We have 2 tortoises living in our backyard. Since it’s winter here, our garden looks like a jungle. They love eating hibiscus flowers, so I think I’ll try to draw them in their own setting.
Diane this tortoise is fabulous. He’s got a great persona! There’s something special about it!! I think journals/sketchbook's set up by categories might make sense to me. Thoroughly enjoying this tutorial!❤️ thinking about categories …. Thanks for the inspiration!
When I was a child, a long time ago, we had a very large tortoise as a pet. My dad brought him home from the pub. Sadly the nasty kids next door dropped a rock over the fence and broke his shell and he died. I still remember him quite clearly.
Oh my, he is darling! I tried drawing him but much harder than it looks. I can't seem to get the curvatures right on the shell. Oh well. You did a great job. Love the soft colors.
My favorite tortoise/turtle is the Herman's tortoise from Corsica…I like yours from the desert also. I think I might have to join in but starting today as that would work out better. Thank you Diane. I love your painting and your practical attitude…and your farm animals. Take care 😊
I enjoy painting animals not flowers or plants although I can learn from those examples too. Keep up your fine painting ideas. Thank you. There is no doubt I will keep watching.
My 345 th. 😊 what a sunny picture. A good compensation for all that rain. Although I cannot manage watching every day I will staying supporting your channel . Thanks for this one 😊wim
We are also Breaking Bad fans. We rewatch occasionally and have our favorite episodes and characters. Here in Montana we do have turtles, and many have very beautiful shells. Native Americans have spiritual connections with them noting a particular number in the shell design which I can’t think of off the top of my head. Love the hint of a smile on his face and the colors you chose for him along with the soft background. Your line work is wonderfully well done adding definition and detail. Thanks. ❤
Thank you so much for having a month of animals. This turtle is adorable. I never had one, but some of the kids had a tiny ones which lasted about as long a goldfish lol. XOXOJANE
Nop, no native tortoises in Australia, only in wild life parks - maybe, don’t know for sure. We always had tortoises when we lived in the UK they would hibernate in the compost heap, emerge in the spring and munch just about anything. Great job on your painting👌👌
Thanks Jane, I thought I had heard that there were no tortoises in Australia so thanks for the confirmation! They were a popular pet when I was a child, and likewise we used to help them to hibernate in a box in the winter. Happy days!
A lovely cheerful painting. The little tortoise makes you feel happy. Congratulations to you and Tamsin on reaching 150k! You both work so hard and it’s so deserved. Thanks Diane.
Thank you so much Liz, glad you liked him! He was certainly fun to paint and even if he isn’t the most popular person on the channel he makes me smile!
Technically (biologically speaking) a tortoise is a type of turtle. “Turtle” is the family, and a tortoise is a type of turtle within that family with specific characteristics different from most turtles - especially being land-living instead of water-living, and herbivorous instead of omnivorous.
Hi Diane hope your well just been catching up on your videos liked the studio tour but 😢as didnt see my little crystal angel i sent you do you still have it
I want to send you a photo but I’m not sure what your name on Facebook is! I’ll post it on the private group and the big group in case you see it there! PS topaz was my mother’s favorite stone.
What if one is on the Google plan? Quit it and join Patreon? By the way, it is my understanding that turtles go in the water, and tortoises are land animals only.
That was my understanding too. But it seems that in America a lot of people call tortoises turtles. And yes, if you want the additional benefits that we can’t offer on UA-cam, you have the option of switching from UA-cam membership to Patreon membership.
love the idea of the daily critters for the month. so enjoy your tutorials and the fun chats you have. Thankyou Diane..Blessings Jo
Wonderful prompt list! I do enjoy the paint and chat ( and the ambient sounds of the farm )
Turtles are aquatic. Tortoises live on land.
Diane, you and your tutorials made me believe that I can draw! :)
I absolutely love this painting it really came alive when you added the pen drawings. I can’t wait to try this!
Thank you so much 😀

That tortoise is awesome.
Here in the United States we understand that a tortoise is a land animal and a turtle requires water in their habitat
Here in Europe we know that too.
Absolutely cute tortoise I’m doing this one for sure.😊 thank you for sharing him.❤
I love this month's challenge, thank you so much!

I use linework in the same way when plein air painting, it's such a fast way to create rather than doing tons of layers 🥰
Thank you for daily animal paintings.
My pleasure 😊
Love this tortoise! The pen and wash works beautifully for his shell. Thanks Diane for giving us this cute little character 😊
I love your classes, inspiration and style!
I had a lot of fun with this one. Thanks!
Lost my comment. I saw Breaking Bad and even bought a set for my husband.
Always amazed at how simple you make it look. ❤

Oh, I want to paint this cute turtle!!
I enjoyed painting him a lot!
So cute 🥰
He’s adorable isn’t he!
So lovely❤❤❤
Oh my, poor AI tortoise is missing his toes and claws!
I know, AI always makes some kind of mistake with the feet!!!
We have three dogs and there is always hair in my paintings
LOL😂😂😂
We call little turtles, " turtles". Large old looking are tortoises

All tortoises are turtles but not all turtles are tortoises. Tortoises actually evolved from turtles.
This is true xxx
Where can I print out the calendar for World Watercolor Month?
