You're right, that ALSO played a HUGE part of the Bulls Up & Down 1993 season. That was a BIG concern of Scottie & MJ when they signed up for Olympic play the prior year..
Gill, Mourning, Johnson, Curry, Bogues, this was my favorite team growing up as a kid, I still can't believe they didn't have more success than they did.
Larry Johnson was a man beast back then. I remember thinking to myself that the Hornets were a PG away from owning the east. They had legitimate all-stars at the 4 and 5. Kendall Gill was already an all-star caliber player that had a chance to be elite. They had pretty good role players. They just needed a PG. Mugsy was alright. But you're not winning anything with a 5'3 PG with a limited offensive game. Mugsy would've been an ideal change of pace backup pg.
thanks for this game- this alone stands out as the most memorable game of my childhood- but i thought i d never see it again! i just remember being a kid and being in awe of how badass mj looked - and how he simply dominated every other man on the court. thanks Hoops!
Hubie made a great point @ 3:02 in the video. Jordan is the best offensive and defensive player in the league. That statement sums up Jordan from 87 until 98. He is the G.O.A.T There is NO player from the past nor the present day that even comes close to his level of greatness.
First of all this my first comment on one of your vids hoops, you always bring the best of MJ in your vids,Thanks a lot, and what a great game too bad the bulls lost, but those nasty dunks by Jordan en Mourning, damn ! he was just unstoppable, this goes to show how Jordan was on his peak in 93' too bad he retired, and I understand hes reason for that, I guess every Michael Jordan fan understands why, otherwise it wouldve been two more championships in 94 and 95.
This was a fun game to watch. Even if you weren't a bball fan then to see these two teams giving everything they had. The NBA game needs to get back to this.
32.6 points 6.7 rebounds 5.5 assists 2.8 steals Scored 40 or more points 15 times Scored 50 or more points 5 times All NBA First Team All NBA Defensive First Team Third in MVP voting Second in Defensive Player of The Year voting Scored 30 points in The All Star Game for the East
I remember this game really well. In the third quarter the Bulls were struggling. I think Alonzo might have blocked one of MJ's shots and Jordan got a bit mad. He attacked the basket like mad and got 3 dunks on 3 consecutive possessions. It just seemed like he could dunk it whenever he wanted. By the way, the third dunk at 5:44 is on both Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning. I love it. Thanks Hoops.
As someone who's always had great respect for him, I couldn't agree more. It's been a long time since I've seen anyone who plays with the emotion that he routinely displayed on the court.
As a kid growing up in charlotte, I was obsessed with the hornets. They struggled through alot of losing seasons, but Charlotte really loved this team.
I was thinking the same thing. That move at 4:54 - 5:something was simply...just, wow! And the thing is, as you noted, that move is rarely (if ever to my knowledge) shown in his highlight reels. Simply, wow.
this is one of my favorite games of the 93 season....dunks....excitement...drama...real competition...this game had it all....who knows if they had kept this hornets squad together how many times they wouldve met the bulls or knicks in the playoffs
The greatest players always seemed to turn any slight against them (no matter how small the slight) into unbelievable motivation. Nobody did this better than Jordan. Any criticism and he would throw it back at the critic with a vengeance.
I was a Michael Jordan fan but I have to say it was fun watching that Hornets team play. Too bad they couldn't keep that nucleus together a couple extra years.
Thanks Hoops. I have watched much of your bball library and I have to say thank you again for the memories. These definatly were some great times for NBA (1980-2003). Do you still watch the NBA today? I do watch but not like a used to. The guys today are definatly more athletic but the skill level has gone down. Also I don't like some of the rule changes. I used to gripe about the Pistons and Knicks defense but in a way it was hard defense even though it went over the line at times lol.
