    Sadly, I sold my FJR at the end of the year and am now a non rider. 21 straight years of riding, and off and on riding for another 30 years before that. It's over, I'm going to miss it but it's time. Ride safely everyone.

      My dad is going through the same thing. He rode from the 60s up until recently, and we made some good memories together, but because of his eyes and reaction time, he hung it up last year (cars too). Sometimes, he still gets on my old bomber bike, and putts around the yard, but it's sad. Life definitely is what happens while you're making plans. My oldest son will be 16 next year, and someday, I'm sure it'll be me putting around the yard. Maybe try RC airplanes or cars? Might be something you could like the mechanical/engine aspects of. Just an idea. Take care.

      @@guerrillaradio9953 Thanks for the reply. Sorry you can't ride with your Dad anymore. My overall condition is good but I just can't take the heat well anymore. In Arizona, it can get hot any month of the year. I used to ride at 100 F or below, then 90 and below and now even 80 feels too hot. I just wasn't enjoying it as much and my overall stamina is not what it was. I really enjoyed long rides and a short ride to eat is of no interest to me. I do still drive just fine and I have a drone, I've actually posted some drone video and hope to have some more. Ride safely and all the best to you. Riding with your Dad then your son sounds like some wonderful memories.

    Thank you for that review. I am 59 and haven't had a bike since 2011. I am entertaining the idea of getting another one and the FJR is high on the list. Best wishes!

      I think its a good choice. My two main issues with it were seat height is a little high for my 31 inch inseam, and too many panels to take off and on for some of the service. But a great bike.

    Nice review. As a full time mechanic at 65 I still enjoy working on my own bikes whenever I can, call it diversion therapy. I just bought my first new off the floor 2018 FJR1300 a couple days ago, fantastic bike. I do see the need for the larger touring windshield at 6'2" I get a little buffeting, but not the top of your head down like someone patting you on the head, more slight turbulence from the stock shield. I was torn between the 2015 Concours or newer but I felt continually sliding forward into the tank uncomfortable and I had to reach for the bars, whereas the FJR the seat is more level and I tend to stay put, don't slide forward and the reach to the bars comfortable. I had two bikes with the Russel Daylong Saddles like yours, I found mine was a little uncomfortable new, after break in were very comfortable. The day I bought my bike I had ridden 300 miles from dealer to dealer, horrible experience, most padded the bill so badly it was embarrassing at least for me to read the list of heavily padded delivery, PDI and Dealer added markups and they were were bold about it. I Rode to Roseville Motorsports, GPS got me lost sending me to the Honda Dealer, frustrated I called the dealer 5 minutes to close, they said store is still full of people we'll be here come on down don't worry we'll take care of you. The owner gave me a review of the Concours and FJR and price options, this is after hours mind you and no one in a rush, we closed the deal, they PDI the bike on the spot, I put my much loved Kawasaki W800 Cafe on consignment and hopped on my new FJR1300, by then I was exhausted and in pain with my back, filled up with gas, hopped on the freeway for the 75-mile ride home, put on the cruise control, raised the windshield, I was in heaven what a great bike, so smooth, stable and comfortable. By the time I arrived home I was mostly rested, back pain was gone, faring proved very comfortable and my rump that died at the 150-mile mark was actually happy to see me again. Jerry thanks again for a great review I think this bike is going to be around for a long time. Marty

      Do you ever experience hand numbness on your rides? That’s the only thing that takes the comfort out of riding my ‘08 for any length of time. Still crazy about the FJR though!

    Over poured brown sauce as distracted by the aftermarket pillion back rest. What a great idea/product. I have a single helmet top box so it wouldn't suit my set up but was impressed anyway. Thanks for video.

      @@mikefisher7574 Yeah its on road bike mainly but I guess it could handle some light off road, if so I would highly consider this bike if I'm going to travel around USA Canada or Europe because roads over there are fine which makes the sport tourer bikes the more enjoyable for long distance in my opinion, however if I'm going to travel anywhere else in the world I would go with a real adventure bike :)

    Just change the oil and filters and leave the rest to the pros. Not a big deal because the oil changes on this bike couldn't be easier. The Honda goldwing is a bitch to do. I hate flat paint. Waiting for the 2020 to come out with the upgraded paint. Nice bike.

    Thoughts on the 6 speed

    • @jerrys5946
      @jerrys5946  5 років тому +2

      Its fine. But so was the 5 speed, and so was my 4 speed Triumph back in the 70's. My riding pleasure isn't really dependent on the particulars of the bike technology. At my age now, I look primarily for comfort and enjoyment in my motorcycling. I'm more interested in ergonomics and other features.

    • @alanaugust8853
      @alanaugust8853 5 років тому

      I totally agree with you! The paint appears to be ‘yelling’ for a gloss finish clear top coat that would finish the process. I am very interested in getting a new sport touring bike to replace my 2004 ST 1300 A. But I will avoid the FJR if the next model year comes with ‘flat’ paint.

    • @medpilot
