  • If you take resveratrol… did you know resveratrol works differently in your body depending on how much you take every day?
    If you’re not careful about how you take resveratrol, you may achieve completely different benefits from the ones you intended!
    I couldn’t believe it either until I saw it too. And it is one of resveratrol’s biggest secrets.
    And it’s kept within its polyphenol family. Which includes fisetin, quercetin, pterostilbene, and others.
    Today, we’ll hear Dr David Sinclair explaining a mechanism that helps to stay younger for much longer. This mechanism is critical to decipher how resveratrol works and what it does inside our bodies.
    You will clearly see what these powerful molecules do to our bodies and even to our DNA after we take them.
    We’ll answer the following questions:
    1. And if, in Sinclair’s study, the small dose resveratrol lived longer in both groups,why this sudden change of impact when going to high resveratrol?
    2. What does resveratrol do to cancer cells?
    Is resveratrol a good supplement to kill cancer?
    Let’s continue with our investigation.

      This is true. I went through an extremely stressful period in 2021 for about 6 months. My body refused to eat. (Involuntary) fasting was one of the only things that got me through this period. I did lose a lot of weight which was not my plan. I'm small person with a small frame and I did not need to lose 15 lb. But, I did feel good. The fasting helped my mind and body during this time. I've since gone back to fasting at times to find that sense of wellness I found it before.

    Once again thanks for this insight Rimon. For me (over 50 sic) my basic strategy would be to use high dose resveratrol intermittently as a senolytic. However pulsing doses may still be a useful strategy as periodically “make do and mend” would still have a place in a balanced approach to maintaining health, unless of course I need to suppress angiogenesis as part of a anti tumour therapy.
    Btw this also nicely explains why any alcohol consumption increases cancer risk, where as moderate alcohol consumption is cardio-vascular protective. Perhaps indirectly may even explain why statin statin increase cancer risk, suppression of the mevalonte pathway, forcing damaged cells to attempt repair.

    Hey, great video, this cleared things up nicely! Question: have you considered how cancer’s unregulated metabolism may impact it’s uptake of reveratrol?Maybe there is an optimal intake that has low-dose effects on regular cells but high dose effect on cancer cells?

    • @WellnessMessiah
      @WellnessMessiah  Рік тому +5

      Hi Matteo, you're very smart.
      Well, previously I showed resveratrol access via diffusion to the body. I believe that's how it accesses the cell. This means, I wouldn't expect a wide difference in uptake. However, the largest difference is indeed between tissues.
      You're right in the sense that you can get low resveratrol in certain tissues and high in others (e.g. colon is probably the highest). This means, I would go either very low (50-120 mg) or very high on resveratrol (1-2 grams) to have the effect I want, and not in between.

    Thanks for the update and advocacy for our freedom. This really hurts in your situation with your wife, and also for those of us who are older and already see benefits from NMN. If David Sinclair doesn't work against this claim by his company, he will indeed essentially destroy his own reputation as someone advocating NMN use and genuinely motivated by altruism. Ironically his own father may no longer be able to take NMN as the prescription uses tested by the company seem to be very limited. Is he that big a jerk??? Hope not...

    Question: If your theory is correct, would this also apply to NMN dosage? i.e., would lower dose NMN (< 500mg daily) be better for longevity?
    Or does taking NMN trigger a different mechanism and so it's not comparable to taking resveratrol ?

    • @WellnessMessiah
      @WellnessMessiah  Рік тому +17

      Hi Hugo, how are you? I've made my NMN research back in 2019 in my conclusion is that a lower dose WON"T be better but worse. NMN doesn't stress the DNA like resveratrol and its friends, it's more like fuel.
      However, I do need to have a fresh look & investigation and catch up on all 2020-2022 studies.

    I ve just discovered your channel. Thank you for doing the thorough research to bring us this interesting distinction in resevatrol 's effects on human cells. In the same vein, I would love to hear what you think in term of fasting on longevity and cancer. There are contradictive arguments on fasting, I wonder if fasting also works on cells differently depending on the dose ( in this case is the length of a fast), and the age of a person, given fasting also gives a stress signal to a body/ cells just like resevatrol does. Then how much can this observation be expanded to all other types of homedic stressors. After listening to this video, my speculation is that some stress is good, but not to pass a limit, that consequently push healthy cells to undergo apoptosis. So in practice, we shouldn't stack homedic stresses at one time (eg. cold stress, heat stress, fasting all in a day), rather, we should do one at a time. Love to hear your researches on these.

