Very nice just bought the instructions and the parts, super fun to build and very strong and holds up to play even stronger than the official lego set. Perfect scale with my official tie bomber too and looks nice next to it
That’s awesome to hear! You ordered and built it quite fast, thank you for sharing. Glad to hear the build was fun, I know it’s a lot of twisting and turning to place the bricks around the hatch.
I’ve tried my hand at a TIE at this scale with this wind screen and ended up having to nix the hatch and make some serious compromises on engine. The fact that you managed to squeeze all these features into such a small space blows my mind. Can’t wait to put mine together and see how you did it. I’m 100% with you that this is the minifigure scale that feels right.
Ya I am shocked I didn’t have to compromise the hatch opening, for a while I didn’t know how to make it strong yet functional until I found the wheelbase as a solution
Dude, I didn’t think such a good-looking TIE was even possible at this scale. Definitely thinking I’ll get the instructions for this one as I know I have 90% of the parts already
Dude. I feel like you are "new" into getting this channel going and "new" as a name in the custom MOC Star Wars Lego world, but have cranked out the best TIE with regards to shape, proportions, and functionality. I can't tell you how exciting your work is in the custom space. This little guy is going to be in a display in my office for sure.
I'm glad I've found your videos. Play scale is where Lego shines if you ask me and all your Mocs are spot on! As much as a love classic Star Wars I would love it if you applied your talent to a Dune Ornithopter. Dune 2 really blew me away and obviously the books were a big inspiration for Star Wars.
sitting here looking at my 75300 feels like i have to do this. looks so good. my favorite build of yours so far. i love how you're able to add so much detail while still scaling down
I tried for so long to make a Tie fighter with an opening hatch and see-through canopy but could never make it work. This is incredible! Perfect size, and durable too!
Thank you, haha, well I do prefer not to live in Denmark for one. Plus, I doubt I would have the freedom I have now, working on any ship I want, not worrying about price and piece count for marketing purposes
8:10 "I don't think anybody else has been able to do this" ...Not to brag, but I did. I only posted my design to reddit once though. Not trying to do self promotion though, your hatch-mechanism looks much sleeker and your model seems more sturdy. I didn't want to compromise on the rear window, so mine is even more flimsy than your model. This is really great work!
Ya it’s so hard to say what’s been done and if anything is new by this point. There’s a chance I may have seen yours on Reddit and been inspired to make mine. There’s so many designs I see and I forget but I am sure I subliminally keep a memory in my mind of things I want to design
What you did to this set is amazing, but I do have to point one thing out. If we assume that lego minifigures were to have the average human height, which is 1.75 meters, and then factor in that the official height for TIE Fighters is 8.8 meters, that would make a LEGO TIE Fighter a little over five minufigures tall. This TIE set however is only 4 minifigures tall, so it is NOT an accurate scale. The 2018 TIE Fighter however captured that scale perfectly, as it is roughly 5 minifigs tall.
How are you coming up with 3.5 minifigures in height? A minifigure is 1.6” and this is 7.25” tall which is 4.5 minifigures (slightly shorter). And the 2018 tie is 9” which makes it slightly too tall at 5.5 minifigure height
@@BAUFmanBricks once again, a TIE Fighter is stated in canon to be 8.8 meters tall. Average human height is 1.75 meters. If you take 8.8 and divide it by 1.75, you get 5.02. The 2018 TIE Fighter is little over 5 minifigures tall, while the 2021 model is almost exactly 4 minifigures tall. This would put the 2018 TIE at pretty much exact minifigure scale. Meanwhile if we were to scale up the 2021 TIE Fighter to humans, it would be only 7 meters tall, which is 20% smaller than the established height for a TIE/LN. Hope this helps!
Amazing MOC. I'm currently working on my own millennium falcon inspired by your design but after that, I am going to build your tie and x-wing as they are truly great.

@@BAUFmanBricks Absolutely! I am currently collecting parts I'll need, and by the end of the year, it should be finished :D ! It's my first large scale MOC and I am so excited for it!

thank you! I have had a lot of requests for prequels sets. I am currently focussed on OT ships as they are my favorites, but I expect to eventually hit the prequel era too. With the recent rumors of sets to come in 2025 I may even find sooner opportunities to modify prequel ships
Very cool. I've been hoping someone would do this exact thing! That TIE set's cockpit was really boxy, like a cube with slightly round sides more than a ball. I'm impressed that you're able to fit in all the details you did, with the functions included too! I've also done a mod on that set, I rebuilt mine into a TIE Interceptor though. Might be a slightly bigger scale, but it's swooshable! I only really worry about scale on microscale builds.
Exactly what I‘m looking for! Just got all the bricks and will do the build this weekend. I‘m excited! Your blue leader xwing has already been a lot of fun and is now one of the favourite toys of my 4-year old. Can you also do Vaders Tie advanced?
Thank you, so cool to hear this! I definitely plan on visiting the Tie ship line again and the Interceptor and Advanced are very likely to come in the future
Imo if the pilot isn’t exposed like on a small walker I think smaller size is better. Scale accuracy is secondary to usability imo. And minifigs are weirdly proportioned lol. But anyways i reeeaallly liked this build. I hope to eventually sort my legos this year and try this with my tie tighter and extra pieces.
I think I will definitely revisit the Tie design for another variant. The Outlander would be awesome but man I would need to come up with some crazy way to build that wing folding feature on top of a spindly connection point. I don’t think it’s currently possible without serious compromise to the design
I am a Fan! Love how you improved in the shortcomings from Inthert’s design and TWP’s designs. Not to roast my friends but this hatch design you cooked up here is very excellent! ❤
Thank you! To their defense, my Tie uses multiple new pieces that only make it possible now. Two years ago I wouldn’t have been able to do this because one piece I know didn’t exist
Love it. absolutely nailed the cockpit look. Personally, I went for a larger variant in my moc, but if I had your solutions, especially the actually downright ingenious speedchampions wheelbase as backbone, I would have went with yours 4 years ago and it would not have exploded my intended budget for my display piece haha. The one thing I don't consider perfect on yours is that the wing angle is just wrong. It has the correct "look" from what we see in the scenes, but the wings of the actual prop models have a much more shallow angle and this is best captured with 2x4 wedge plates, which would however increase the wing height by I think 2 or 4 studs and make problems with the light grey frame. Other than that 9.9/10. And let your kids play with them :P They will be careful, and if not, Lego can always be reassembled
Oh I’ll let my kids play with them haha, but they are too young and clumsy at the moment. I keep having to pickup and reassemble the Lego ATAT. I didn’t do much research into the wings because I already liked Lego’s design and size, but also it makes this MOC very approachable and attractive to builders who already have the pieces. It was the one aspect of the set I wanted to keep. I’ll have to take a look at the prop models tho

Great job! So clean, I love it! Would it be possible to use a pair of 1x1 bricks (modified with technic axle holes) and use a pair of parallel axels rather than 1?
So it currently uses two axels, not one. But the two axles go into the wheel frame with axle holes. You could potentially use 1x1 bricks but it would require a strong build ti keep the weight of the wings from pulling them apart
They are “playscale” and do vary in scale, but much more consistent than what Lego has produced. Smaller ships don’t outsize larger ones. But the larger a ship gets the more if goes down in scale.
