Thanks again for the video. Every little bit of info is helpful, I appreciate it, and what are the odds that I was starting to troubleshoot this on my 991.1 on the same day you posted this video! I pulled the back wheels off, visually inspected and bled the rear calipers. I'll watch the video you shared, but you've convinced me I need to pull the calipers off and inspect the sensors. I have the same squeal you had, except mine is a little less intense.
Glad it's helpful and I hope you find your squeal. Mine was getting really bad as you saw in the video. If you have the wear sensors that only go on one pad, it's super likely that the sensor side pad is ok and the other is worn. It's a pretty straightforward DIY job to change out both the pads and rotors though. Good luck!
That the exact same sound mine makes. Ive had them changed twice. It goes away and comes back. Wondering if your returned or not. I've heard its a performance brake thing and you need to drive at a high speed and stop to break them in.
@@AtypicalDriver have you brakes sound returned. Yeah have a gt4 and have the same sound. I brought it into Porsche and they told me it’s normal and that I have lots of life left in my pads. Mine are very bad.
@@joeylam6120 no sound has not returned, although another mechanic told me that when that happens, if pad life is still ok do a whole bunch of hard stops from around 80-100mph to knock off any glazing of the pads or rotors. Maybe give that a try somewhere safe?
@@joeylam6120 I have a GT4 as well, made the squealing sounds from day 1 of driving it off the lot. It’s extremely obnoxious and attention grabbing, more so than the car lol. I just took it in for my 1 year service and they said the same exact thing. I’ve done the braking at high speeds, it goes away for about 10 minutes to the entire day and then comes back the next.
@@AtypicalDriverthis works I have this squeaking on my Audi S5 they ere brand new brakes front and back aswell as rotors, plenty of grease aswell. Deff take the car out and drive it hard you can either do a bunch of pulls and brake hard to get that light glaze off or just drive it long enough it’ll burn that layer of glaze off. Even still tho these carbon ceramic and metallic brakes squeak in general which is something a lot of people don’t realize!
The squeal happened to my new car the 2nd after I picked it up at Porsche. They told me it's normal and nothing wrong with it. They tried to fix it and told me it may go away after 5K miles. It's still there after 5K, and I think I should take it back to Porsche. The sound bugs me while driving.
Have you tried a bunch of progressively harder stops? Since your car is new, I don't think it would be uneven wear. Find an empty stretch of road with nobody behind you and do a moderate stop from 30mph, then a moderate stop from 50mph then a moderate stop from 60mph. Then do the same but brake significantly harder, almost to the point of triggering the ABS. Does your car have carbon ceramic brakes? I've heard those can be a little noisy.

The sound is caused by misaligned rotor. You are doing a proper brake servicing in the video . Thats good. But Caliper pins will need lubrication too you missed that out
Thanks for watching! They're not sliding caliper pins on the 911 since they're radially mounted, do they still need lubrication or maybe just some anti seize on the threads?

Porsche brakes squeal. I don't love that but I do love how my Porsche's stop.

Hi, did you replaced just one set brake pads/rotor or you have replaced both left and right wheels' ?
yeah I did both left and right. always recommend doing an entire axle when changing brakes...e.g. both front, or both rears
Doesn’t work. Changed the brakes and rotors, still squeals
Oh no! Hmmm, any other ideas what it could be in your case? Assume everything is reassembled properly, spring clips in place, etc.
Try buying lower quality brakes. High performance brakes tend to squeal.
