You are very fortunate to control your cholesterol with diet alone (for now!), but keep an eye on it. Fascinating subject. I bought David’s book 6 months ago and enjoyed reading it. There’s an awful lot of UA-cam advice, re: fasting, and And longevity. Since my wonderful wife is 50 and I’m 75 I’m looking for at least another 50 years in order to keep her company. Fortunately, I have never been overweight and I really don’t care if I eat or not so I can go for a week or two with just fasting although I realized I have to replace my electrolytes. That got me into trouble once. I try to get to the gym, at least three times a week and would prefer every day, but since I’m starting new businesses scheduling sometimes becomes difficult. In any case, I have no idea when I will be old but it’s certainly not for the next 30 or 40 years.
David Sinclair is such a generous speaker. I love how much kindness he brings to interviews. I have to admit, as many of his talks and my application of the methods I still gain a better understanding as I listen to him speak each and every time.
actually I'm doing well with the one meal a day , just on my 4th day, but going well. Drink my coffee in morning, followed by water, hot non caffeine tea and water in afternoon. Getting off my butt every hour walk around trying to get 4000 steps a day and more on days off. Whole non processed plants, fruit, egg and fish, beans. 65yo will see how it goes. but can tell fluid retention down, less joint pain already. This is for long haul. As I age in years want quality of life while I'm here. Dr. Sinclair has tapped something in me to be motivated., thank you!
He is one scientist with such humbleness. He speaks so softly and comfortably that it seems like I'm talking to someone I know. Have been following him for last one year plus and very thankful to him for what he is doing for longevity and bringing it to the general mass. Don't ever lose your next door guy image Dr Sinclair.
When I contracted Lyme disease I also had paralysis in my face as well as a bullseye rash, and I was treated like I was crazy. The initial testing came out negative so they told me there’s no way I had Lyme disease. When I finally got diagnosed after taking it into my own hands It had been 12 years. As a result I still have remaining paralysis in my face after being on antibiotics for five years in order to get it under control. It’s medieval the way they handle Lyme disease.
Sorry.. I am from Hudson valley NY. TICK HELL! So many sick people who aren't aware they have LYME. What a shame. I watched and participated in a mess of people all sick throughout their lives (me including). They have LYME disease. I was never actually diagnosed with LYME but I have been treated for Rheumatoid arthritis since age 12, migraines and even seizures. All started at a young age around the same time when we all used to play in the woods.
A close relative of mine went through the same mis- / delayed diagnosis as you did, but in the 1970's when Lyme Disease was first appearing in CT -- and this person lived within a few miles of Lyme, CT! The hospitals then had no clue what it was.
I may be not be remembering this right, but I think I saw some association between facial paralysys or Bell's Palsy and B1, or Benfotiamine. Probably on Dr. Berg's channel.

Fantastic interview. I've watched many interviews with David Sinclair and this was the best by a long mile. You've definitely got a new subscriber here!
I don't want to be harsh, but do some deeper digging on David Sinclair and you will find out he is a bit of a fraud. He had been descredited 2 times by scientific comunity. But for the sake of financial gain, he is still propagating a lot of disproven myths he imagined/reviewed.
AI stocks are currently dominating 2024. so its definitely a good buy, NVIDIA is one of the good buys because they are better placed to maintain long term growth potential, and provide a platform for other AI companies. I know someone who has made more than 200% from NVIDIA last year.
you are absolutely correct on that kasun. I bought NVIDIA around September 2022 because my financial advisor recommended it to me. She said the company is selling shovels in a gold rush. It accounted for almost 80% of my market return last year.
That's a great analogy and I love the insight. Professionals could make a really big difference in investing, and I think everyone should have one. There are aspects of market trend that is difficult for the untrained eyes to see. I've made over $675k in three years.

Great interview. It's interesting to talk about this subject, specifically aging and what the average human lifespan is, and what it could become if we only took better care of ourselves. The majority of the population, it seems, doesn't understand the impact of quality sleep, good diet, regular exercise (even 15-20 minutes a day), and sun protection on general health (and looks). I have a couple of friends who wouldn't even try to reduce their coffee intake, even though they've been experiencing major sleep disturbances for years now.
At 75 I have been practicing intermittent fasting for about 20 years. I exercise most days. Recently I started taking nmn and berberine as well as other supliments . I weigh less than I did 50 years sgo
I'm happy Sinclair admits his sleep habits are not optimal, its the same as me. Many nights i don't even sleep, i know it's bad, but this is reality. I worry too much and need to change it. But i never wear jackets, even not when its below minus 10°C and i am much younger looking than my brother and cousins who are bald grey already for years
Regarding sleep, the Yogi Sadghuru says rest is essential, but distinguishes between rest and sleep. Most people do not know how to rest without sleeping though. I have noticed that when doing certain kinds of breath work, I need less sleep.

