Regardless of the BMW prices, this is a far better motorcycle because it's just so reliable, has all the features you need without any gimmicks. Perfect.
I sold my 2015 Harley street glide I disliked the noise and lack of tech. I ended up buying a 2019 bmw 1250 GSA , sold that realized adventure riding. Is not my cup of tea. Now researching sport Touring. You and other reviewers checks all the boxes for me.. I like the performance and aesthetics of the Yamaha 1300 over the BMW RT and RS. Also all reviews are positive over competition. I’m sold . Thanks for the ride.
I bought a used 05 with 18000 miles on it. I feel like I stole it LOL one of the best bikes I have ever owned. But not the most I've ever paid 4 a bike
It is an awesome bike. I just got one after riding sports bikes years. I owned all Japanese and European brands and the FJR is really an outstanding bike without the BMW price.
I currently ride a Yamaha Super Tenere, but it doesn't have cruise control. I'm now looking at touring bikes. I'm gonna take another look at the 2021 FJR asap....👍😺
Dan answered so many questions I have about a Gen 3 FJR1300. Most importantly, for a big, tall man; is the FJR a comfortable fit? He covers so much info in 5 minutes. Forums I read on is that the Gen 3 is a better choice because it is a 6 speed. I had a GS550 Suzuki, and it had a 6 speed and I loved that bike. I am liking that the FJR is a reliable bike as well. Let me know if there is still a ticking valve train or risk of engine problems due to the valve train. I would keep valve adjustments no more than 205000-mile intervals.
Good review... I rode a 250 Honda for 3 years, and bought a Ninja 650 6 months ago. I'm pretty happy with it, overall, but I started looking at baggers for two up trips. I rode some new softail HDs, then tried a Road King and Street Glide, but I felt like I would be giving up everything I love about riding in exchange for comfort. Then I started looking at sport tourers, and I absolutely loved the FJR. I still need to ride a few others for comparison, but it might be the bike I'm looking for. I'm heading back to Daytona Tuesday to ride some BMWs, then I want to ride a Versys 1000 and Ninja 1000. Insurance cost will factor into my final decision, but it won't keep me from buying a bike that's just really right for me. If I'm not as thrilled by any of the others as I was with the FJR, I'm going to buy it. If any of the others is close, then costs of purchase and ownership will be determining factors.
+Michael Lovell Sorry for the late response I was racing this last weekend and UA-cam doesn't have a away sign lol. For sure any sport tour bike is going to give more than a HD. I really love the FJR it's a great bike so are BMW too. Whatever you decide on have fun and enjoy the ride !
I'm a big guy like you , and this bike handles the weight like it's nothing. My girlfriend is a big tittied thicker chick, and we cruise around on the FJR with ease. I prefer riding the FJR two-up versus riding two-up on my 99 HD Dyna Super Glide. The Harley doesn't handle the weight as well and rides markedly different when riding two-up. The FJR takes it like a champ.
Howard Cole The FJR is a awesome bike ! Even on the track too. I totally understand about handling of the HD it's not the same and the FJR has a strong engine.
My one and only complaint is the high frequency vibe I get through the handlebars. I added 16 ounce bar ends and grip puppies, which did help somewhat, but I still get a bit of hand numbness, particularly in the throttle hand. I found, though, that I can slide my hand back a bit so that the palm side of my knuckles rests on the grip, and it lessens the paresthesia in the radial nerve that innervates the thumb and first two fingers. I'm 52 and have been riding since I was 17. SO I likely have a little carpal tunnel syndrome adding to this issue !!
Howard Cole I am not sure if you can adjust the bars angle to give you some more relief and be more neutral hand position. Egos is so important on a motorcycle especially on long rides. Sorry to hear about the throttle hand.
Great video. Good camera position. I just got a new 17 FJR. I just love the ride every time. Very comfy, great position, smooth motor and smooth shifting. All the comfort options are perfect. I am 6'4"/200 lbs. Perfect for me. I had an Honda XX, Kawa and the Yamaha is by far the best so far. Just simply put, the made just the right bike all around for an average rider. Going to ride on it for a longgggggg time.
Al Petel That's awesome I love the FJR so much and want one in my garage like right now. It's a truly great motorcycle. Congratulations on your new 2017 FJR.Keep in touch and let me know how you like the bike after the honeymoon stage ? Thanks for watching.
