Powers against Lord Nihilus. Note how I DIDN'T include Lord Sidious, and that's simply because as powerful as Lord Sidious was in the Force, both Lord Vitiate and Lord Nihilus would OBLITERATE Lord Sidious. If Lord Vitiate somehow managed to prevent Lord Nihilus from using his Force Drain ability, then it would be an even 50-50 match-up. However, IF Lord Nihilus was able to use his Force Drain ability then, just EXACTLY like Lord Sidious, Lord Vitiate wouldn't even have enough time to bend over and kiss his own Sith ass goodbye. Just my own personal opinion anyway.
Bane killed the man and his son to fight off Githanys poison. So he did use the same ability as Nihlus. Their fear helped him stave off effects of poison.
If someone ever makes a live action standalone movie or TV series of this terrifying sith lord,it must be good enough to do justice for him in legends otherwise,it's gonna be met with a great amount of criticism and potentially dislike
Yeah, Palpatine was powerful but definitely it at the level other the top tier Sith Lords. But what made Palpatine dangerous was that he was much more political and strategic. He played the king game of subterfuge and brought down both the Republic and the Jedi.

Also did you know that? with the mask or the robs just of itself if someone else puts it on its just going to gain more power. To also let you know. If you take the mask or the robes off it can basically Force grab the entire physical body life drain of the person completely Palpatine can only handle so much out of a time because he's still physical though has the wise mind. A my opinion Darth nihilus may have started out as a dark lord of the Sith but towards the end was more akin to a dark force of nature. All but Unstoppable all-consuming, and I don't believe he is truly dead as long as his mask and robes remain there's a chance for him to possess another living body and come back. I wish they would do a Darth Nihilus storyline in Canon

If Sidious was so powerful, y didn’t he use the force to destroy planets. Yet he built planet destroying machines. Sidious used weapons and Vitiate used rituals to drain/destroy life on a planetary scale. Darth Nihilus’s mere presence and hunger was enough to leech life where even multiple Jedi along with the 2 billion force sensitive Miralukas were present and couldn’t stop him.
It's not so much that he fed on the people and life of the planet but rather the force energy of the planet itself.so a planet like darhomir or dagobah

Palpatine can disintegrate people with his force lightning too, and he was shutting down a whole fleet in Rise of Skywalker. And force lightning is not comparable to force storm, it literally teared space apart.
@@mr.macsek8457 I'm tired of fandoms coming up with every imaginable way to make it so the Palp/Vader duo always remains on top. We get it, you like those characters. Good on you. You get writers to come up with crazy explanations so you get your fantasy to live on, even if it's detrimental to the overall diversity of the SW narrative landscape.
When Nihilus was designed and written, "resistance to force drain" wasn't a thing. The only thing that could beat and actually defeated Nihilus was him trying to feed on a force wound. Not because Nihilus was strong, he never was strong as a Sith lord anyways, but just because he happened to have an ability that was otherwise impossible to counter.
Back in the days, it was pretty simple: you're a force wound, you kill Nihilus easily. If you are not and are a force sensitive lifeform, you die, period. Simple as. And it made Nihilus' character relevant, because he was meant to be a sort of "Dark Side Doom", like a sort of natural disaster that you can't stop with cunning or power of any sorts, only with the right tools.
All of this fluff that was added to have the "mainstream characters remain powerful" "compared" to older ones, so kiddies can still happily play "wHo StroNgeREst In Star Wers!!!?!!!1!" undermines the writting and is just an overall annoyance that doesn't add anything to the SW universe.
@@mr.macsek8457They can't resist the power Nihilus. Nihilus isn't simply using force drain, his ability is far beyond regular force drain. He doesn't just empower himself, he literally feeds off of it.
His ability was not only that powerful but also massive in scale. He didn't even have to step on a planet to drain the force from it entirely. He would do it from the bridge of his ship, which was already destroyed by the way. Nihilus simply held it together using the force and he did that passively without having much issue, we're talking a ship full of holes that lead to outer space btw.
The ship was being held together by him and lead by his undead crew which he also controlled using the force. The guy was literally death incarnate, surrounded by death, the death of the force and everything around him. He is not the kind of threat someone like Vader was meant to face.
All of that was great because it made The Exile the ONLY person in the Galaxy that could stop Nihilus. Master-level skills, but similarly wounded in the Force to keep him from just obliterating her/him.
Being around Nihlius is like having a constant uneasy feeling each second

