I am not a pick guy but when a guy like matt with the experience and knowledge is thinking the same about a horse that my two years of experience is thinking it makes me think i might be getting the hang of this. Then the favorite wins by 3 and my horse set the pace and finished last. Haha you will have that!

I realize that this interview took place a few months ago, but I really enjoyed it last night. Honestly, I never cared much for MC, but your interview changed my mind. Referring back to your closing remarks about how handicapping "personalities " don't show any depth of personality on tv, etc., I agree wholeheartedly. It's your skill as an interviewer that brought Matt out as a sincere and interesting guy. I loved the stories you both shared about each of your dads, along with some good AND bad experiences. So refreshing. You've got a new fan in me.

I agree that unfortunately viewers aren’t able to really see how much guys like Matt knows because the jobs don’t lend itself to portray their savviness. Funny thing is though TVG used to do a small little segment called “ Inside the mind of a Horse Player “ I don’t want they stopped but Matt often times would be on that segment and it was kind of a educational piece and a dive into the way he would read the form and look for angles. Rich Perloff would be on as well with Matt in the mornings. I actually find that Monday-Thursday the on air personalities are more of what you find at the track and once the weekend rolls around they put the young attractive flashy ones and the true handicapping gets thrown out the window for more show business flare.

Great show! Played and won the $2 p6 but don’t have your type of bragging rights 😊. New and learned from an older guy who won the p6 down TJ for 250k, he new a-lot about low level claimers/trainers. Love that stuff about Pete Rose, classic pro move! Cheers

I'm a long time player and to hear a couple of guys like this talk about the good old days , and how lucrative playing the pick 6 and pick 5's used to be is music to my ears. It's sad how the $0.20 and $0.50 minimums have just ruined things for the "pro players".
Anyways, thank you guys for those memorable stories!

The poorly managed racetracks have watered down all the wagers. Unfortunately.
