Should The Batman 2 push the boundaries with an R rating? In this video, we dive into the pros and cons of making Matt Reeves' The Batman sequel darker and more intense. Could an R rating enhance the gritty realism of Gotham, or would it alienate a broader audience? We’ll explore how a mature rating could impact the portrayal of villains like The Joker or Hugo Strange, and discuss whether it’s necessary for continuing Robert Pattinson’s darker, brooding take on the Caped Crusader. Join us as we break down the potential storylines, fan reactions, and the precedent set by other R-rated superhero films like Joker and Logan.

Batman universe is dark and should be R rated for sure. The fact we now live in a smoke free world is exactly why cinema should embrace alternate realities. Sadly that might not make as much cash and so the powers might tame it down to get a family friendly rating. Sad IMO.
Money triumphs all the time for corporations, unfortunately
I just want a Batman movie made for adults, not kids.
I feel like thats how they should do to differentiate the dcu and reevesverse. DCU more campy type of batman while matt reverse verse should be more dark
You think the last one was made for kids? Bro everyone yonger tan lete teens in my family found it "too boring" to watch
@@Silas_Kowsome dude had his thumb cut off in the movie
I think that’s what these are
Reeves already gave us that.
Batman and his world is definitely Rated R. WB won't allow it because of the toy sales and the massive children's fan base.
I agree but did the Batman sell toys? I know I’ve seen them but were kids clambering for them?
I dont think it needs an r rating if the first one didnt.
Do you think bruce wayne will come across vic. Im not saying bruce takes him in as robin but he just saves his life and vic tells him everything about penguin? Then vic will play a key role in exposing penguin.
You know what i would like to see, a spin off from gordon point of view as he investigates penguin alongside harvey dent.
He meets with sophia who he finds it suspicious she was just standing around waiting to be arrested. He investigated oz but cant find a good lead on him then vic shows up and makes a plea deal with gordon to expose penquin. Vic calls the guy from final episode the one that warned him about the bounty. Leads him into a trap and uses him to find out penguin new hideout for the drugs. Make the show about gordon dealing with the corruption on the inside while going after a criminal who he knows is guilty but cant prove
Thanks for the super!! Love it
I think Dent would be awesome to have in this
Vic is dead lmao
I felt like Part I had to censor itself multiple times with its camera angles. I feel like the R rating could've made Riddler a whole lot more terrifying. The R rating in The Penguin made Gotham a whole lot scarier, it feels like the whole city wants to slaughter you. Also, most Batman comics would be rated r, it's time long-fan adults get what they want.
I wonder if the new DC studios will allow them to make it R (if Revees even wants it R of course)
I rewatched the Batman 2 days ago to see how it felt after the penguin and you don’t really notice the difference, they work well together, I agree it doesn’t need to be R just for the sake of it, I think that hard pg 13 they did is the way to go
Yeah totally agreed. The two iterations still have the same tone and they work.
LOL.
I agree.
However, Oz drops the F bomb a ton in his show. He didn’t say it in the movie, and probably won’t in the sequel.
That’s a rather glaring inconsistency.
@@DialloMoore503 He says sh*t in the movie...and mybe just the ending he would have sworn in the movie? And the car chase.... lol ok LOL
Yes
Short and sweet LOL
The one part in The Batman that I felt was hindered by a PG-13 rating was at the last scene where Batman is fighting all the riddler henchmen, and he gets all juiced up and beats the lights out of a dude, so much so that Catwoman is shocked by the violence, then it cuts to the dude and he is barely bruised. My guess is they needed to show this dude's face was intact to keep a PG-13 rating. The problem is, it made Batman seem weak.
Yeah I think moments like that, when you’re dealing with “this is a realistic approach” but the rating hinders that, I think that’s when maybe you look at maybe having a higher rating.
Oh wow!! 🎉 thank you!!! Emailing you now!!
Look out for my reply!
YES.
Nah ain't that weird not hear penguin cursing, I warched The Batman yesterday still as good as it was
Agreed.
IMO The Batman Part 2 should definitely be Rated R given how dark the first film was.