David is such a knowledgeable and incredible aurato of the biggest event we have been told - that one day we will die! That one thing is as toxic as it gets. To walk through our lives knowing we have a finality is more then we can cope with. I follow David's advise for nearly 4 yrs now. I take NMN resveratrol and other high dose vitamins and it change my entire life. I love this man because he walks the walk and he is incredibly inspiring for me! The best way not to die is education. I'm fond of this quote ( if you want things in your life to change CHANGE things in your life ) Happy Living everyone
This was such a good podcast! Thank you for keeping it simple and letting the messenger spread the message without an exaggerated amount of ads constantly interrupting! Thank you!
It is really important to reduce stress, I take hemp oil and ashwaganda, and other healthy things, because I have ADHD and bipolar disorder, so it is really important for me to reduce stress, because I easily get really stressed more than other people, and meditation is good 👍😊
Life expectancy is the average length of life of a group of individuals. The way to increase this is to get more individuals to live longer than the current average than die sooner. One way to do this is to persuade the members of the group to eat a healthy diet in moderation and to get regular exercise. I have been watching Dr. Sinclair's interview and bought his book “Why We Age and Why We Don’t Have To” very eye-opening and educative. In there, there's no point increasing lifespan without health span. The goal should be to live longer while staying young and healthy. Sinclair believes that in the foreseeable future, it's possible for humans to live beyond 120 or even 150, without the frailty, diseases and disability we now associate with old age. I hate aging and the illnesses it brings over time. NMN Vitruvin Health is the most cost-effective brand for me.
David, I made my original comment when the talk was half over. Now that I have heard the entire episode, I want to stress again, how valuable this talk was. This was miles ahead of all the others. Thank you.
I too am super-impressed with both the interview and with David. I am motivated by hearing him say that his biological age is 20!!! (at 52). I'm sold on giving some of these "pathways" a go. Particularly NMN, RESVERATROL, and Metformin.... Really appreciated this interview. Thank you
His bio age being 20 is just him manipulating proxy markers for his age. This UA-cam comment won't be around then, but I'd bet like most of us, he won't live to see 100
Fruits and veggies are healthy when they are bright coloured/stressed, but also the poisonous ones give the same signal as a warning to stay away. Thanks for the enlightening interview.
As a society in whole we have to change our thoughts, beliefs, and communication. Learn to start loving who we are, care for our bodies, slow down breath and listen to what our body need to keep us living healthier longer lives. We are our own best doctor in life if we pay attention to our bodies, rather than living in this stressful world we created in the mind. (I have been going through a major body transformation and I have to say when I spent 40yrs living in my head rather than the whole body, my body was sick!!!!) Our bodies are frequency and when our frequency lowers in the body it creates the horrible diseases that impact the mind.
currently i stopped intermittent fasting because there is a drawback, you have difficulties to keep lean muscles. As i try to be an advanced athlete, I feel better with proteins and enough nutrients. The last thing you want is to fall and break a hip when you are old (it is like a death sentence) so i need to maintain strong muscles and reduce muscle wasting due to aging. i still adhere to midetterenian diet of course.
I heard a long time ago that the broken hip story is actually back to front. Apparently your hip gives way and *then* you fall. Reason is that the western sugar/carb diet creates an acid environment resulting in a desperate search by the body for minerals to restore the acid/alkaline balance. (to avoid acidosis) Since we are all generally deficient in minerals, the body must take them from our bones resulting in osteoporosis … ie weak bones which give way or break easily.
This was an exceptional interview. I knew less than 5 minutes in that these were two highly intelligent people. I figured the interviewer to be an engineer type. And like the doctor, I'm in far better health in my 40s than I was in my 20s and am still setting personal records when I train/exercise.
I'm grateful your interview with Dr. Sinclair pushed onto my feed. Your questions and the flow of conversation couldn't have been better. Very informative, especially for myself who is in this battle between progressing my strength-training and muscle-building (which requires generally less than a gram of protein per lb) with the desire to increase my lifespan and overall health as I age. Thanks and I'm excited to view more of your content!
Oh good lord. No wonder I'm sleeping less nowadays. I am taking NMN/Resveratrol at night right after dinner, which I didn't realize was kick starting the energy cycle in my body. My bad. I was trying to keep the OMAD clean by not eating in the morning, the yogurt that I put the NMN & resveratrol powder into, but I guess I'll have to start taking it in the morning.
For the last few months, I've been taking one tablet each day of NMN-Vitruvin Health supplement. I'm astounded to discover that my metabolism now functions as well as it did when I was a younger. Other outcomes aren't nearly as visible yet, but I saw a significant boost in energy and concentration. I'm going to order another few rounds from their website. It took around just 3-4 days to see a difference.
I've been taking nmn for 5 days now, 200 and 300 mg, but I'm not feeling much from it. I also started taking b3 Nicotinic acid with flush effects and this seems to work pretty well, the flush effects feels like when you go from sauna to ice water and back into sauna, it's so nice a feeling but not everyone likes this feeling.
Great interview, Shane. You asked excellent questions and David always does a good job of giving clear and understandable replies. Blessings to you both.
Wow! I have been following David Sinclair for a while now, but this interview was the best. Thank you Shane (? - sorry if misspelled your name) for your questions. You two are a match made in heaven and please keep conversing and do more Q&As in the future. You asked questions that make us think in a broader sense what it means to have a longer life. The impacts on society, environments, etc. I hope you two had a good time- there seemed to be a real mutual respect and synergy that came through the screen. I keep following David Sinclair's works; share this interview with my teens so we can converse more about longevity. As a mum it's my responsibility to raise them well and good foundations for health is part of that. And I subscribe to this channel without even knowing what to expect- but oh boy I enjoyed this session so much, you sold me the rest of stuff you do. Thanks for both of you your time and work and thanks for your teams behind the scenes.
Great, congrats thank you so much, it is so simple and it is right in front of our eyes that less is more! It is funny how when we discover that the obvius is genius!!! My dad went almost to 100 here in Brasil following old school life style and tips he was a Karate and runner as well, and always use to tell us eat a little bit of everything with moderation and enough to feel it up both hands together not more than your stomach can handle. And not over or too much sex, sports, work and food just make in way that you enjoy enough to have a wish to do it again! Be happy always enjoy everyday life, the mother nature, music, dance, peace and love!
But there is no evidence that long term has a negative effect. In fact there seems to be evidence it is beneficial long term as long as you get all the necessary nutrients.
I have always slept few hours even though I never do caffeine. I began taking NMN in the morning and immediately felt a jolt like caffeine. Now I can not sleep longer than 4 hours. I want more sleep.
I fasted in college but didn't realize it. Went to Duke worked 24 hours a week in Duke Hospital to help pay room and board. Sometimes realized I hadn't eaten for a day and didn't have money to eat much.
Colors are also indicators of ripeness, we like 'em because they're sweeter and bigger, but they also have different phytochemicals making those colors, for instance and I would've said more anti-oxidants before I heard Dr. Sinclair say that's an old theory.