E.S. Slc , No,I have not. I was looking at a new Kawasaki C, but after riding one, I felt it is too fast and no updates was done to it in years. It is a good machine with good reviews. For a tall guy like me, the FJR was by far a winner! !!. It is just ment for a nice touring ride with a slight sport in it.
I picked up an 09, I only have two complaints. The mirrors, i have to tuck in my elbow to look behind me. And the seat is awful, had to put a sheepskin down. Other than that it is perfect for me.
I have owned a 2013 FJR1300A since hoping off my 2010 FZ1. I live mine. Every time I consider another bike The ride home 🏡 changes my mind. It is great in all aspects. My advice would be to look for a non current inventory bike you sane some bucks unless you have to have latest and greatest.
Daniel weatherford Yeah this bike is a road eater. I still love this bike one day. Probably later in life. Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comment. I don't need the latest or the greatest just a good bike.
Great review! I've owned many bikes my last two being RC51 & ZX11. It's time to get the wife involved, how is it for 2 up riding? I'll be commuting and light to med touring. I've checked out multiple HD's & Indians...just not my thing. Also looked at the new K1600B & really liked it.....but $26000 is a tough pill to swallow. Thx again for the review & input.
Thanks for watching ! This bike should double up no problem it's engine is super smooth plus powerful. The hard bags are nice. This is a great touring bike. I totally understand about HD it's not my thing either. I would recommend have your sit on the bike and see if she's comfortable if so your good to go. The main thing is to have a back support for the passenger. Since your a sport bike rider it's not a big deal for you. Trust me the ladies will want a back rest sooner or later. The hard bags should help with that. My two cents make sure she's comfortable. PS RC 51 awesome bike.
Looks like a nice bike! I love your camera angle buddy. Cool video, I enjoyed as always :) I didn't know you were 6'3! I'm 6'2 haha! I can't believe you're taller than me!
MrCaptainCrazy This bike is very comfortable and the seating position is great. Plus it's fast too. I am thinking about getting a used one later this year because I love this bike and it will do everything I need and more.
Awesome review btw. sounds like you really enjoyed the FJR. How well balanced did it feel. Top Heavy? or did it feel like the centre of gravity was well placed.
I really like that bike bro. May change me from my Harley lol. No not really lol. I think you should try to ride the new Harley's though with Milwaukee 8 motor. Would love to see you do a video on that and get your feedback. Peace out bro and another great video!!!
Motorcycle Matt Thanks brother and if I can go test ride the new HD I will for sure. I don't mind riding any motorcycle. I truly love this bike and would want this bike in my garage right now. I was really impressed with this bike. It was so much fun to ride and a joy to shift. The bike is fast too it can do 150 mph this bike can be tracked easily. I will try to test ride a new HD to see if they have improved.
I didn't get a chance to. Last year I raced my R3 and became a northern California champion. I did get hurt helping a friend move a air compressor and I am unable to ride my back is hurt. This is still one of my favorite bikes. Glad you enjoy this awesome tourer
Everybody has a different flavour. I'm not a huge fan of Harley's, I like Indian better. I do enter every contest to win one though because I just want one but I will spend my own money on a style more of my taste. I like the taste of performance. the DIGITAL TACHS are a huge breaking point for me. I would not buy a bike almost just because of that so long I had a choice of a same class bike that has a needle tach. I like knowing exactly what RPM's are at any given moment. the bar is the dumbest thing they could have ever done to motorcycles. I love digital speedo but the tach they can shove up their asses lol.
MotoBike Mike Agreed the Indians motorcycles are awesome and would want one. This bike is fast and has the ability to reach 150 mph. Which is nuts for a bike like this.
Regardless of the BMW prices, this is a far better motorcycle because it's just so reliable, has all the features you need without any gimmicks. Perfect.
is garbage..mmw..trash 😂😂😂😂
I own now a gsxf 750 katana its a great sport tourer and i hope in a few years i will buy a fjr watched many reviews and like the looks