An interesting question actually i feel positive it’s going to be pg-13 but i think they should have smoking and swearing but just limited they can have him swearing kinda of a guardians of the galaxy vol 3 , Logan is i really grounded version of Wolverine
I think Penguin with a cigar would be fine, but as long as it’s grounded and not “forced” either for the R or forced for the pg13. I have faith in whatever they do (but I think it’ll be pg13)
@ agreed
Well we did get Logan and that was rated R (Logan is one of greatest comic book films ever and films ever too)
Yup!
You were right about Julian Rush being… Scarecrow 👀
I keep getting comments about Episode 4 having an easter egg....gonna check it out after work
If the Joker makes an appearance in the Batman 2, you would need a Hard R for sure as it is the most terrifying depiction of the Joker till date. Also villains like Hush, professor Pyg, Dollmaker would need a Hard R if they were introduced.
Yo…Dollmaker!!! That would be awesome
@@DigitalCharcuterie hey thanks, It would be awesome they go the body horror route in The Batman 2 as compared to the psychological horror route in The Batman 1 :)
Yeah I love that idea of going more psychological horror...and it seems they could be going that route.
Nah, it don't need to be.
Agreed!
Have you seen the Scarecrow equipment on Rush's desk in ep4?@@DigitalCharcuterie
Yeah!!!! A few people showed me. I am exporting my video on it right now lol I had a long day of work and was just able to record now. but WOW that's so awesome!!
I have Max! I renewed my Disney+ with Hulu and Max, so now I can watch it.
Yayyayayyay
It doesn't have to be rated r, but man I wish it will be. the 2nd batman I'd assume will make over a billion dollars. It might not hit that with an R rating even with the success of Deadpool. That's only the 2nd billion dollar r rated film it's safer to go pg-13 to guarantee a 3rd film
I think they towed the like wonderfully on the first film and if they can do it again, then I don’t think R is even a question…but, of course, I don’t know the story they’re doing or if it needs the R. I think whatever Reeves and co believe they need, at this point WB should give them.
funny thing is first movie would've been an R rated film if they showed the dead bodies
Probably would have they It knew how far they could take it
I mean, the last game was Rated M. So probably The Batman 3 will be rated R
Possibly
Im ngll joker and logan were hits with an r rating.
.
It all comes down to the type of story they want to tell
.
If they do hush and he takes off his bandages and its just a fleshy skeleton that would be pretty cool enough for an r rating
.
BUT NO RANDOM SEX SCENES
.
OR CHARACTER THAT SWEAR EVERY OTHER SENTENCE JUS CUZ THEY CAN😂😂😂😂
Yeah Hush could warrant an R, but doing it just cause you can would probably cheapen the movie
Naaah, doesn't have to be. As long as tone is the same, its fine. There's no purpose really that an R-rating would serve here.
I've always thought this idea that "iT NeEdS tO bE rATeD R! 🤪" is pretty silly. Its like the types that argue that their incessant need to curse is just "colorful language" lol when in fact, they just sound stupid 🤷
It needs to be R rated.
Good writing can work around everything for sure. You can toe the line
@@DigitalCharcuterie exactly. I have faith in this team. Rating means nothing in this case.
@@MrLexanderluther1986 Agreed.
the real question is should there be a part two because emo tween angst batman sucked a fat one
K. The answer is yes.
@@DigitalCharcuterie My first thought would have been no but I guess I was wrong
It’s subjective so if you don’t like it, that’s valid.
No . Its fine as is . Also it takes a lot for a hard r so by going r should there be nudity ? Do we have to hear constant f bombs?
Agreed.
@@DigitalCharcuterie just because something is r dosent mean it'll be good . Just wanted to toss that out there
Oh I totally agree!
@@DigitalCharcuterie I actually wouldn't mind a selina Kyle series to spinoff . Between you and me I'm exhausted with joker . But the ultimate spinoff I want is Mr freeze
Yeah I don’t blame you on the joker. He’s a great character but we’ve had our full. Catwoman makes the most sense cause of the movie and she exists but Mr freeze could he so good!
