    This video just really made me realize how used to drawing and writing on glass I have gotten without even realizing it. I used to find it very difficult to control the pencil or draw straight lines because of the low friction on the ipad. I never really thought about a screen protector until now. Watching this video made me realize i don’t need anything…It just made me aware that my issue is no longer an issue. Honestly the Matte finish looks like it hurts the image quality some. First time I ever watched a product review that convinced me I don’t need any product… thanks i guess.

    I LOVE your description when you’re saying that it just can’t be that hard. I love Bellemonde and have been using for a few months. My husband had a great deal of trouble when putting the screen protector on my older iPad (10.5) so I fired him from screen protector duty! 🤣 He got a new iPad for me last week (the latest 12.9 pro) so I ordered the Bellemonde in the new size and put it on alone. I love digital painting and drawing with it. It actually feels real and especially when I use the pointed fine tips on my Apple Pencil. I use pen and ink with Watercolor on 300lb paper and same weight when I draw so this really feels so natural to me and I love it!! 🤩

    I recently got the Bellemond PET protective film and magnetic detachable smooth kent paper screen protector for the 12.9” iPad. It’s really great! The PET film doesn’t interfere with the screen clarity. I attach the magnetic protector on top of the PET film when taking notes and have not encountered any issues with loss of sensitivity, etc. with the Apple pencil. The texture of the kent smooth is wonderful. The previous brand I tried before that was the STARY brand on Amazon and I couldn’t stand it. It was similar to nails on a chalkboard for me.

      @@evipeasy The Bellemond PET film is very smooth to the touch. Their detachable smooth kent paper protector has some texture to it like all "paperlike" screen protectors. I don't think it's overly rough, but the texture is noticeable if you have it on while scrolling with your fingers a lot. I only use the detachable protector when writing on the iPad. • @4190james
      @4190james 2 роки тому +1

      @@evipeasy I have not had it long enough to say if it wears down pencil tips a lot faster. I can say that I have had it for a few weeks and my pencil tip still looks good. However, I am not an artist. I only use the pencil to write notes and am not a "hard pressure" writer. Apple pencil tip replacements are inexpensive for an Apple product (4 for $20 at Apple store). I do not have any marks on my screen from writing with the detachable screen protector. Keep in mind that I do have the PET film on the screen underneath the detachable protector which protects the screen from any inadvertent scratches. I will say to make sure you clean your screen before putting on the detachable protector to remove particles in between your screen and the protector.

    I’ve actually tried the Bellemond screen protectors, I actually prefer Tersley ones! About the same price, but a little less grainy. I’m a total Bellemond fan. I first switched from the ghastly (for me) Paperlike to a standard matte screen protector and then discovered the Bellemond. Been using it for a couple of years on my iPad mini and now I have it for my iPad Air 5 - and, game-changer for all those who miss the dynamic of a shiny clean screen for watching content - this one is Magnetic!!!! So you can take it on and off … a-ma-zing! Yes, your tips wear out faster, but you certainly don’t have to buy branded ones. I’m also using a fine, metal point nib now. All in all a magnificent writing experience.

      I had a comment asking how it was magnetic, but it has disappeared, so I'll just answer here: the Magnetic Bellemond I'm using has magnetic strips along both long edges so it just snaps strongly to the screen, no slippage during use (and you just need to lift it from the corner to remove) Been using this for 2 weeks solidly now and still thoroughly recommend.

    I found this review to see if Paperlike finally improved their packaging. I ordered from Paperlike three years ago and it got folded in my mail box. While not their fault, it's such an oversight by them to ship it in non-sturdy packaging. I had to get TWO replacements sent to me because the mail delivery person kept folding it despite the fact it said "DO NOT FOLD, TREAT LIKE DIPLOMA" on the packaging. Their packaging is nothing more than just a cardboard envelope.
    Their customer support had the audacity to tell me to ask my mail person to treat my package carefully, but however where I am from we do not have that level of communication with our postal service. That's simply impossible. They refunded me fully thankfully, and I'm using the creased protector still, but every year I look up unboxxing videos to see if they finally changed their packaging and they have not. But this looks like it's an actual box that will protect it from being folded in the mail.

    • @Floreum
      @Floreum 2 роки тому +6

      As a follow up, I ordered this and applied it perfectly. The box it comes in is definitely much more sturdier so if you have the same problem as me where the postal service will fold your package this is leagues better than Paperlike

    I bought the Bellemond screen protector looking at all the positive reviews and I was very disappointed. The colours went dull and the screen had a light but very unpleasant prismatic effect due to the internal refractions and scattering of the satin finish. Yes, the feeling of paper is there and is indeed easier to draw, but it also makes colouring and digital painting way worse. Maybe it's fine if you only work in black and white, but otherwise, is a biiiiiig no for me.

    • @gwenivercall

      You are so right - I was convinced by another youtuber to go for Bellemond and while the first one was ok (though like you're saying, the colours were not good), the second one in the pack was complete rubbish. There were lines in it which I never got rid of, and it was super hard to apply. I just today applied a Paperlike and oh boy, I wish I had bought that first. It's has many more things to help with application (guiding stickers etc), there's a video you can watch, and now that I have it on, it looks much better than the Bellemond ever did. Take it from me - if you need to write on it (as I do) or draw, get the Paperlike. You won't regret it. Or if you're find with drawing on the ipad as is, leave it that way. I just can't get used to it.