From all that I remember from Kreia, she described him as a Wound in the Force, or maybe malignant cancer? Either way, with something summarizing him like that and how he just keeps "eating" i figured him just this literal *_V O I D_* in barely contained human form, which would make sense why he'd be more powerful than Sidious.
I mean, being a literal black hole in human form capable of draining entire planets just by being nearby and _still_ be hungry to keep going's enough to say you're better than some dude who can cast super thunder in movies and cast super magic storms in Legends?
technically, nihilus himself was not all that powerful. but power did not matter when your enemy could murder you passively by being in the same space as you. against the exile, who was immune to his particular condition; nihilus fell like a sandcastle at high tide.

nihilus pulled the ravager and an entire fleet that were mere wrecks held together by his sheer power. What starkiller did was like nothing special compared with nihilus power.
Nihilus and Vitiate both seem to be raw force potential waaaaay off the charts. Vitiate was emperor of an army of Sith including other dark lords who were badass af. Palpatine is tactically the best, but his rule was kinda weak though.
20 years Vitiate was around for 1500 years, he's the energizer bunny of Sith he just kept going, and going, and going...

It seems that Darth Nihilus was the so called Force God that Darth Veciate Was hoping to become with all of these abilities. In his own twisted way he became something of the Sith Ari.

I've always thought of darth nihilus as the most powerful and terrify sith ever. More powerful in terms of sheer raw force power than sideous and more brutal and menacing than darth vader.
Nihilus was in a completely different league compared to Sidious and Vader. When you are a wound in the force like Nihilus was it means that your connection with the force is at 100% ( basically you are one with the force itself ). Sidious and Vader were extremely powerful sith lords .... but nowhere near Nihilus raw power.

It's not a question of "who was stronger".
Nihilus was written as an average Sith, but who happened to develop a particularly deadly and unavoidable ability.
Nihilus is NOT powerful, masterful, knowledgeable or cunning. He is in fact pretty weak overall.
What makes him dangerous is his tremendous connection to the force, being a literal bottomless sink collecting force energy. That's what allows him to hold a battleship together, and that's why he craves the force energy of all who live.
It's a simple characteristic, and the only relevant way to counter that terrifying ability was to make him try to feed on a wound himself, which resulted in him transfering his force energy to the force wound he tried to feed upon. What remained after this move was a shadow easily defeated by a pretty average jedi in terms of power, Meetra Surik.
Well, that was the relevant way in terms of proper writting, the one that was envisioned when he was designed... Let's ignore the idiotic addendums exonerating X,Y and Z characters for some reasons, just because fanboys and fangirls were outraged at the thought that their beloved favorite character could be killed by a simple plot device such as Nihilus' feeding.
Yes, Nihilus' force drain was written to be universally unavoidable except when interacting with force wounds. Like it or not, it was written this way and it was what made the character actually relevant to KotOR II's plot and overarching philosophy and deconstruction of the force concept. And yes, it means that when he was designed, he could theoretically kill anyone he sensed, who was in range, and who wasn't a force wound.

If anyone wants to chime in, I’ve got a question. Why would a Sith Lord like Niihilus bother with saber combat? His particular power set made using a lightsaber against him seem pointless. He can basically suck the soul out of you just by merely being near you. He can essentially kill you with a thought. That’s not something a saber can defend you against. A saber won’t help you against Nihilus’ deadly voice either. Doesn’t seem like Nihilus would have enough experience with saber combat to be any good at it.

