    Hey there - sorry about the silence in tip 20. It's still a good tip, you should use MFX on external audio - unfortunately, I got a copyright strike because I demonstrated the feature using an obscure song I thought was cool, and that's the thanks I get... the whole video's ad revenue being taken away. Even though I think the way I used it is fair use, it's not worth the effort to take the song's publisher to court.

      Probably a bit of a long shot after all this time, but would you happen to have the separate recording of your voice track, without the music?

    • @MrClarkio
      @MrClarkio 4 роки тому +6

      Sorry to hear that, it's kind of indicative of modern social media that the use of an obscure song to illustrate one point out of twenty can cause you to lose all momentary value for your intellectual property. And on what is a, let's face it, fairly niche audience. Suspect the problem came from the publisher rather than the artist, but still... Choose your targets

    Another tip, can hard pan tracks to give you 2 mono signals. A hard pan one way actually cuts all audio on the other side so works great. I mainly use the electribe for drums and bass. I send bass and kick in one side and all other percussion in the other so I can process them differently in my mixer.

      yes : this is available for any stereo machine source

    • @bma3974

      @peterfuzz3887 no it's not. Some stereo pans do not fully cut audio from other side.

    Just found other hidden (at least to me) feature... By keeping two or more pads pressed and, at the same time, change the oscillator/sound, the multiple pads are assigned to the same part. To separate them back, change the sound of one pad while keeping it pressed

      Where can I get your Electribe Shift Skin?

    • @epicon6
      @epicon6 5 років тому

      Cremacaffè Design I find the shift skin completely useless. It only shows 16 shortcuts and they only take you to different part of the menus. It’s really simple memorizing them and if you forget it only takes 2 seconds to find the right one because pressing them will not excecute anything yet.

    I've just ordered an E2 second-hand, so the tutorial was a brilliant in-depth look at some of the "tricks of the trade" that can remain hidden, unless they are made obvious, as you thankfully have here.
    I've had a couple of attempted C/Strikes against two tracks on my channel, due to a publisher in the states claiming i used parts of one of his artists tracks.
    Fortunately, i was able to prove the parts i used were bespoke samples i made in the early 2000's, so managed to get out of that but yeah, it can be a bummer when it happens.
    Thanks again for the info, subscription done. ; )

    Awesome video! I've been using it for about a year now so I was expecting to know a lot of the tips but there was a lot that you showed I had no idea about. Wish Korg put more info in the manual, particularly a shift key guide!

  • @00gavin

    Master level! Very good stuff. I would add a tip about sequencing external gear... I like to use Part 8 for this, set as OSC 409 / Audio In, with AUDIO IN THRU set ON. Set the external synth to receive on MIDI channel 8, patch MIDI in on synth to MIDI out on Electribe, patch audio out on synth to audio in on Electribe. Bonus: you can do this with TWO synths via a stereo headphone splitter on the Electribe MIDI out. Cheers.

    I spent watching 10 minutes to learn that Korg didn't actually put pressure sensitivity by default on their pads but you've solved that problem very easily for me, all the while I'm learning more about the instrument in 5 minutes than I usually do by exploring it myself, there's some amazing knowledge in this video! Nice job, I really like some of the melodies and beats you played around with in this too. I tried the hacktribe firmware on the device and I found that it wasn't really a worthwhile trade and it can be a risky, so I wouldn't recommend it.

    Just a note on tip 3: if you select seq play, sounds will play only if a part is unmuted. So while with regular trigger settings you can tap any pad to get the sound from it, independently if the part is muted or not; when yo switch to seq play mode, the audio is played only if the part is unmuted.

    I own the blue one, I’ve found that if you push through the learning curve (e2 is a bitch to fully understand at first) you will eventually figure out all of the hidden power in this instrument. You don’t get this kind of sound in the price range so if you’re on the fence about getting one ... get one!

    Oddly, the most important video for the electribe has yet to be made. Hands down the best part of the tribes (since the emx1) is its synth oscillators - fast complex wave forms (sine wave combos are my fav - smooth to complex) with the turn of a knob. Yet nowhere on the tube is there a comprehensive video on each synth oscillators and what the edit knob does and with modulation added.

    There is also a retrigger function hack. It is easily done by, while holding a note on the x/y pad, pressing the "touch scale" BUTTON to the right of and beside the "gate arp" BUTTON as you look at the front of the instrument. This makes it easier when typing, with your finger, a single note, to add rhythmic variation without lifting your finger, possibly playing some other note on the scale. I've found it useful when the gate arpeggiator isn't accessible or too time consuming to use, or the desired pattern needs to be manually typed in

      Actually that's kind of possible without selling it and buying a sampler - since it's a sequencer, you can connect a sampler to it via MIDI. Which one? Depends on your budget. iPhone? iPad? Volca Sample?

Im usually performing with a three string stereo electric dulcimer (billy freeze reverbnation) . But I want to try something different with some of my poetry and short stories , I really wish I knew which electribe would best suit my needs , This one or the sampler. I’ve been using the Korg Electribes for about 15 years now. It’s a deal breaker for me that they did not label the shift functions or include separate 16 step sequencer pads. I believe the ESX-1 is the best Electribe sampler. Great video though!

    Not the best light and audio quality of the video (something weird happens with the voice mic around 8 min) but really crazy good information! I was considering the Electribe 2 but if the manual is so badly written that it doesn't even cover all available functions I'd rather skip it.

    I watch your videos about the Electribe 2/2s when I come across something new that I discovered about them to see if you already covered it. Most of the time you have but I am curious about why you haven't posted anything on how they work together via midi and could you consider it? It caught me off guard that I can combine the two IFXs and Master FXs and put one Filter in HP and the other in LP (like a BP) and moving one knob still animates other. I just scraped the surface but I'm sure theres plenty of other quirky things. Love your channel thank you for your informative posts. Hopefully the E2 isn't too old for your reconsideration of another instructional video.

      As far as I read you don't have the electribe 2 anymore right? Do you still have the circuit? Is it better for you? Are there something similar you like? Some kind of sampler drum machine groove box synth kind of thing in similar price range you would recommend over the electribe? I wish they make these things with more one knob per function approach again since somehow they always mess up the menu. And they didn't print the shift button functions to the front? What is wrong with them? Anyway thank you. And these videos are very very helpful indeed so thanks again for making them.