      I’m using PenPad by PenTip right now. The sensation of paper is not as good as other screen protectors but the color transparency is very good and the fact that is magnetic and not fixed on the screen makes it totally worth for me. You can just remove it if you need to color or to watch a movie. A bit on the expensive side thought… but if it last long enough it will be worth its price.

    so i've had my ipad for like 2 weeks, put the bellemond on because everyone and their wife on youtube recommended putting a paper feel protector.... brand new apple pencil straight out of the box.. in two weeks i can see the metal through the tip. I've only been using it for taking notes for like an hour a day - it's INSANE how fast this wears tips down. i'm now having to buy extra tips. i do like that it reduces the glare because I like to write first thing in the morning outside and feels like writing on paper and i knew it would wear down my tip a bit faster... A BIT.... but damn... i thought i'd get more than 2 weeks out of it. seriously considering just ditching the protector and getting a glove because that's utterly ridiculous

    How would you compare this one with the iCarez? I use my iPad mainly for note taking and casually for Netflix. Also, I appreciate the time and effort you put in your videos. Keep doing the great work!!

    • @TonyJeffers
      @TonyJeffers  2 роки тому +17

      I think Bellemond is the best for note taking especially if your looking for something that feels like a pencil on paper. iCarez in my opinion is bit more versatile feeling like a pen and dry erase marker depending on the brushes that you use. Both are about the same when viewing videos in my opinion and unless your viewing all white screens often I experience minimal rain-bowing. Hope that helped and thank your for the comment about the time I put into these videos I really appreciate that!

    Really bad product: It's actually really hard to install because you can't even use the Hinge method since they made the first protective layer larger than the screen protector. The cleaning tissue is really small and average quality, the card is not in plastic as mentioned in the video but it's just a hard cardboard that will start bending after a while when pushing the bubbles. If you do buy it at least don't follow the way it's shown in the video to apply it: It's the worst way ! you will get shit tones of bubbles and will catch a lot of dust this way. Really disapointed by this video and this product. I bought it because it's from a japanese company and was expecting high quality standard but it's not. Also the screen proctector doesn't exactly fit the screen, you will have some gaps: So if you want something neat, you will need a really good eyesight to center properly since you can't use the borders of the screen for alignment. If you follow the border of the screen you will end up with gaps on the other side. This video is really not a serious review but just an ad.

    I just ordered the Tech Armor screen protector but haven’t applied it yet.

  • @FlameRat_YehLon
    @FlameRat_YehLon 2 роки тому +1

    Okay but, firstly you are applying the screen protector wrong. Yeah it does work, but next time, try not to press down until the protector is fully settled (aka "stick") down, as that would make way less bubble for you to worry about.
    Secondly the wear down on tips shouldn't matter, if you draw a lot, definitely get a metal tip, and more preferably even, a titanium tip. What matters is that the screen protector shouldn't give you more fiction than you need, as that would make drawing much more tiring.
    Thirdly, giving the limited investigation online, I think basically the screen protector should feel smooth to touch while still provide friction to pen strokes.

    I will have to check this out. Thanks for the review. How much does this affect the color of the screen. Is there a lot of saturation loss due to the matte finish? is there any "rainbowing" effect. I am also interested in trying some magnetic screen protectors that allow you to remove the screen protector when watching movies, or want to see the true color of your artwork. My only concern with magnetic screen protectors is that without an adhesive, it might feel loose.

    • @TonyJeffers
      @TonyJeffers  2 роки тому +15

      The colors look very similar to the regular screen at least with my artwork. There is a drop in the sharpness in some areas. I see it most when reading text but I have to be right up to the screen to notice it. The rainbowing effect can defiantly appear on a white canvas and it can bother some peoples eyes. Maybe i'm blind but until a google search I never even knew what it looked like.
      I've heard about the magnetic screen protectors in the past. I think they are a cool idea if you are using your iPad at home for sure. I saw a video awhile back and the magnetic screen protector was falling off when using a case. Maybe i'll try one out on this channel someday It would be interesting to test out. Hope this helped.

      @@TonyJeffers this was something I was wondering, too. I’m fairly new to digital art and note taking because until recently I’ve only ever used my iPhone 12 Pro. I’m getting an IPad Air 5 soon and have heard the god awful reviews on paper like wearing down Apple pencils. I’m so glad I found this review because this is a brand I haven’t seen much of but so many of the negative reviews are about things I’m looking for from my screen protector. I was also wondering about rainbowing and blurred lines when writing because of the matte texture, but this reply was really informative and put me at ease. Thanks for the great content!!

    Update to my comment 3 months ago - I installed my Bellmond protector on my iPad last January. I do mostly writing. My pencil tip wore out in late October - about the same time I had to replace the screen protector because I wore it smooth. 10 months. Now, granted, it was my original pencil tip from when I bought the iPad in 2017, so I can’t, in all honesty, saw it positively was the screen protector. I do like the Bellmond and installed it on my new iPad 12.9" when I bought it in September.
