      Yes I know, it's more 'Animal Based' like Paul Saladino advocates. It's just that he still refers to it as carnivore and is know as the carnivore MD and so it is a little confusing but you're right it wasn't pure carnivore, but it was 95% or more carnivore, so please excuse my use of the terminology :)

      @@tomgarbett77 Thanks for replying Tom. My halfpenny worth says that, if you are not doing the full Carnivore diet, then you will not be going into ketosis. Therefore you will be missing the main point of the exercise. If you achieve a state of ketosis (fat burning) , you then burn ketones for energy and you will gain masses of extra energy plus also clear thinking. The brain prefers fat to glucose. It takes roughly two weeks to arrive at ketosis. Most likely you have never arrived at that state, as you have been eating fruit and honey. Try again, only this time do a proper Carnivore diet. Best Wishes.

      Yes I was going for the Paul Saladino approach, and in that I was just meaning I wasn’t having cravings for loads of carbs because I was still having a small amount 😅 but yes I was eating a lot of fat, but clearly not enough! Potentially because I was not having butter due to my autoimmune condition. I think with butter it would be easy to increase fats.

      Is not because of the carbs why you feel bad. It’s because you have changed your microbiota and now you don’t have the bacteria diversity necessary to handle anything else than meat. Carnivores tend to forget that we have a microbiota and diversity is good. 4 Carnivore here so talking from experience. In my case I only got healthier when taking care of the diversity of my Gut.

      @@lurraskea I didn't feel bad at all, as I say in the video I felt great, with high and stable energy levels and reduced appetite etc. But yes I completely get your point and that was my main reservation when starting carnivore was the gut microbiome. But from what I have researched since, it's not necessarily that a carnivore microbiome is worse than a high fibre diet, it is just that it is completely different and so the two are difficult to compare. Hence my earlier point of apples and oranges. In fact the main benefit is that with carnivore you are cutting out all if not most carbs which will deplete the types of microbes that you don't want living in your gut that induce inflammation etc. So I think it's an area that again needs more research, but I have been trusting people like Dr Anthony Chaffee who discusses this at length.

    My nutritionist advised high fat and magnesium glycinate 600-900mg for bowel function, if its too much it will cause loose stool, so you just dial it back. We don't realise we are mostly deficient in magnesium and meat isnt that high in magnesium. Although our magnesium requirements may reduce without carbs, but a preexisting deficiency requires high dose supplementation. Although carnivore may be our ancestral diet, we are not living ancestrally. We have lots of physical stress on our bodies from toxins in our water, skincare, medications and health conditions as well as psychological stress which our ancestors didn't have to deal with and they all deplete magnesium rapidly. It's also the case that we drank from natural water sources that were toxin free and mineral rich and now we drink water that is low mineral and toxin rich. Even looking at chlorine in water, this binds the magnesium and makes it unavailable to absorb.

    • @tomgarbett77
      @tomgarbett77  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes you make a great point here regarding the stresses and toxicities of the modern world that our ancestors didn't have to deal with! I do think though that at least without the plant defense chemicals, absorption of those minerals will be higher. You should have to try the carnivore diet not for a month but a year. A month is way too short of time to see whether the carnivore diet would alleviate any ms neurological symptoms. Its pointless to even bother doing it for a month. As for the hemroids , use water to wipe and than toilet paper and those hemroids will go away fast, DONT JUST USE TOILET PAPER by itself to wipe.
    Meanwhile drink lots of hot water and hot teas with your carnivore meals. Drink some green matcha teas and continue gyming. If someone follows these principles than I would have the ability to properly judge whether the carnivore diet works for ms. Im strongly considering doing the carnivore diet myself to properly assess whether it will help my ms symptoms. Only thing holding me back is the fact I love my green smoothies so much haha.

    • @tomgarbett77

I was mainly trying it for a month to see if I experienced any benefits in my general energy levels, strength etc as part of world carnivore month, to see if it would be something I could maintain in the long term. I think in terms of that it was very successful as I do feel I would be able to maintain it if my life situation was more in line with the diet.

I prefer to use distancing words in the attempt to discredit it being allowed in my life. "That MS" sounds so much better.