It's actually easy to get the 3 days you have to build-up to it once you build-up to it you'll find not eating it's just somehow you realize you have so much more time because there's no cooking and dishes and stuff no time wasted at the table eating and in the 3rd day of the while I've had so much time it feels like a whole week went by. Mind you I live alone. I used to get really sick with nausea after missing one meal now I can go 3 days with no problem no side effects or anything. Just practice it you'll see how easy and you'll get there.
People in 4 out of the 5 "Blue zones" (except Loma Linda) don't have formal excercise programs. They work in their gardens and chase sheep up and down hills and they live to be 100 years old. YES it would be optimal to do all three excercise types but the key is to keep moving.
I did a 7-day hard dry fast about a year and a half ago. Next week I will be starting an 11-day soft dry fast. I totally believe in dry fasting (not water fasting) now. I'll never do another water fast again. I'm now also trying out a 16-8 hour time-restricted eating schedule. I'll see how it goes.
This and many other talks by Dr Sinclair are so interesting and inspiring. If you're seeing this dr sinclair can you tell me if you are basically consuming all your required calories intake in one go each day? If you are regularly fasting and only eat once, how do you eat possibly 1500 to 2000 or more calories on one meal or are you consuming a low calorie diet? Do you ever let yourself go when on holiday and eat local snacks ? Also curious to know if everyone eventually ends up with some insulin resistance over time?
i appreciated your honesty first of all you set you could never do 3 days of fasting but its the tine recommended by experts so as a matter of fact i done 15 days of fasting another time time 14 days of dry fasting another 3 weeks but not in a row countless 3 days i wish & encourage for you or anyone to go the first 3 days in fact are the hardest ...

