You guys need to come back soon! They redid a section of the trail and added lots of rock and jump features. The trail is much more advanced and fun now
This was early spring. It's been mostly upper 80s and 90s with extremely high humidity here lately. I'd take 106F with 15% humidity over 85F with 85% humidity any day.
Ride it all the time red days are fun going into the black area Sawtooth over brige by fence into the technical rooty area cause you come in with pretty good speed. I always rode red days but yellow for sure seems to have way more flow and can use the berms too
Merrell was closed the past 2 Months as they made Major Updates to the Trail, Mainly Wynalda Section. The Trail opened back up this past Saturday and I had a chance to check it out! I would highly recommend you guys trying it out if your on this side of the State Again. Definitely bring your Full Suspension Bikes as there is now some Awesome Jump Lines. The Trail is directional by Day and I recommend Riding it Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday Direction.
Such a neat little trail. A cross between the old Stony Creek and Addison. Just the right length for a local home trail. I really enjoyed it earlier this year.
Loved the video, it was cool running into you guys in the parking lot. Gotta say, I've never actually seen anyone else pull off the skinny you went back to, gratts to Cory for making it.
It was nice meeting you too dude. We ended being there almost all day. We had to stop and try every feature. Lol. Cory wasn't gonna leave until she cleared that skinny too.
Love seeing how both of your riding skills have progressed & how you both support & encourage each other on difficult features & long uphill/hike-a-bike & flat sections. Stay safe & superb kids !!
"stuff starts going down in a good way" newly weds ;) as I right this Cory starts screaming. I hope my daughter does read this comment. else I will have explaining to do.
Nice seeing a trail I ride so often! Merrell is great in both directions, but red has more jumps and feels a bit more downhill. The key to making both directions as fun as possible is speed. Once you learn the trail it becomes a XC race course. Great video!
"I'm pretty pooped and got a three hour drive", I am so using that next time I chicken out on a feature... lol 🤣 just kidding, I am so upset with myself and determined to drive two hours this weekend to do features I chickened out on last Saturday.
damn merrell, cory said your trail is grandma material lol. thats good for me becase i ride like a grandma, actually like a fat ugly 40 year old but whatever. great vid.
Yes. It's freaking great. And although we didn't ride the double blacks, we _did_ hit the Redbull drop. 😁 Here's an IG post of Cory hitting it: *instagram.com/p/CPjd0RlhFGt/?* Banana! 🍌
That 1st skinny with the rocks looked sketchy, i don't mind falling into dirt or leaves but rocks is a different story. Speaking of hardtails i had a 2016 Focus Raven max SL that was 20.4 pounds WITH 150 gram pedals, sometimes riding a 20 pound bike has it's advantages especially on climbing thats not that rough. I have been looking at a new 2020 Cannondale Lefty with AXS that lists for 11 grand and i can buy for $6600.00, under 20 pounds with tubes, great for FLYING around town too, best to have 2 bikes, nothing does everything 100%
Haha. That's why I didn't try it. I'm nowhere near as good as Cory on skinnies. 😅 But yeah, I'm glad to have the hardtail. My trail/enduro bike is 36ish lbs. Great at the bike park, not so much on the local stuff. 😅
@@dukeofmtb 36 pounds? I figured may 30-32? My old 2019 Instinct BC was 29.7 WITH stamp 11 pedals, front fender and bottle cage, about 31.5 out of the box but added carbon bars, wheels and saved 100 grams with a lighter seat
@@zxtenn Heavy duty frame. The TR Signature's claimed weight for the stock build is 33lbs, but after DH casing tires, a longer dropper, water bottle, spares, tools, pump, etc...it's definitely closer to 35 to 36lbs. It gives it great stability when descending at Windrock and stuff, but on most south Michigan XC trails, it's overkill. That's why I have the hardtail.
I was gonna suggest a video at Highland Recreation Area, but seeing how you guys hate climbing, nevermind haha....cool video though, been debating going here since its an hour and a half drive, i'm gonna go this Friday after seeing this!
We're gonna do Highland eventually. A & D is our favorite route there. The short but relatively chunky descents there are super fun. Definitely gonna bring our hardtails. 😁
@@dukeofmtb Nice, definitely looking forward to that video! I ride A and D all the time, going for the entire loop before summer ends....only been riding for a year so that will be my hardest ride yet :)

@Drummer9 Congrats on the new bike. Can't make any promises. Best bet is to keep an eye out our socials. I just go where the wind blows me, and Cory is usually that wind. Lol
Saturdays for sure
It's nice to see someone covering my local trails. Merrell is a lot of fun!
The roots and bridges on sawtooth are tiring. Lol
12:00 Kapag Pinay di talaga nasuko 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Cory sound effects for the win!
She is so courageous and has many skills. Great and fun video.
I ride this trail a lot. It was awesome to your take on it.
Haha...we're always looking to get into trouble...lol 😅
@@dukeofmtb have you guys done whalfield park? Surprised you haven't done merrell! This and whalfield are my fav in the area
@@RedvansChan Not yet. Maybe next time we're in the western side of the stae.

Always appreciated. 😊

Thanks for the tip. 👍 We might go out there one weekend when the weather is good and it isn't bike park season. We always love new features. 😊
That skinny is super sketchy but surprisingly Cory just blast thru it (not just cautiously slow), surprise me a lot. haha
Cory has no fear with skinnies. She's got a natural knack for them. Meanwhile, I lose my balance just walking. 🤣
they've redone the trail and have a bunch of new stuff + revamped sawtooth to be a bit more difficult. It's worth another visit
Sweet! We'll be sure to check it out whenever we head out that way again. 😁👍
ITS A HARDTAIL LIFE FOR me too :)

My lil bro went to grand ledge he was telling me about this place. Looks not bad at all in the oppo especially 🤙
I think the opposite way is the way to go.
Good job bro 👍
Thanks!
I came down from Marquette and rode that two weeks ago on my hard tail. So much fun!
Definitely a trail for hardtails. Down country bike at most.
Damn Cory good job at the end👍
This trail is only 20 minutes from my house, I haven’t yet ridden it yet but I’ve got plans to soon
Have fun! 😁👍
I ride there weekly and try out a couple more features each time, IMO this trail is a blast!

Red days are better imo. But the builders did a great job making it fun both ways
Would have been sweet to ride down the black section instead of up. 😁