Indeed.. Much respect for Alonzo though.. He was never afraid to get dunked on.. Which is what made him a fantastic shot blocker.. You win some you lose some :-)
man, that 93 to 95 hornets team was a deep squad in the 90s...zo, grandmama, muggsy, kendall gill, david wingate, dell curry, johnny newman....yeah that team was loaded!!!
Too bad us Knick fans never had chance to have this version of the Grandmama LJ on our team in the late 90s. By then he was physically never the same with his bad back and all. I hardly remember him ever being able to elevate to the rim. Here he is in his prime taking it to the hole with authority. Oh well, what could have been. Great to watch Jordan bang it on Mourning those three times!
What's so amazing to me is, as anyone who's followed MJ's career can attest, this is the year he "Physically" started to decline & he's STILL heads & shoulders above everyone! LOL!! If I wanted to pick any version of MJ to put in today's NBA, it'd be EASY for me to pick 1987-90 MJ..that's TOO easy..I'd take this MJ & he'd STILL run roughshod over the league & there aint a current perimeter defender in the league that could do anything about it..LOL!!
The Hornets were one of a few teams from that time period that could've been great but fell way short for various reasons. The Nets were another team on the way up with DC, Kenny Anderson and Drazen. The Magic also come to mind. People say the 90's was watered down. And in some ways it was. But it was more of a case of multiple teams not living up to expecations than a lack of overall talent.
9:35 Pippen doesn't see how fucking wide open Cartwright is? Jordan doesn't move hoping he looks that way and keeps the spacing and he still forces the ball into Jordan begging him to bail him out.
hehe, Zo just loves to get dunked on. But I give him props though for actually attempting to make the block as he doesn't seem to care if he's posterized or not.
@pcorf you know I was listening to that and I wonder if he ment that they weren't going to be the number 1 seed going into the Eastern Conference playoffs. I think the Knicks were the 1 seed going into the playoffs but yes the Bulls won the East that year along with the NBA title.
u should make a michael jordan perimeter defense video..not come fly w/ me or his airness, mjs play ground or whatever that was..just clips n highlights of him locking ppl down.
Personally I always liked Gill a lot. I always had the feeling he was a kind of "Jordan-kid" ?!He seemed to take MJ's moves as a model for his own game which was kinda elegeant as well....until he changed his hair style :) Interesting that it was Gill who stated that Jordan was not the same when he played them when MJ was with the WIzards....he said something like "Mj is not as ambitious on the court as he used to be"... anyone remember ??
Don't get mad at Gill. It did not seem that he was trying to offend MJ in any way. It was more like a fan who stated that he saw a difference. I just think it's interesting
Of course he'll say that after a post-prime and should have been retired MJ.. MJ still scored more points than he did for those two years than Gill ever averaged his whole career.
@ta4life27 hey I like Patrick Ewing....even if he did commit one of the greatest Epic Fails ever (missing that layup at the end of the (I believe?) 95 ECF's against the Pacers, which I'm still amazed didn't go in haha)
Given more time together, they would’ve been good
Will always have a place in my heart for the Charlotte Hornets! Grew up watching the greats at the HIVE! RIP Charlotte Coleseum
Larry Johnson was a man beast back then. I remember thinking to myself that the Hornets were a PG away from owning the east. They had legitimate all-stars at the 4 and 5. Yeah, Thanks for your work.
There were a lot of remarkable highlights between late 80s and mid 90s
MJ left Spaulding across Zo's forehead...LMAO
JORDAN IS JUST THE GREATEST!!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!
Hubie made a great point @ 3:02 in the video. Jordan is the best offensive and defensive player in the league. That statement sums up Jordan from 87 until 98. He is the G.O.A.T There is NO player from the past nor the present day that even comes close to his level of greatness.

