    I was real tired tonight, just getting ready to turn in for the night 🌙, then I seen that Jeff Instinctive indication sent me another video, got all energetic and giddy, now I can't get too sleep from all that excitement Jeff brought us. Great work Jeff 👏

    Jeff, I totally enjoy watching your videos. They are always informative and relative to the fundamentals of good shooting. I've been shooting traditional bows for over 50 years and learn something every time I watch you. I use the same type of hook as you but in my early years I used a shallow hook, halfway between the finger joint and tip of the finger. Another Jeff, Jeff Kavanaugh uses the same type of hook as you on the string, and he is also a fantastic archer. I'm not sure if Jeff is still with us. Thank you.

    I tell guys if they buy a new glove to put it on and wear it around the house about a week.....i used to shoot thin gloves that i could feel the string but i prefere a broken in thicker glove. Ive noticed the biggest indicator of not enough string hook is a really sore ring finger.....canting the bow hard causes that to.....awsome video....sent it to a few new shooters......i cant explain it....but i shoot really well when i get everything all tucked in really tight....bent into the shot a bit....all tucked in like im on the arrow

    Im left eye dominant, semi ambidextrous but mostly right handed. Im getting ready to start with a bow.
    I wonder if ill be at a handicap. Instinct all the way, this i know and remember from childhood archery in the '70's.

    If you would please, next time you speak to Sanlida, ask when the royal x8 recuve will be available in #50 and #55. I have sent two messages and not gotten a response. I would love to order one and would even pre-order if they would allow.

    Maybe talk about how much of a angle you hold the bow and does it make a difference .say 5 degree 10 degree angle and staying consistent

    Jeff I never miss a video and wanted to say thank you and God bless you for all that you do. I am curious if you realize that you subconsciously lower your bow arm and almost every release is with your bow arm in motion? I'm certainly not saying that you are doing anything wrong. It's part of your shot process and it varies based on the distance that you are shooting. I have always noticed it but never mentioned it because I didn't want to plant a seed and cause you to notice it if you don't. I really do believe it is your body subconsciously lining up your shot based on distance. Your process is always exactly the same. You lift your bow and draw hand to align your arrow with the spot that you are focused on. As you draw, you reach about 6 inches from full draw and you draw hand lowers just enough to to hit anchor. As soon as you feel anchor, you simultaneously begin to expand and lower you bow arm. When you feel the perfect alignment, you release. I have attempted to mirror your process due to your accuracy and I can't because I have to fully focus on the spot. So I just focus on the spot and let the muscle memory that I have built through thousands of shot do the rest. It's just interesting to watch you automatically make the adjustment based on distance without thinking about it.

    • @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
      @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998  2 місяці тому +1

      Lol I’ve watched it also and it’s really weird how the body just lines it up while focusing without thinking but it has a always worked for me, I don’t even change much on long distance shots and that’s what’s crazy 😜 👍🏻

    • @ncsaddlehunter77
      @ncsaddlehunter77 2 місяці тому +1

      Exactly! That is serious muscle memory.

    Very good explanation of this. I use a tab with a 45lb recurve, my hook is very light, i don't like getting too deep into my tab. My anchor is abit lower than yours, i have my thumb just where the jaw line bump is, it gives me a solid anchor. But each to their own on anchors although I've seen some go way back near their ear, in my logic wouldn't that change the poundage your pulling back? I have a 7inch brace hight, recommended for the bow i have, so further you pull back more tension on limbs=more poundage?

    • @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
      @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998  2 місяці тому

      Absolutely, you’re right and just one inch of draw can add up to three pounds of weight easily👍🏻

    Jeff how much pressure do you have on each finger? Equal pressure on all three or light on the index, heavy on the middle and then lighter on the 3rd finger? How do you shoot?

      Add a quiver full of hunting arrows lol that’s precisely why I always shoot with mine on, I literally can’t hold a light bow especially a longbow still at full draw without it drifting around on me seriously! Mass weight is the key brother 😁👍🏻

    • @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
      @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998  2 місяці тому +1

      @@surfcastingmayhem3203 yes sir it really depends on how much point weight you’re wanting to use and how the bow riser is cut, most longbows are cut to center at most and will need a slightly weaker spine than a recurve also the arrow length but I’d say a 500 spine will allow you room to work with heavier point weight and not be too weak especially if you are going to have them cut around 30” or more 👍🏻
