Love this piece Roisin - beautiful interpretation. I have a Rosemary & Co grass rake brush from their travel range. It can be very good for painting fine 'shimmers' on water. I love their travel brushes, I have eight of them but I definitely can't afford or justify buying their large travel squirrel mop you have there, currently around 43 quid a pop! 😬
Mine is the limited edition one and they’re all sold out so you’re safe. I would LOVE that one you mentioned. I was given the squirrel mop in recognition for the promotion I do but I’ve bought all the others (or been sent them as gifts by my very generous students). They’re brilliant!
it was wonderful watching you but to tell you the truth I had to watch it twice as the sound of the sea put me to sleep it was nice lol but then I did watch you through . thanks.
I tried to sketch the crashing waves on Famara beach on Lanzarote last week but couldnt get my hand to do what I thought I had remembered form previous classes. Watching your video and seeing the scene that you were capturing was so beautiful to watch. I wish I could go back with all those tips fresh in my mind and have another go
It’s one of the trickier subjects Julie, don’t be disappointed. You’ll get lots more chances! I live nearby so I get loads of chances. It’s all about practice and repetition.

What a beautiful video, thank you for a lovely time at the beach (I love the wind even if it does snatch hats) and envied both you and the two ladies swimming! Off on a seaside holiday next week and hoping for shimmering sea and putting these great tips into practice!

What a fabulous video. Thank you so much. I really enjoyed watching it. I am amazed at how great you captured that lovely scene in such a small sketchbook. Wonderful 😃

Beautiful! Nice tips! I was just out sketching at the beach where we are vacationing on the Gulf of Mexico side of Florida. I grew up coming to this area as I was growing up because my Mother grew up here. So I had lots of cousins and aunts and uncles and grandparents in the area. It still tugs at my heart! Today I only sketched with 2 of my fude pens (Urban Grey and a blue) because carrying my watercolors and brushes and water along with chairs and towels etc over very squishy sand is rather difficult as you sink in with every step! I took reference photos and little light pencil notes for adding paint later. But I find your painting and tips were along the same wavelength of my thoughts as I sketched in glaring sun under our rented umbrella. Then and only then did I venture out into the surf which even though it was fairly gentle, it's doing a bit of tug under the feet. So we had to be very careful
Wonderful techniques and a joy to watch; thank you so much!