    • @WellnessMessiah
      @WellnessMessiah  Рік тому +3

      Excellent question Mary.
      I think the greatest difference is between intermittent fasting and long fasting.
      I think of them as two different tools. The first one is great for reducing food intake, and losing weight, and is a habit.
      The second is good for deep cleaning and is not a habit. Meaning, I do this every few months.
      So yeah, the "dose" matters here too.
      The age - IMO - not personalized advice - fasting is good at any age (unless in contradiction with drugs).
      Younger people reach autophagy quicker. Older need more time to reach the same cleaning effect.

For example, in determining if an individual should take it or not, if indeed resveratrol does cause actual damage one is forced to grapple with the question what's the collateral damage in simply making the cells last longer, and is it a payoff overall to health. I give this analogy Resveratrol is the dial on a radio allowing us to choose the radio channel, only we do not know how to tune into the correct channel i.e to damage the cell to the point of needing complete replacement, or just enough to encourage renovation of a salvageable cell(s). Furthermore, if a cell is salvaged, what errors has maintenance overlooked, considering it uneconomic.

    This is another excellent video. You're really getting into the details of resveratrol's effects at different doses.
    Right now I take a total of 225mg of resveratrol a day. 100mg is regular resveratrol in Longevinex, and the other 125mg is a highly bioavailable liposomal form. So it's less than 500mg, but the liposomal form should be more potent. We need more studies using liposomal resveratrol, it's delivery mechanism is much different and this may change how it affects cells and the body. Generally, from what I can tell, it improves the positive benefits.
    I think what needs to be determined is whether liposomal delivery pushes low dose resveratrol into the high dose category. Or if the delivery is so different it is a separate category altogether. Bypassing the GI tract likely makes a big difference.
    So I'm taking all this in, but for now I'm leaning towards sticking with what I'm doing. I'm 45, active, and healthy, unless I can see evidence that the liposomal resveratrol at this dose poses issues I'll keep taking it. But definitely something to look out for in future research.

    • @WellnessMessiah
      @WellnessMessiah  Рік тому +1

      Hi Jason, good to hear from you. You're very helpful.
      Yes, I think the greatest effect of liposomal resveratrol is accessing tissues non-liposomal can't access. Not necessarily more power. I think it is promising. I'm especially interested in resveratrol access to the inside of the white blood cells (in the blood, water = not good for resveratrol) and deep inside the brain, esp. the hypothalamus.
      Resveratrol accesses the brain, but the brain seems to not open all the doors for it. The hypothalamus. is deep in the center, maybe lipo. will reach there.
      If you see studies on liposomal resveratrol and white blood cells (not on a dish) and the hypothalamus, please let me know.
      I want your advice: Next video is about different doses of resveratrol & senescent cells.
      should I wait another week to publish it? It's pretty much a lot to digest for people. It's heavy almost like this video. What's your advice here?

      You make good points about liposomal delivery. It does allow resveratrol to reach more cells and deeper areas in the cells - I had forgotten this. And it eliminates loss from digestion. Another factor is it stays in the bloodstream longer, so it's almost like buffered or time release supplements. The net result could be low level exposure but over a greater length of time.

    Very interesting video, thanks for the literature research!
    I have one question that might interest you.
    In skincare, there is "anti-ageing" ingredient called Tretinoin, which is modified form of vitamin A.
    Over long term topical use (at least 6 months minimum), this ingredient causes thickening of epidermis, and imrpovment of ECM in dermis - collagen and fibronectin, which leads to improved wrinkles and more youthful looking skin.
    However, the treatment also increases cell turnover in epidermis, which concerns me, because I often hear (your videos included) unecessery cell replacement is not what we want.
    Despite my concern, when doing brief literature review myself, I could not find any known negative effects. I even found some papers suggesting skin cancer prevetion properties.
    I would love to hear your opinion on this. Could be good video idea since I have not seen real deep dive into this. Most skincare channels just say that it's safe and effective, and "anti-ageing" but in cosmetic sense. I want to know if this substance has real anti-ageing benefits not just appearance.
    Thanks for answering I hope this interests you.

