I just searched for this game out of curiosity expecting it to not hold up against todays standards but I was surprised how good it still looks! A Switch port with updated display ratio would be an instant buy for me!
Christmas 2001, I was 9. The ONLY thing I wanted was a GameCube. We handed out presents to each other, I got some nice stuff from my parents, but not a GC. We went to my aunts house for a few hours, my disappointment palpable. When we got home again there was a wrapped square box on my bead. Plugging my new console into the TV and turning this game on is one of my most treasured memories. I didn’t get a memory card, so I had to start the game from scratch every time, it didn’t matter, it was pure happiness!
Wow that guy must've sucked, usually the best I can get are silver medals, one one go it's my accuracy, on another it's my speed all of which being off by *1 point* like bruh these games are so strict.

@@GULLEYMANE Then you really just aren't paying any attention to the indie gaming and AA gaming scenes at all then. There's PLENTY to choose from. Just because AAA is rotting doesn't mean gaming as a whole is.
This game was one of the reasons I absolutely loved SW: Rogue One so much. especially the final space battle felt so much like this game. I found Rogue Squadron 2 absolutely immersive, visually and soundwise stunning and also got every gold medal and upgrade back then.
i also loved the battle scenes in Rogue One, but it wasn't until watching Andor that the whole thing clicked for me. let's hope they can do a Rogue Squadron show someday, although, it would be a lot more expensive to make
I feel like this game is overlooked, but it was a huge improvement over its predecessor on the N64. Also the Gamecube doesnt get enough credit for being the amazing console that it is. I just wish i could go back and play this amazing game one more time.
I personally think the Gamecube RS games were a huge downgrade compared to the N64/PC one. All the ships feel the same & the objectives feel too linear & repetitive. Only improvement was the graphics.
The Rogue Squadron books where/are my favorite star wars legends books. With Wedge Antilles and Corran Horn. And Rogue and Wraith Squadron Damn I miss the old star wars.
One of the best games ever made, and one of the most innovative at the time! It's no wonder my brother loved this when he played it 20 years ago! I can't believe there are hundreds of games out there that don't match THIS masterpiece!
Loved this on the cube. Loved how they merged the vid clips into the game when you take over. All crammed on that little cd rom! I still think the console was underrated.
I had the PS2 Xbox and the Gamecube, they all had their own flagship games but the Star Wars games on the Gamecube were the best of all the consoles of that time period.
The endurance scenario would have been much more awesome if it was based in battle of Endor scenario, just imagine going throught waves of TIE Fighters and then Star destroyers, all in a constant battle until you perish
Back in the days I was only able to play Rogue Squadron on N64 with its two different versions. What a time it was to be alive. Factor 5 and Lucas Arts were dream developers. When it came out for GameCube I was in deep hatred for Nintendo, mostly after Perfect Dark dilemma (Nintendo self-destructed internal batteries of some cartridges) so I kept procrastinating Rogue Leader to some other day, but never really played it.
when I was a wee lad, I couldnt believe the sheer size and scale of everything, it all felt so overwhelming and cool, like the wrapping of the big walker things, the VERY tight flying in the death star, and the part with darth vader, it just felt so cool
I remember all about this game. I got all gold medals (minus one my brother had to win it for me) after A LOT of playing. I used the tarjeting computer a lot until I knew where all the enemies came from and used proton torpedoes a lot too. I also got the car who had the super missiles, like the Darth Vader's tie. Lots of fond memorie, like when the first time I used an A wing in the nebula and saw its speed. Out of the world game!
Really awesome game, I played the hell outta this in my early teens. Great playthrough as well - I was never able to get gold on a few of these missions. One thing though - you missed the upgrade in the Battle of Endor! After that first star destroyer goes down (the one on the left), you can collect an upgrade by flying up into its docking bay after the ship has come to rest. Also, the mission where you steal the shuttle has two versions - a night version in the speeder, and a day version in a Y-wing. Which one you get depends on the time of day set in the Gamecube's home menu. During the night version, you can steal a TIE fighter by taking one of the offshoot valleys at the beginning. You'll come across a barracks and a lone TIE fighter nestled in the valley. Once you fly into this valley, a single pilot comes out of the barracks and runs towards his fighter. If you can shoot the pilot before he reaches the fighter, you can steal it and get perfect stealth throughout the mission until you shoot something or steal the shuttle. If you go on to complete the mission, the TIE fighter is unlocked for future missions. Obviously not a great option if you're trying for a gold medal, but a really cool feature nonetheless. Great video, thanks for the nostalgia hit!
Wow. Truth be told, I had trouble keeping the ties off me, as a Tie Fighter veteran this game plays waaaay differently. Everything moves so much faster and it gets so hectic you can't really make out what's going on. Maybe will pull it out tonight. 👍

The wait time is hefty, but when you get a match it’s so fun. Play against AI before you so to brush up . The people that still play it are no friggin joke.