me tooo haha i love to sleep.. and just lying down, resting and alone with my thoughts. my mind entertains me than my phone. its funny and beautiful and by this habit, i get know and trust myself more. it even has a function of making me orgasm (i know this sounds crazy, and i shouldnt mention this) by just lying down and letting my mind wander and the body do it thing lol.. music can make my cells tingle as well... i dk if this contributes to longevity but i just love sleeping and napping and finding sweet spots in my breathing patterns. its so relaxing. i eat once a day as well and very little because i consume little energy
Re: Adversity I pretty much have no money for the last week of each month. During and before that week, I lose motivation to exercise or do anything and feel exhausted. In the name of self preservation I deny living in poverty. But what he said about adversity might explain my experience.
It fascinates me that you and many others talking about longevity are young, 40's 50's t most. I am 80 and often wonder what you will be saying in 10 or 20 years. True I was fortunate to receive the longevity genes, I have brothers who are 84 and 85 and quite healthy too, but there must be other factors at work that you are not detecting.
The thing is, what he promotes is not mainly based on his experience, it's based on scientific research. After that he started to implement this on himself and has some anecdotal evidence, but the science is were our focus should be in my opinion.
Amazing interview! I've been following David Sinclair and this interview is the best of the many I have watched. Excellent, probing questions and thoughtful answers.
Current calory intake is close to 3600 calories. And is not sugar the main culprit. It's industrial oils 700 calories. And trying to make healthy plant food into common food, ultra processing it, is self defeating. Just eat plain bananas, apples, avocado's, all great for breakfast, greens, onions, garlic, carrots, broccoli. Plain, simple and Unprocessed. Just don't process them into cakes, etc.

Dr. Sinclair's Mom and Grandma would be very proud of him. Helpful and kind man.
@@rdallas81 From the Hudson River Valley as well. Its bittersweet living here as the Woods and Mountains are utterly magnificent yet most locals don't hike anymore due to the abundant level of ticks. As you know, half of Manhattan has moved up here since 2020 and I try to warn them as much as possible. Here in the Catskills, locals drink lemon Himalayan pink sea salt to flush out the spirochetes.

4) eating right types of food (meditarranean diet)

David is a humble and compassionate scientist...though his achievements are great. His personal traumatic experience with losing his mother shows his human side. I read his book lifespan...brilliant!
Me as well
I also subscribed. I'm trying very hard to reverse 40 year of misinformation for my own health and learning to be a better influence for my children.

I am 54 and just started those supplements as well. So glad I found this scientist!
服用了这些补剂,您感觉管用吗?
I love this: Every day make a decision to live longer. Eat healthy and exercise.

He doesn't eat! He fasts!
Professor David has been educating us in order to live happily and healthier with a purpose to serve mankind. Excellent episode. Thanks a lot.Dr.Jayanth Pathirana Attorney
I sean a dussin of Davids interviews videos but his comfortable her this is a good one.
I'm fond of this quote ( if you want things in your life to change
CHANGE things in your life ) Happy Living everyone

great interview. thank you for the time stamps, they are super valuable when wanting to zero in on topics. i wish all interviewers did this.

That's the greatest secret to living life correctly. We can take life for granted or actually start recognising this life is granted to us!
It is really important to reduce stress, I take hemp oil and ashwaganda, and other healthy things, because I have ADHD and bipolar disorder, so it is really important for me to reduce stress, because I easily get really stressed more than other people, and meditation is good 👍😊
Sinclair is full of it. The NMN debacle showed his number one priority is $$$$$. Now, I wouldn't be so critical if he didn't say the opposite here.
Wow! Thank you!
This UA-cam comment won't be around then, but I'd bet like most of us, he won't live to see 100
Love the very positive interview, looking forward to more encouraging findings by professor David
Fruits and veggies are healthy when they are bright coloured/stressed, but also the poisonous ones give the same signal as a warning to stay away. Thanks for the enlightening interview.