      Hi there, I didn't know cats use creams.
      Seriously, you're a spot on the principle (I'm not familiar with Tretinoin). There is so much youthfulness we are born with, and unnecessary turnover will use up some of that. It will borrow future youthfulness for present youthful looks. Just like with credit cards.

    • @Always-xl9db
      @Always-xl9db Рік тому +1

      It seems to me that Tretinoin works in similar ways like Resveratrol - by stressing skin crlls…I started using it at 0.025% 6-8 months ago, always pulsing,
      increased to 0.05% and can already see results…will plan on getting to the highest % which is 0.1%. Then use it for a bit at that level to get maximun effect through aggressive cell turnover….after that it will probably make sense to go back to the lower % again, even to retinoids, just to extend skin cells instead of re-building and to maintain. Plz let me know what is your plan!

      Based on this investigation, I take 50-120 mg (range) resveratrol with 3 days off every week and 24+ hours before exercise.
      I will have an expansion video that will cover every aspect of timing and dosage for longevity. I promise it will be above your expectations for a lifetime habit of longevity.

    It's not too shocking, that is what hormetic effect is about. But the damage here seems to be more than with other things which trigger the same effects, such as fasting.

      Hi Nicholas, for your question
      Based on this investigation, I take 50-120 mg (range) resveratrol with 3 days off every week and 24+ hours before exercise. This is my body and not a recommendation.
      BTW the patrons of this channel (starting with $1) have access to a 2-page document on the 10 resveratrol habits you can access now with all the tiny details.
      Regarding the regimen - I'm working on a revised document on my entire supplement stack on the $10 level. It's yet to be published, when I finish I will share it with the $10 level:

      Hi Arvin, no, they are different polyphneols :) I will show in a future video how low dose resveratrol /red wine and olive oil work in synergy activating longevity genes, none can activate on its own. . But don't tell anybody just yet :)

    What about the source of the resveratrol? You mentioned quercetin but there are other sources. Most supplements use what I think was Japanese knotweed, so invasive they won't let the live plants into the country. And of course, there's red wine, especially Malbec which has the highest resveratrol content in the skins. So I wonder, which resveratrol is being used in these studies?

    • @WellnessMessiah
      @WellnessMessiah  Рік тому

      Hi Daniel in most studies they don't always tell the source, but it almost 95% Japanese knotweed. But the quality they are using is usually much higher than what you would find in the health food store. Many times, they test it multiple times before are using it. the studies costs sometimes 000,000/millions, they wouldn't take the chance

    • @dwdwone
      @dwdwone Рік тому

      @@WellnessMessiah So then many people who are taking it in supplement form may not be paralleling the studies, or am I missing something?
      Also, is quercetin really a source of resveratrol or just another polyphenol?

    I’m surprised at this video because polyphenols have been more of a hope than a reality. Resveratrol was studied rigorously for a couple of decades at least with no true benefit found. At one point the EU had to step in to ban phenol benefit claims in Europe for this very reason. Subsequent findings were incredibly small and of dubious value. Phenols are basically poisons. Creating small amounts of damage at low doses is bound to have benefits (what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger). The phenol does the damage, the body fixes it up. There are no studies showing resveratrol or other polyphenols are remotely comparable to any of the other longevity practices that have always been available to us.

    OK, so if you're older, or have a family history of cancer, you could still take low-dose resveratrol for longevity as long as you pulsed high dose resveritrol once in awhile. For example, take low dose resveratrol for 12 weeks, and then switch to high dose for 14 days. After the pulse, you could switch right back to low dose. You can have your cake and eat it too.

    Yes. Dr. Sinclair is an expert of longevity...in worms and the worms aren't talking. He will probably be getting a hair transplant and cosmetic surgery like Dr. Michael Colgan (Optimal Sports Nutrition) and claiming he has an age much younger than his chronological age. OMG...again with the Sirtuins and the happy worms. I see a Prof. Bart Kay debunking in his future.
