Truth - We all have to eat. European food culture is far richer than the US. And the food perspective is healthier. As a US and European citizen, I have heard so many stories of people gaining weight on US food and getting thin on European food
really? I find the American food culture to be more interesting. It's a place where you can combine Korean and Mexican food and make revolutionary art. The beloved Tex-mex cuisine are just two examples. We have older mergings such as Italian American or Chinese American and it's borne of the immigrant experience as they adapted to America. We have different cultures and different infrastructures. Neither one is necessarily inferior. It's all a matter of what our preferences are. I like traveling the world via the cuisines of the world. It shows how different cultures look at food and how they use these ingredients. It's quite fascinating. I mean, the French may have technique but have you seen the precision of a Chinese kitchen or a Japanese kitchen?
@@jenniferhunter4074Yeah, I absolutely agree. America has a lot of fusion foods and it has given rise to some long standing unique food cultures of its own such as Cajun food. I actually gained weight in Europe as opposed to losing it. While olive oil is full of healthy fat in my own home cooking I use it, and most fats, sparingly. Being near the Mediterranean I ate a ton of olive oil. Since that was so drastically different than my usual diet I gained weight despite the increase in walking. I was also rather surprised at how homogeneous food culture could be in Europe whereas in America people seek out foreign foods and fusion foods. Again, like you said these are different cultures and I completely agree that one isn’t inherently better than another. I do think there are things Americans could benefit from in the European diet but many of those changes also require more lifestyle changes as well since what Americans eat is often tied to class and the poor work-life balance we all have to contend with relative to European lifestyle.
Being a baker in France is very restrictive because of the guilds and laws. Which means fantastic bakers have left there for other parts of the world where they can be creative.
So she's got a bunch of knowledgeable French cooks working for her, and banking knowledge behind her. Good for her, but she's one of hundreds doing this without the benefit of cash. She's not exactly a unicorn.
