    Hi. Agreed. I love this arrow. It's good looking and flies beautifully. Hard hitting. Loved so much, I bought another 1/2 dozen this year, a week after I got the first 1/2 dozen. 44# PSA 62" widow and I went with the 500's. I think I am gong with an impact collar from Iron Will. 🙂

    Great shooting!
    Would be interested to see a speed test with the same arrow out of the longbow & recurve.

    Thanks for the information. I’ve shot axis since they came out. The aluminum outserts are junk, I broke and bent a pile of them so I went back to HIT. Didn’t realize there were other options.

    Hope your season is going well. So far no luck in Texas. The moon was a killer the first weekend. Darker nights and cooler weather should improve the hunt the next few days.

    I noticed that the Easton Traditional Axis 400 and the Gold Tip Traditional 500 are spines are close. I was shooting the axis traditional in a 400 spine. It Bare Shaft tuned good out of my 56lb @ 28” longbow. I bought some 400 gold tip traditional shafts. Long story short the spine was way to stiff when bare shafting. I had to drop down to 500 gold tip Traditional to get a great flying bare shaft arrow. The FOC on the axis traditional was 250 grains. The gold tip FOC 275-300 both flew straight. I chose the 275 grain FOC. Total arrow weight 560 on the axis and 550 on the gold tip. I am guessing diameter or different manufacturer spines makes the axis 400 and the gold tip 500 bare shaft pretty damn close. I like you have a 27” draw length and shoot a 29-29.5” arrow. With my 56lbs @ 28” I should be shooting around 53-54 lbs. I shoot the Simmons 160 Land Sharks. I haven’t bought Simmons broad heads since Jerry Simmons died. But I am going to try the swamp shark 175. I also shot the interceptor 190 back in the 90s. I am still a great fan of these broad heads.

    Wow those arrows are speedy!!! Glad to see the weight up front too... I shoot my Black eagle outlaw arrows as there cheap and effective on deer!!! My point weight difference on my bow weight and spine of arrow but my point weight varies from 200 to 250 gr up front..

    Great Flight, would love to see a work up for 55lb bow at 28inches with a 200 to 250gr point. Thanks for sharing.

    Jeff have you ever experimented with wood arrows? I have always been told this Alabama Humidity effects wood arrows to much? Wood arrows are better in a dryer climates. Byron Ferguson even back in the aluminum arrow days said it was hard to get consistency with wood arrow shafts. But several traditional archers swear by wooden arrows.

    Totally Noobie Questions, On using 3 blade broadheads, are the blades tuned / turned to match the fletching so everything lines up? Does it improve flight? Or it doesn't matter because the fletching straightens the flight regardless of broadhead angles? Somebody help out my confusion. Awesome Channel by the way 👍👍

    • @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
      @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998  Рік тому

      No sir it doesn’t matter, I usually just screw a three blade on and shoot it with perfect flight but only if the arrow is decently tuned for the bow to begin with, and it’s because of the speed of a trad bow they’re not fast enough to really have that issue like a fast compound which yes sometimes requires the broadhead to be tuned to the fletchings but in most cases with a recurve or longbow No especially if it spins true.

    I saw in another video that the 5mm or .204 inside diameter arrows fly a bit different due to the lower drag. Before watching this I ordered some Easton Axis cut to 30. I've got some 50/100 HIT outserts and some Victory 80 grain stainless outserts. My draw is close to 29" and I'll be turning these for a hybrid (pretty strong reflex/deflex) Firefly Messenger longbow. I'm excited to see how they fly... does the iluminock 22 grains on the tail make that big of a different on dynamic spine?

  • @tomalderman7598
    @tomalderman7598 Рік тому

    Ive been out of archery for several years. Gonna try and stick one with a bow this year. Outserts were only around for skinny carbons best I remember and they made it next to impossible to pull your arrow out of the target back in the day. Are they made better now where they are smooth with the outer diameter of the arrow shaft ?

  • @westonbussell6251
    @westonbussell6251 Рік тому

    Pretty sure they don’t make these anymore. Have to go to the new carbon legacy or barebow version

    Jeff if my bare shafts fly like lasers but I’m getting riser contact with a full setup, would you recommend a very slightly weaker shaft?

    Hi Jeff it’s a perfect video!Now I have two options for my bow setup and need your opinion.I use centaur super curve about 45.5 Ib in my draw.Now i have two set up.First,Easton FMJ 400spine,29.5 inch arrow and 225 gr front total weight is 576 gr.Second,same arrow but 32 inch and 150 gr front total weight is 528 gr.They both fly very well, I know this result looks weird. Maybe my test range is short, I will go outside and try the long range, but before I do, I want to get your opinion, which one is better.One more question, if I use a heavier broadhead at about 300gr, the total weight is about 660gr, will it be too heavy for my bow for hunting.Looking forward to your reply.

    • @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
      @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998  Рік тому

      Honestly with the shaft weight of aFMJ already being on the heavy side it’s definitely going to hit hard with anything over 200 grains up front but it’s really just a matter of how far you want to shoot, 550 grains is definitely plenty and usually doesn’t drop dramatically but then again I built some 450 Carbon Trads with 275 up front weighing around 600 grains and loved them out of a 47# longbow so just have to test them at like 35 yards 👍🏻
