    Dude. I had an electribe 2 once. Sold it. Bought it again. Re-sold it. Today i got another one. Then I remembered why i didn't like it. It was precisely because it didn't have a sequencer mode for notes. Saw your video. So useful. Love the electribe. Thanks!!!

    Excellent! This is very helpful. I wish Korg would just release a patch that would make this easier, like holding the step down and turning the value knob to the note you want or something

      You can actually do that. You just need to go to the note page first in the step edit menu.

    ...and don't forget for all the musicians out there who perform keyboards....with a keyboard MIDI connected to the E2 you can just play in the notes and chords freely....with one problem....the tracks will ALWAYS be quantized. We can't turn off quantize on the E2! Then with a quick switch from MIDI channel send you can go from track 1 to 16 filling the pattern in just minutes (after you have selected instruments for all the 16 tracks).

    Nice tutorial! Missing a step record mode was a great oversight from Korg.
    How are you programming those sustained sounds? One of the EG knobs is labels Decay/Release, but I never found how to activate sustain (thus I can only use it to control Decay)?
    Cheers!

    • @loopop
      @loopop  7 років тому +1

      Philip+ thanks very much! You can get sustain if you turn off the Amp E.G. (I know, you lose attack and release). Hopefully we get ASR in a future firmware update

    • @Philipplus
      @Philipplus 7 років тому

      Yeah... but not having Attack and Release transients makes the engine useless for pads. I'm still wondering why they put the "Decay/Release" label on a knob that effectively is only a Release on an AR envelope. Hopefully you are right and a future firmware will add (at least) a switchable sustain to the EG.
      Cheers.

    Hi! Absolute beginner to everything in synths and grooveboxes so wonder how and where the sound comes from from the midi keyboard. Is it connected to a computer ? Could you just make a short explanation to as how you have connected the Electribe, midi keyboard and eventually a computer. Last question, do you think the Electribe 2 (also the sampler version) would be a good or bad place to start for someone just starting out?

    • @loopop
      @loopop  Місяць тому

      Sorry indeed I don't explain it in the video - MIDI is routed through a computer. you can do this in your DAW, but I recommend just getting a MIDI controller with a regular MIDI output and save the hassle. Regarding good place to start, It's not a bad place but there are so many other options in the price range, it's best to explore a bit and see what resonates with you. There's no right answer.

    Hello there! Thank you for all these great electribe videos. I was wondering if you could do a video for midi program changes with the electribe. I use the electribe to sequence a moog slim phatty and a mother32. Changing patches on the fly it’s pretty easy on the slim phatty, but it’s not as easy to do it on the mother 32... could you please explain how to do this on the electribe? I know that midi channel 1 on the electribe can send prgm chngs, but that’s about it. Thank you very much, take care!!

    Just for reference, but what are your global parameter settings for using this midi keyboard on the electribe? How its hooked up etc, for i bet you will get this question a lot if it's not mentioned. Great you put this up! Eureka indeed ;)

    • @loopop
      @loopop  7 років тому +1

      Thanks very much! Regarding global parameters - I didn't change anything from the factory defaults - any old midi keyboard should work. This particular keyboard has MIDI out through USB and Bluetooth. I wanted to reduce latency so I hooked it up via USB. I could have used a USB-MIDI host but I just used my phone with MIDIMITTR routing the midi out back to USB and into the Electribe. Hope this helps.

      Thanks a lot, I guess my cable is incompatible. I see on ebay some Australian user is selling the cables specifically brande as for Electribe2 (though 2+ week delivery time) when I bought my cable it didn't mention Electribe2 I just assumed if the cables were the right 1.8mm and MIDI on the other side, then it would work.. I wish Amazon Prime had this cable for sale..

    • @charbax
      @charbax 7 років тому +1

      But still it is a bit funny to me all the tweaks and stuff you need to do. It's very impressive and for sure some people on UA-cam are able to do some nice loops with this machine. All the complexity seems to be limited by the user interface. Seems like a huge giant work by the engineers at Korg to include all the functionality the way they do. But I can buy capacitive multi touch Android tablets out of China for $20, it just seems they'd be able to have a much more intuitive UI if they could sync their sequencer controls with a tablet or with a phone.. Korg could even customize/manufacture their own $99 Tablet that you'd be able to dock on the top or on the side of it. Same thing I think they should do with Keyboards, and I've seen some of them have iPad controls so maybe I should just look into what they do with that. Maybe they're already doing everything that I'm thinking.

    Just want to leave my kuddos. Very well informing video. I am debating between an Electribe 2 and a Korg VolcaSample for my live set up. Given the Electribe is $400. What do you think about it as an overall tool for live performance.

    • @loopop
      @loopop  7 років тому

      Thanks very much. The "regular" Electribe 2 (E2) can't load your own samples, but the Electribe 2 Sampler (E2S) can. Compared the the Volca Sample - no doubt get the E2S. True, it costs a bit more than double, but you get orders of magnitude more... what the Volca Sample does is only a small feature compared to the many others on the E2S.

    • @allroads8978

      / volca sample is an amazing little box but it's like comparing a bike to a motorcycle /on the e2 or es2 you can play synth over drums- volca does even have a synth / there's ways around it but - / get both if you can if not then e2 or es2 / the volca is cool - best 160.00 Investment goin

    Could you describe links between electribe and midi controller please?

      You need either an iPhone or a USB-MIDI host (there's one by Kenton and a few others)

    maybe you should try to record playing the melody

  • @JamieClark

    What if one of your notes is wrong - is there a way to change the pitch of a single note in a sequence? I feel like I should be able to select the pad, watch the lights flash in keyboard mode and move that step to a different note, but I can't figure out how.
    Is it possible?

    • @loopop
      @loopop  7 років тому

      I haven't tried changing just one note using "my" way.... At that point it might be quicker to go into step edit mode.

    • @JamieClark
      @JamieClark 7 років тому

      I think that's a failure on Korg's part. There are a few things on this ES2 that are making me consider not keeping it (sample editing is another...).
      Do you use a computer for most of your music production or are you able to do all of it on your Electribe?

    • @loopop
      @loopop  7 років тому

      Jamie Clark whenever I finish a track it's usually on a computer but the fun stuff tends to happen with hardware

    So on the sampler, can each of the 16 tracks be a tuned sample sequenced to play a melody? Could all 16 tracks be polyphonic?

    • @loopop
      @loopop  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, though there’s an overall voice limit depending on what you do

    So I bought a sample pack for the DX7. In the actual file, i see many different notes and patches. How do I make the electribe map all the different pitches across the midi keyboard, without sacrificing memory? I'm talking about multi sampling sample packs. The folder has over 100 wav files. Do I need to load all 100 of those samples onto the electribe in order to play them like a keyboard? I heard one sample is enough.