Darth Sidious is the most powerful Sith ever, that's just a fact. He literally took on the two most powerful Jedi ever. Nihilus is certainly one of a few likely in the same area of power though along with Emperor Vitiate, Exar Kun, Darth Revan, and possibly Dartj Plaguies (based off the fact Sidious was to afraid to face Plaguies in open combat back around TPM). Darth Sidious ability with force lightning alone is insane; he literally destroyed almost a fleet of ships. He was the best Sith duelist ever as well by the time of ROTS, though perhaps Vader became a better duelist then him by TROTJ.
The thing about GL’a statement about siduous being the most powerful sith in history has to do with the fact he had power over the galaxy as he ruled it
Not that he was force power wise more powerful than every sith before him in the force but he is the only one in a sense of power gained control of the entire galaxy

Abeloth was defeated by Luke ... and Luke was not a wound in the force. Nihilus was a wound in the force. When you are a wound in the force you are literally one with the force itself ( you can´t get more powerful than that since you are at 100% connection to the force itself ) .... Nihilus would have had Abeloth for breakfast and still had room for Vitiate

unless palpatine had some way to neutralize nihilus's draining, he's losing. putting a powerful force user like palpatine against nihilus is literally like trying to use a gas can to put out a fire. you're just feeding him more fuel.

In terms of lightsaber combat, Lord Sidious absolutely CRUSHES Lord Nihilus 100% of the time.
That being said however, if (and I stress the word IF) Lord Nihilus is able to use his Force Drain ability (I think that's what it's called) then Lord Sidious would be dead before he even had a chance to kiss his own Sith ass goodbye.
Which in my opinion makes Lord Nihilus one of only two Sith Lords who could defeat and kill Lord Sidious, the other OBVIOUSLY being Lord Vitiate. And a fight between Lord Sidious and Lord Vitiate would essentially break down like this: a normal battle ensues, Lord Vitiate toys with Lord Sidious, then finishes the match...I mean fight...with the Sith Spine Buster, followed by the Sith Bottom, followed by the Sith Elbow. Then of course killing Lord Sidious. Finally ending with Lord Vitiate looking out of the Chancellor's Office at the Corusant skyline, raising one eyebrow, and saying: "if you smell-l-l-l-l-l what Emperor Vitiate is cooking".
Now regarding Lord Nihilus against either Lord Sidious OR Lord Vitiate, the ONLY way Lord Nihilus would know he's been in a fight would be if Lord Vitiate used his own Force Powers against Lord Nihilus.
Note how I DIDN'T include Lord Sidious, and that's simply because as powerful as Lord Sidious was in the Force, both Lord Vitiate and Lord Nihilus would OBLITERATE Lord Sidious.
If Lord Vitiate somehow managed to prevent Lord Nihilus from using his Force Drain ability, then it would be an even 50-50 match-up.
However, IF Lord Nihilus was able to use his Force Drain ability then, just EXACTLY like Lord Sidious, Lord Vitiate wouldn't even have enough time to bend over and kiss his own Sith ass goodbye.
Just my own personal opinion anyway.

Bane killed the man and his son to fight off Githanys poison. So he did use the same ability as Nihlus. Their fear helped him stave off effects of poison.

Yeah, Palpatine was powerful but definitely it at the level other the top tier Sith Lords. But what made Palpatine dangerous was that he was much more political and strategic. He played the king game of subterfuge and brought down both the Republic and the Jedi.

Darth Nihilus is my favorite.
A my opinion Darth nihilus may have started out as a dark lord of the Sith but towards the end was more akin to a dark force of nature. All but Unstoppable all-consuming, and I don't believe he is truly dead as long as his mask and robes remain there's a chance for him to possess another living body and come back. I wish they would do a Darth Nihilus storyline in Canon

@@branaden Vader can block and counter all of those. Once he gets close to Nihilus (wich he will, very quickly, he is actually faster than Nihilus), he is done since he isn't the best in dueling. Or he can just crush him with the force. Nihilus is overrated, he only had 14.000 midichlorians.

@@1997lordofdoom in the comics he is faster than the human eye and he leaves several afterimages. Also Vader can block force lightning with his lightsaber and force barrier. And the reason why he lost to Obi-Wan is because he was conflicted and it wasn't even prime Vader.

If Sidious was so powerful, y didn’t he use the force to destroy planets. Yet he built planet destroying machines. Sidious used weapons and Vitiate used rituals to drain/destroy life on a planetary scale. Darth Nihilus’s mere presence and hunger was enough to leech life where even multiple Jedi along with the 2 billion force sensitive Miralukas were present and couldn’t stop him.
