    If you are looking to increase engine output while adding style to your 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 or 2018 Focus ST, then look no further than Vortech's stealth black front mount intercooler upgrade. A more efficient intercooler means lower air charge temperatures which equates to more power. Vortech's upgraded intercooler results in NO loss of pressure.
    This intercooler has a black finish with the Vortech Superchargers logo painted in white on the face of the intercooler. Vortech designed their upgraded intercooler to be a direct fit with no modifications required making this an easy bolt-on upgrade. The intercooler will fit whether or not your Focus ST is equipped Ford's OEM active grille shutters. All new hardware is included for installation.

      This is a late reply but maybe it will help someone, it’s expensive because it’s the only intercooler that lets you keep the shutters. Which is required to stay in some autocross classes

    Reply please? What if I dont have the Active Grill Shutter? Because my Focus SE was in an accident, and I didn’t install one! Is it important to have a Active Grill Shutter or no?

    • @cjponyparts
      @cjponyparts  6 років тому +2

      If you have an SE you don't need a front mount intercooler, they are designed for turbo cars like the ST model.

      The shutter helps the car warm up faster

  • @joshharmon4867
    @joshharmon4867 5 років тому

    So what happens if I remove the shutters from my stock system, will it be good or bad?

    • @jordanm6836
      @jordanm6836 3 роки тому

      I'm a year late to this but there's little good it does. From a cold start, it helps warm up the engine by keeping the shutters closed. Once you are warmed up and driving it opens and closes to help with aerodynamics. Buying this intercooler allows you to keep the shutters if you want to keep them. If you get a larger intercooler you'll have to remove the shutters. I don't think it makes too much of a difference especially if you are trying to get more power. More power needs a cooler system to maximize efficiency and in that case the shutters don't matter. If you're just casually cruising you have better aerodynamics with the shutters but it's not going to give you significant increase in mpg if that's what you're looking for.

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 10 років тому

      I lay them on a tray top to bottom as I take them off so the last bolt I remove is on the bottom. Yes you should retune when adding a FMIC

    • @FishStyx
      @FishStyx 2 роки тому +1

      You can drive with a new fmic without having to tune but it's recommend you do at some point. Driving with a new fmic won't hurt the car but a tune will help the car actually utilize the new fmic.

      Don’t be a goober , your charge air temps reach 145 degrees on a pull with stock intercooler , hotter air= less power through out the pull. With an intercooler you’ll only go about 10 degrees above ambient on a pull vs 60 it’s a huge difference in conistant power !

       @LilMeatEvan I have yet to install my big Airtec IC ( I will be doing before and after runs, and I will get back with the results). I know that the stock IC is insiffuicient, but my.criticism is against this particular product. I agree with you that a *decent IC is a must for the ecoboost ST, but pls check out their dyno run with this IC installed.. it is rather a joke..