So week 2 sees me working through moderate oxalate foods and then next week I'll omit the foods from this week to go to lower oxalated foods until I'm hopefully able to remove and return to full carnivore. So i guess i am clean keto for now. Inflammation is one of the issues i am hoping to change, so management of Oxalates are definitely key for my journey. Listening and yeah. That far into carnivore after initial fat adaptive transition.... Too lean not enough fat can cause constipation and too much fat can cause loose stools. I've been carnivore for 7+ months. I usually go once a day but its not uncommon that one day passes and now bowel movement and sometimes 2 days and nothing but third day i go as normal and nothing strange about it. I heard you ate chicken. Nothing against that but i avoid it because too lean. I eat it still but its maybe every 3 weeks. Personally my go to meal once a day pound and half 80/20 ground beef/2 slices of cheddar/salt, 7-8 eggs (pasture raised) and 2 cups beef bone broth. Supplementing 20,000 IU D3, and 400 mg magnesium glycinate due to flu season. Nothing negative to report

      @tomgarbett77  5 місяців тому

      Yeah I do think I needed to increase my fat intake. I have been eating a lot fo 80/20 ground beef with extra tallow and when I've eaten chicken I've been eating all the fatty areas and skin etc. So I'm struggling to see where I can get the extra fat from, but maybe I just need to add more beef fat/ tallow to meals. I do think I struggle because I don't eat dairy, otherwise I could easily top up the fat with butter! But Sounds like you've got a great routine there with your diet!

    If you were eating honey, perhaps it wasn't raw honey. Most honey isn't raw. I got honey advertised to be "raw" from a local butcher, and it turned out to be adulterated. Clearly bad for health as it gave me splitting headaches and strange jaw ache symptoms. My sister has exactly the same symptoms after eating it. Adulterating honey is a huge industry. Statistically far more honey is consumed than is produced by bees.

    Your daily intake should be in the 30% fat content per day. Eating fatty ruminant animals is necessary but many people will supplement the meat with brown butter bites as a tasty fat bomb snack. They will also consume beef and pork bacon to increase their fat intake. Cooking in tallow, lard and butter are all tasty and healthy on the carnivore diet.

    That sucks, 90 days is the best to do. Fibre is a myth. You just were not eating fat. Did you eat butter every day? Did you cook your steak in Tallow? Did you also have electrolytes, the help with this as well. I'd also not recommend doing it with someone else, just do it yourself. The fats are possibly the most important thing. If you enjoy minced beef ask your butcher to make it 40% fat 60% beef, trying eating Scotch Fillet (rib eye) if you can afford it, or what i eat is Rump Cap as it has a lot of fat on it. Ribs are also good, quite fatty. 100% is was your lack of fat. If you get really stuck and wanted instantly relieved from it just eat something with sugar in it and you'll be pooping like water almost instantly :p

      The research behind it for autoimmune is weak, but the huge and growing number of case studies are strong. There are no long term peer reviewed studies on any other diet and I do mean studies, as in RCTs not epidemiology - i.e highly confounded diet surveys, animal or test tube studies.
      I cured mast cell activation, histamine intolerance, IBS, BMS, chemical sensitivity, subclinical hypothyroid, adrenal dysregulation, chronic fatigue, joint and muscle pain after decades of consuming a supposedly very healthy wholefood diet that was supposedly good for my gut health. Healing began within 2 weeks of starting carnivore and 2 years on I've completely resolved all of those issues. We know so little about gut health to be largely meaningless, the studies on this are in their infancy. And I've recently seen several self reports of MS symptoms in remission and and brain lesions completely disappear on carnivore.

      @@marytorti5147 yes the fibre aspect through me off when I was first looking into the carnivore diet. However studies show that carnivores have a completely different micro biome that still promotes health and you receive the short chain fatty acids direct from the food rather than by the break down of plant fibres. It appears to me that comparing the two is like comparing apples with pears. It seems fibre is beneficial for those on an omnivorous diet that includes carbs, but through the lense of a carnivore diet there is simply no need for that fibre. @@tomgarbett77 Tom I am trying to disuade you from your choice which is your right. I am not a herbivore or vegan but comparing the two diets is not apples and pears. Plans based diet trumps animal and fat based diet. When you go to the forest there are diversity and life (ecosystem) I hate snakes and many creepy creatures in the forest but believe it or not their importance in the system can not be overlooked because they add color and flavor that exist in the ecosystem. Fiber/plant don’t only improve your micro biome but acts as a sweeper. It helps regulate the moistness of your stool and gives you a nice feel of emptiness when you go no 2. It’s been rightly said all sickness begins in the gut and believe it or not having poop stuck inside of you is like living in a house that are unswept/ no cleaning; it’s dirty, stinky and unpleasant and it’s a breathing place for germ and bacteria. Shifting your micro biome could be a short term gain for a long term suffering. Blocking your arteries and are susceptible to heart disease. Animal diet is no match to plant/fiber. Your micro biome is more diverse than All the billions of galaxies . Hey your body is your most prized possession and should run like a well oiled machine if you give it garbage it will not run the way it should. Check out the side effects of a carnivore diet. Peace out ✌️