Truth
As a society in whole we have to change our thoughts, beliefs, and communication. Learn to start loving who we are, care for our bodies, slow down breath and listen to what our body need to keep us living healthier longer lives.
We are our own best doctor in life if we pay attention to our bodies, rather than living in this stressful world we created in the mind. (I have been going through a major body transformation and I have to say when I spent 40yrs living in my head rather than the whole body, my body was sick!!!!) Our bodies are frequency and when our frequency lowers in the body it creates the horrible diseases that impact the mind.
I love this guy...he literally is a gene...ious
currently i stopped intermittent fasting because there is a drawback, you have difficulties to keep lean muscles.
(to avoid acidosis)
Since we are all generally deficient in minerals, the body must take them from our bones resulting in osteoporosis … ie weak bones which give way or break easily.
Thank you David for the open heart and inspiration!
Oh, that's so good to hear from a Vitruvin user like you.. keep it up! 😇
I sometimes take lemon grass and Rosemary in warm water. Both from my kitchen garden.
Thank you for sharing your life! Notes taken…

This has really changed my opinion on the carnivore diet. Like steroids and drugs they make you feel good but it could have long term negatives.
Really great point!
But there is no evidence that long term has a negative effect. In fact there seems to be evidence it is beneficial long term as long as you get all the necessary nutrients.

Colors are also indicators of ripeness, we like 'em because they're sweeter and bigger, but they also have different phytochemicals making those colors, for instance and I would've said more anti-oxidants before I heard Dr. Sinclair say that's an old theory.
Hi from Mexico! This is a great video on the subject of aging, many questions and topics are addressed. thanks. We do creative content on many subjects.
I didn't know he was eating mostly a plant based diet, that's quite interesting to consider. I'm definitely gonna do it too
Do it I've been plant based no dairy for 2 yrs & feel better tban ever @ 52. Fast every day too its great. What's important about it is breaking the eating habits we've been conditioned in to.
I've been a lactic vegetarian for 53 years, so meat, no fish, no eggs, no mind altering drugs, including alcohol, pot, lsd, etc. For 53 years. Doctor was overjoyed by my recent blood test. She said just keep doing what You're doing. Also I drink plenty of water and get plenty of sleep. I am 78 years young. People are amazed because I don't look my age and I move like a 20 something. I also do Talk & Share Therapy to stay positive and not worry. I gave up smoking in my 30s. I give and receive love. I also thank GOD everyday.
Fasting - When the body has no materials for building more cells it keeps itself busy by doing house chores: cleaning, reorganizing, keeping tidy the cells that are already there, and maybe throwing out garbage cells that can't be repaired.

Well his podcast "silly hat guy" who is lovely but interrupts David often and David you actually do very well explaining what could be dense material , data well.

No one ever asks where he gets his Resveratrol and NMN from... really all I wanna know at this point!
YES it would be optimal to do all three excercise types but the key is to keep moving.

really great guy, shares so great information. interviewer is also cool. thank you both!
I'm just a guy. Who FASTs regularly.
I'm old. Do I look old?
Yes you are right Dr. Sinclair.. Aging is a disease.. We support you..Love from India 🙏 U are my hero..
Brilliant. Very greatful. Thanks

Friends would come to play and her mother said .. Florence is still sleeping... Maybe she has a lot of melatonin in her system??? By the way she will be 99 this October!! She had covid a few months ago and did well!! Actually better than me... I found the NMN and Transreservatol saved me from long covid. Wish I took it during the acute phase .. Also chaga mushroom..game changer...stops cytokine storm which happens with Covid!! Chaga also kills cancer!!

it even has a function of making me orgasm (i know this sounds crazy, and i shouldnt mention this) by just lying down and letting my mind wander and the body do it thing lol.. music can make my cells tingle as well...

Re: Adversity
I pretty much have no money for the last week of each month.
And we have octogenarians in other cultures who dont have the "ease" of western lifestyles or latest medical "treatments".
That ending blew my mind. "Every year you live you gain another year of life."
Amazing scientist!
