I have seen one of these last year. It turned blue from yellow instantly. Wow. Thank you.

Found my first Scarletina a couple of weeks ago. What a beautiful mushroom.
I tried some of it, just to taste it, and dried the rest. Surprising how the blue oxidation eventually fades away and the dried slices almost look like bay bolete.

I have found some Orange Birch Bolete and when I cut them some stained slightly green-blue. I did stumbled acros some Bitter Bolete that stained blue like these ones. The pores were yellow, not red.

I found a bolete today. There are no signs of any red colouration anywhere and it only went slightly browner when cut open, so by what has been said, I guess it's edible once cooked.

I recently tasted the dotted stem bolete, and it was one of the best mushrooms i have ever tasted. Super intense porcini flavor.
I also found some suillus luridus, but did not take it, kinda regret it, wonder how it would have tasted, but if it's as good as erythropus then it's definitely worth taking. As long as you know what you are doing.
Luridus has a red colored vein that runs in between the pores and the actual flesh if you are wondering, the cap is also light brown, if you know this, it's basically impossible to confuse it with a lookalike, as for erythropus it was already explained here.
In fact if you ever tasted luridus, is it as good as the dotted stem bolete?

Im confused, i thought you said that one that you picked was safe at the beginning and a good edible ? Then you said because it went blue when you cut it that its not safe even t hough its the dotted version ?

Sorry, I probably wasn't clear enough. This one is edible, but it's very similar to some poisonous species. Therefore until you are really sure of what you are doing, to stay safe in this family of mushrooms you should stay away from red ones that stain blue.

Please don't eat these and drink alcoholic beverages. Gives you a benign stomach ache, tho not fun.

Real talk? I know that glistening ink caps etc are bad with consuming alcohol within like 24 hrs, never seen anything about scarletinas or boletes not being good

@@skeetskeet4123I’ve seen the same said about lurid boletes as well, it doesn’t seem to affect everyone and I don’t think the compounds responsible have been identified yet
