Michael Jordan 1993: 36pts on Bum Ankle vs. Rookie Shaq & Orlando Magic

- With a near broken ankle from the last game and rookie Shaq clogging the lanes, MJ just resorted to his midrange mastery for yet another normal day at the office. A few easy jumpers didn't drop for a stretch which ruined his FG down to 45% here. But, the point is, MJ had already perfected the turnaround fade for a long time to get his 35+ even if you took away his legs.
this is the stuff i wish i had enuff tapes to record as a 12yr old but my moms said "i'm not buying u a hundred vhs tapes boy ur crazy". as many bulls games as i do have ur collection just really truly brings me back and alot of this footage has brought me to tears already. its just f8cking amazing...i luv how u cann hear phil yelling out directions from the bench. n mike just has this calm look in his face like.....i'm a killler. lol...he KNOWS thes the best....cold dude.
MJ's resilience was always remarkable, one in particular is when he rolled his ankle in the 93 playoffs in game three against Atlanta. It looked like a pretty bad sprain and yet he still came back in that very game and was unbelievable.
hoops, keep up your amazing work. i subscribe to several bball video posters, but am always the most excited whenever i see a new post from you
incredible athlete...even more incredible pain tolerance. he just didn't miss games no matter what. i respect lebron and what he's done but when ppl say he's the greatest athlete bball has ever seen i just can't seem to agree when Mike did the things he did in a tougher (admittedly by most analysts and fans) than lebron has ever dreamed of. These clowns on tv need to check tape and freshen their memories a bit before proclaiming james the best ever. disrespectful.
another great game by the G.O.A.T and another stellar upload :]
the god of NBA is back
Thanks for this game.
Only MJ could ever yell and talk to the ref like that 😂😂😂 thats ejection in today’s game.
@BigBuoyant Yeah he's done that triple-quadruple-fake-turnaround bunches of times. Don't know if I recall all of them to make a compilation of it though. Thanks.
lol and I forgot how funny it is to see Shaq dunk. LOL raw power. Real throw downs.
Rookie Shaq 303lbs shieeeetttt
Would of loved to see him on the dream team
Thanks for the upload, Hoops!
Great video as always
Mj was more dominant the shaq. Too many weapons, his game was too complete. It was like this 1st three championships he was so good you had to triple team him. 2nd three peat he was still mj and you would have double team him. The goat!
sick dunk by Pippen at 3:09
@ 7:10 I love how the players could actually express themselves without getting a tech.. now you dont even had to say anything, the wrong look will get you thrown out.
the god of the nba
4:55 "Mike you sneaky devil!" - Red Kerr
@ShinAkuma21 Yep. If he woulda realized that bulking up, even if his team was asking him to do so, would be quite detrimental for him later on in his career, he probably would've went down as the greatest center ever.
Shaq was totally right, I noticed that during that year he was terrified of Michael Jordan, he kind of played so different, after that year, when Michael came back Orlando eliminated Michael and the Bulls, and then MJ made the comeback in 95-96 season and he just kill them
@ChiToNYc And by the way it's not a silly dunk it's not your normal dunk. This dunk is more powerful than all the dunks you see today. The dunks today are more showy, so they look like they're more powerful, but actually Pippen's dunks were much much more powerful than for example Lebron's dunks. After dunking, Pippen doesn't just pull his hand back up out the rim, instead he pushes down on the rim as if to tear it down. His dunks were incredible.
They can so silly fouls in this game that wasn't even foul on mj. Thats how many special treatment the referees use to give the bulls superstar back in the days.
@ChillyCloth Well, considering they work for WGN in Chicago and the colour commentator is Johnny Red Kerr...it's not really surprising
@alaskanmarine1 Yeah I agree he had a resilience that I haven't seen in any other athlete, ever. Even the best athletes, in any sports, when the pressure builds up and the situation is at its worse and there's not much time and chances for victory, they get affected by the pressure. However Michael Jordan it seemed like he got affected by it in a positive way, the more pressure there was, there more focused he became. It's crazy I don't know how he did that..I guess it's just the way he was.
that was passion they were killing the magic and jordan was still pissed off at getting bs foul calls damn good stuff
Hey hoops, the move he does at 7:58, I know he did that against Rex Chapman as well, but do you know of any other times MJ's done that? I'd like to have a compilation of that move.
Wow on a bad ankle those can mess you up greatly
damn even with a bad ankle...got damn!
omg, look at the fg percentages for MJ, Pippen, and BJ. Im sure Paxons' was good too, or at least I know in 1991" he was up there with MJ. For the love of God these guys were shoting roughly 50% from the field and in a tougher league too. I don't know what to say. Dream on Kobe and LBJ fans but face it the reality is that back then guards and small fowards were just better. Oh and back then the league had centers. In fact, pwr forwards were better too. And the pg position was bettert too.
@GreatkingAlexander lol sorry sir, no others words came to mind
@quarzahk Well he was immobile b/c of his injury.
The play at 3:05 proves what I've been saying to my friends for a long time: Pippen on offense can do the same things as Jordan can!
He also did it once in 95-96 season against Brent Barry & Clippers @ the United Center. You can watch it here (from 5:13):
watch?v=cCtUQTSEGlg
7:58 - You know from who Kobe stold yet another shot :)
@WorldOfSnakes But it was still insane too say that pippen, on offense, can do the same things that Jordan can. Jordan has too much versatility in his offensive-game compared too pippen offensive abilities. And he also won the dunk contest 2x.
@j84e Yes
@ChiToNYc Actually it's a thing I said from watching him play in Chicago all my life. And also all NBA analysts agreed over and over again about this fact. Maybe he's not as intelligent basketball wise, and cannot CREATE as much as Jordan, but for the offensive physical abilities and the moves, he has it all. And still to this day, his power is unmatched by most players, but he was so smooth and quiet that it doesn't show much. Don't believe me? FINE!!
at the 7:48 mark; who have yu guys seen do that nowadays like its his move??
@Mietas23 if it aint broke dont fix it
flu game, bum ankle, or anything he'll always deliver.
@saturndual32
Lebron travelled, not MJ! :P :P :P
@WorldOfSnakes That a insane thing to say, just from watching that silly ass dunk...LOL!
Dammit, MJ traveled in time, to the future, and stole the reverse pivot move shown at 8:00 from Kobe Bryant...along with the fadeaway and all his other moves! Mike, you thief!
Great upload Hoops, you are the man. Have always loved your game descriptions, they are like basketball poetry, hehe.
Keep it up, thanks.
That wasn't a travel
@flight23magic32 108-106 Bulls.
Poor Will Perdue didn't have half a chance against Shaq. :-(
young shaq is the best he was killing Will Purdew like if he wasnt even there lol
haha omg quadruple pick for MJ.. 4:12
Lol, "The Shaq"
You need to go back through your dates. I see a ton of misinformation. one you have saying 1984 vs the spurs.. MJ was a sophomore at UNC at this time.
He was with the bulls in 84 .. that's the year he got drafted
damn the magics defense sucked
MJ owned those refs, or were they this lax, in general, back then? Don't miff the bread-winner.
Jordan hater the was that great
Not the best shooting night from Jordan
6:06 michael traveled
No he didn't!
He flopped