E.S. Slc I totally agree and as soon I get my credit together this bike will be mine.
The FJR is a Great Bike, fast but agile. Best of both worlds.
Mark Mitchell It is! I love this bike.
I currently ride a Yamaha Super Tenere, but it doesn't have cruise control. I'm now looking at touring bikes. I'm gonna take another look at the 2021 FJR asap....👍😺
Did you get the FJR ?
Good review. I bought an '04 and love it!
DZL I am saving to buy a fjr used this winter and turn my R3 into a track and fun bike.

Great rider impression .. i love mine..
I know the video was filmed 2017. Now please tell me the year and model of the FJR 1300. Thank.
Good review said what you thought plainly and clearly. Well done nice bike a real tourer not a show pony
+Michelle Roberts Thank you! The FJR is a amazing Motorcycle and I hope to give a different review.

Rhino Dan , thanks boss. I will. Looking fwd for a great next summer on it. Here in Jersey can get very cold soon.
Al Petel Yeah riding in the cold sucks in multiple ways. Plus the cold gear more gear to buy and own.
Have you had a Kawasaki Concours, and if yes how does it compare? Thank you and stay safe.
E.S. Slc , No,I have not. I was looking at a new Kawasaki C, but after riding one, I felt it is too fast and no updates was done to it in years. It is a good machine with good reviews. Great job here. Enjoyed. Keep up man. :)
Thank you for the positive feedback !

lol nice !
Looks like a nice bike! I love your camera angle buddy. Cool video, I enjoyed as always :) I didn't know you were 6'3! I'm 6'2 haha! I can't believe you're taller than me!
on2purpose Yep a big man that I am. I just talked soft spoken lol.
on2purpose You are a tall guy too 6 2 is a good height.
I am considering this bike. I agree with your assessment of Harleys. They are not for me now either.
MrCaptainCrazy This bike is very comfortable and the seating position is great. Plus it's fast too.

MotoBike Mike The bike felt very well balanced for me. Easy to ride around town and fast 0 to 60.
A excellent motorcycle.
How do you DRIVE a bike? I thought you RIDE a bike.
Lol That is 100 percent true a slip of the tongue while doing an unscripted review.
Actually a passenger would be riding, You would be the "Operator".
I really like that bike bro. May change me from my Harley lol. No not really lol. I think you should try to ride the new Harley's though with Milwaukee 8 motor. Would love to see you do a video on that and get your feedback. Peace out bro and another great video!!!

Rhino Dan What's the price in that bike?
Motorcycle Matt 16k new with Abs different modes for the rain and for the track. this bike came with hard bags.
Rhino Dan I was figuring on about 10,000-12,000. That's a bit much for that I think.
Motorcycle Matt I understand. It's the personal preference I have friends that own 30k HD and I don't think those bikes are worth it my friends do.
Did you ever get your FJR I bought an 2005 with 17,000 miles on it it's f****** awesome
I didn't get a chance to. Last year I raced my R3 and became a northern California champion.
I did get hurt helping a friend move a air compressor and I am unable to ride my back is hurt. This is still one of my favorite bikes.
Glad you enjoy this awesome tourer
Great great video!!!
vulture vautour Thank you for the support.
Ride a 08 still runs like bran new easy to ride handle like a dream n FAST
Awesome logo btw ;)
vulture vautour Thank you.
Hello!
The best model as a Yamaha tourer!
Very fun bike.
You got a nice motorcycle.
You made a good review.
Thank you my friend (^ ^) /
Skywave400LTDABS Thank you my friend. I agree this is a great tour bike.
(^_^)v
This motorcycle is scarily fast, but it has one major problem, the seat is too wide and nothing can be done about it.
Super fast ! Unfortunately if you're a smaller or skinny person can be not that comfortable.
You weigh 300 lbs and ride an R3?? Dude!
John Jones Sure do and going to race the R3 this year too. Been to 5 track days with the R3 it's a great little bike.
John Jones I love my R3
I agree that it's a great bike. Just can't imagine that the power is anywhere near enough for you.
John Jones ua-cam.com/video/d1F9rQAFSl4/v-deo.html