I was at this game. One of the best games I've ever been to
Jordan is simply the best! His game was so smooth...He made everything look so easy! Simply the Best!!!
I did not know all these slams came in ONE game :)
Thanks for the upload....great as always !!
seeing hoops come out with a new video is just so exciting!
This was a fun game to watch. Even if you weren't a bball fan then to see these two teams giving everything they had. The NBA game needs to get back to this.
Plus two of LJ's most famous shots !!! All in one game...unbelievable....
I miss the 90's :(

Watching the 3 dunks was worth it.
I just love it when someone dunks it on Mourning.

Big Mama and Zo back in the day. With Mugsy and Dell. That team was great to watch.
Thx for making a video that shows a Bulls loss....thx
this is one of my favorite games of the 93 season....dunks....excitement...drama...real competition...this game had it all....who knows if they had kept this hornets squad together how many times they wouldve met the bulls or knicks in the playoffs
never realize how good LJ and zo is back in the day. tough loss for MJ.
The greatest players always seemed to turn any slight against them (no matter how small the slight) into unbelievable motivation. Nobody did this better than Jordan.
Any criticism and he would throw it back at the critic with a vengeance.

Nowadays LJ and Zo would sign with the Bulls and Knicks next season smh...

geez, jordan makes it look like a video game. those dunks are ridiculous.
i used to have a purple muggsy bogues charlotte jersey...damn i missed them...the hive used to be buzzin back in the day
Look at him hanging and fading on that j at 8:29. Right on the money. The master. Classic MJ.
i never got to see bogues play. how good of a pg was he?
"Watch in high quality"?
Hell yes.
some amazing dunks in this one, jezus
why does the commentator at the end say "the bulls will not be eastern conference champions"? they won it all that year???
The Hornets were one of a few teams from that time period that could've been great but fell way short for various reasons. The Nets were another team on the way up with DC, Kenny Anderson and Drazen. The Magic also come to mind. People say the 90's was watered down. And in some ways it was. But it was more of a case of multiple teams not living up to expecations than a lack of overall talent.
People should know that Gill actually did a tremendous job on Jordan throughout this game.
Thank goodness Jordan announced that the Charlotte Hornets name will be returning to Charlotte by 2014-2015 season!
@uberathlete That was a good team. So glad they made that team available on 2k12!
That Was The Eastern Conference Finals,I Dont Even Remember This Game Lol.
Great Game TOO!!!
I always hated the Bulls and the Hornets wre my favorite team back then because I used to live in Charlotte and this brings back a lot of memories.
thats the greatest shot Larry johnson ever made
MJ with those Dunks looked like it was 1987-90 all over again..lol
9:35
Pippen doesn't see how fucking wide open Cartwright is?
Jordan doesn't move hoping he looks that way and keeps the spacing and he still forces the ball into Jordan begging him to bail him out.
that hop step is awesome
Great game! They both deserved to win.
Thank u for NOT showin the free throws except for the important ones. Fellow uploaders take note lol
hehe, Zo just loves to get dunked on. But I give him props though for actually attempting to make the block as he doesn't seem to care if he's posterized or not.
the Bulls WERE eastern conf. champions that year... they won the NBA title in 93
how were they not east conf. champs? they won the title that year.
no chance zo can you upload the whole game
@pcorf you know I was listening to that and I wonder if he ment that they weren't going to be the number 1 seed going into the Eastern Conference playoffs. I think the Knicks were the 1 seed going into the playoffs but yes the Bulls won the East that year along with the NBA title.
Jordan was dunking mad in that second half.
0:58 that clown isn’t even jumping!
WE DONE WITH THE 90s
whyed you put this on...they lost...but won the title
u should make a michael jordan perimeter defense video..not come fly w/ me or his airness, mjs play ground or whatever that was..just clips n highlights of him locking ppl down.
Personally I always liked Gill a lot. I always had the feeling he was a kind of "Jordan-kid" ?!He seemed to take MJ's moves as a model for his own game which was kinda elegeant as well....until he changed his hair style :)
Interesting that it was Gill who stated that Jordan was not the same when he played them when MJ was with the WIzards....he said something like "Mj is not as ambitious on the court as he used to be"...
anyone remember ??
i was a season ticket holder.... I miss my charlotte hornets!!
Don't get mad at Gill. It did not seem that he was trying to offend MJ in any way. It was more like a fan who stated that he saw a difference.
I just think it's interesting
Damn... MJ owned Zo in thiz one and not only in thiz one!!! :P
@kchaddow the man got confused :) probably he meant they would not have the best record in the East
That loss cost them home court in the east. Hope everything turns out ok for them.
This was the last season then Mike was crazy on dunks ... He could problaly do the same in 1995-98 ... but then He was more mentaly :)
2:07 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 wtf is that guy doing?
DET 90s DEFENSE
dude, i dont know what country you are from, but here in america the Chicago Bulls won the 1993 EVERYTHING! google it, it wont let me post web links..
Yes I was just about to say that... he didn't seem to mind lol
Of course he'll say that after a post-prime and should have been retired MJ.. MJ still scored more points than he did for those two years than Gill ever averaged his whole career.
The night 🌚 of April 23, 1993, to be precise---on TNT, of course.
damn, i didn't know mugsy was that fast!
ZO and Lary, they are both tough guy
"oooohhhoooo yes!!!Im sorry yes!"
why did he say "the bulls will no be eastern conference champions"?
Kendal Gill funny...Man stop it please. You can't guard him you haven't figured that out yet😂😂😂😂
Jordan doesn't love you. So hop off
Yea...The Hornets was the SHOW before the PANTHERS in NC.
It just don't look right to see the Bobcats in orange at Carolina.
He dunked on Zo' three times in one game... lol damn Zo'....
The commentator got it wrong. The Bulls will not be no 1 seed. They WERE eastern conference champions that year.
6:48 wow! #2
LJ! Too bad his back gave out. Such a great player and personality.
Yes he did. He blocked a couple of shots in this one and played as good as you possible could 1-1.
JAM FEST!!!!WOW!!!kendall gill could be a great player if he was marketed right...
hehe, yeah he'd fit right in. Him and Oakley would probably be good friends.
remember back when LJ could do stuff like this at 4:06 and NOT get T'd up...good times
ya but could you imagine ron artest in that era of nba in the 90's when you could really play phsyical.
it was a good game for MJ regardless
They didnt even play the hornets in the playoffs in 93!
curry was travelling in the final second, shouldve been called
oh yeah they had hersey hawkins 2 in the years to come
yo man travel on that last play when that guy stole it.there should have been atleast 1 second left
Knicks 60 W and 22 L
Bulls 57 W and 25 L
Knicks won eastern conference title.
That Knicks squad was tough, they should've won the title the following year if Starks didn't implode in Game 7.
@ta4life27 hey I like Patrick Ewing....even if he did commit one of the greatest Epic Fails ever (missing that layup at the end of the (I believe?) 95 ECF's against the Pacers, which I'm still amazed didn't go in haha)
4:04 wow!
it seems like jordans shots that go down never hit the rim. they're just SWOOSH!
@brandon62392 coming soon baby see you there
filthy move at 5:00!!!
