To put it into Mr. Noir’s words. KDS9 with the rail is the girl you want to take home for the night and show off to your boys, and the KDS9 without the rail is the one you want to take home to meet mom and settle down with for the rest of your life.
@ZLwh1ne no such thing as an actual 2011, that's a trademark of STI. Just a word people use when referring to modern 1911s .as per kimber and there website this is a modern 1911
I’m a “no rail” fan. Always carry a great flashlight and have trained for years to use one with and without a weapon. Makes it easier to holster/conceal too.
See that’s what I’m sayin. My real question is….. what’s the most reliable 9mm… who makes the most reliable.45?! I want reliability over anything cuz I might die otherwise
I don't understand the light on the gun. Maybe a laser for acquiring your target at night. I heard or read somewhere that the perp will shoot at your light. Makes sense if that is all they see. If that is true, and you hold your gun in front of you then you stand a greater chance of getting hit.
@@stilife1942there are a lot of great reliable choices out there. If you’re new to firearms, I recommend going with one that is pretty well known (easier to holster that way), fits your hands/lifestyle, and that you’ll enjoy training with the most. Through training, you’ll learn that what needs to be relied on most is yourself. Grow your mindset! Sorry for the indirect answer. Firearms, musical instruments, tools, sports gear, etc. rely more on mastery of the person than the implement itself.
Purely referring to aesthetics , the silhouette without the rail is more pleasing to my eyes . When it comes to the rail , Now you’re adding another level of usability while maintaining its eye appeal . They’re both really nice in different ways 😅
How is it, i too agree that kimber makes really beautiful handguns, but is the brand that most people whine the most because of jams!!!!!???? I like this one.
@PedroGarcia-ob5yw I continue to love mine. It has never jammed on me. My only personal thing i didn't like was the ridges on the trigger shoe. Polished it with dremel and fixed it.
I got the KDS9C a few weeks ago and absolutely love it. The competition trigger is crisp, and it cycles perfectly. I live in Arizona, so I was able to get the high capacity magazines. Between the KDS9C and Kimber micro 9 I'm all set.
They have dope 1911 also you can customize in different calibers. I am ordering a royal blue and black one almost 2 grand but it's my suit gun when I wanna be classy lol. Other than that it's in the safe and ill stick to my 10 mm xdm or glock 20 but I prefer the xdm but you gotta get the grips covered, I hate the factory grips on the xdm.
I think the one without the rail looks better good looking lines, but the one with the rail makes more sense for home defense. My EDC is a Kimber Ultra Carry2 no rail, but when I get home it gets put up and my home defense guns all have lights because I don’t think you should ever shoot into darkness without seeing your target.
I like them both. The one with the rail has more of a tactical look and the one without the rail has a more classical look, there both very nice looking firearms to me.
If you don’t have to choose, then don’t. Buy em both. I like the fudd edition in all black. Looks nice and sleek and smooth for daytime use, and I like the new one. I’m definitely a sucker for a rail on a gun you’re gonna carry at night, as everyone should be. I just wish they had given it a full length rail, like the old TLE/RL II 👍🏻👍🏻
I remember when I initially saw the KDS9c, my first thought was “Wow, looks like a more affordable version of the Wilson Combat EDC X9” Second thought was, “I wish it had a rail.” Now I would really like to get my hands on one.
Pistol lights on your edc is a bit much overrated. When's the last time a citizen needed a weapon light? Hand held flashlights are a better choice for concealed carriers. Also they should have put the grip safety on it to so it was true to form
Rails are useless, outside of cops, SWAT teams, and the military. Weapons mounted lights (and lasers) have no business outside of cops, SWAT Team members, and the military. By FAR folks get NO TRAINING as to how to use a light properly. They get there "training" from watching SWAT, FBI, Law & Order, etc. That is LITERALLY 100% WRONG! You NEVER want a light turned on steady. What you want is a flash of about one nano-second. That's it. If it's on steady, A. You are sweeping everybody with your weapon--wife, children, etc. B. You are telling the bad guy WHERE to shoot! What is MUCH better, is a strong EDC light carried in the off hand. I am old school, and use the FBI/Harries technique, but there are others. This requires strong-hand only shooting skills. With your other hand, you may be moving innocent people to safety, fighting off an attacker, dog, etc, and don't have both hands available to shoot with. Check out the recent videos from Wilson Combat with Ken Hackathorn and Paul Howe, or those by my friend Mas Ayoob. Good advice. Yeah you flash the room and burn the image in your eyes…you’d actually be surprised that a lot of people know about that concept. I do agree with you though. Training should always be a priority after purchasing new gear. Especially a light. Weapon mounted or handheld.
Your "Barbecue Gun" comment was hilarious. And SO TRUE. I literally bought my Kimber Pro Carry simply because it was pretty! And I definitely would carry it at a barbecue. Come to think of it. That is the only gun I ever put replacement grips on...
When I bought my Stainless II in 10mm, I had the option to get the one with the rail, but being my first 1911 pistol, for me the more classic look was more appealing. It has rosewood grips and I polished the sides of the slide to mirror finish, so it looks sexy AF.
Happily in the “Fudd” camp with my stainless kds9c. The two tone is gorgeous and 18rd mags are a great touch just wish they shipped with mine. Now if only optics plates and 18 round mags are in stock…
OK Sir, a quick & simple question for you. I'm on the verge of replacing / upgrading my Car Pistol (not carry). After much research, down to two options. This KDS9c Rail? Or Sig P229 Legion SAO?
I'm a fudd, too. Simple is elegant.....think "Lady-in-Red", "Roman Arches", "the 4-seam-100-MPH FastBall"... nothing fancy....." no bells & whistles". Just pure and accurate! What a gun should be :)
I miss the grip safety. Nice gun especially as a double stack. This gives you most options people want double stack, red dot cut, light rail. Thanks for the review.
Firearm companies hold the optics cut and rail release till the end of the year or beginning of next we can sell two guns that away Gotta love the double dip method
Its a bad strategy. We live in an instant gratification world in a competative market. Its best to capture all the sales today instead of hoping your milk lasts until tomorrow. I completely agree
They’re just guns, you nerds
i'd agree but i like it even without using the rail. i like the look. im no gen z. but i think with the work looks nice
Without
I do love the clean look if the dust cover without the rail.
It's great to see a company actively responding to feedback and improving their products
That 2 tone just pops...
No rail in the two tone would be my choice.! But they are both beautiful guns. I would probaly take one of each.
I love the rail on pistols for extra stuff, but for CCW I prefer no light attachment.
I Love them both. But I side with Peter, I love the classiness of that solid black without the rail. And I was waiting for the rail too🤷♂️
Since my wife bought me my first 1911 Kimber, for an anniversary gift I loved it! I have to say I like both of them!
Huge fan of railed 1911, all it needs is TB. I’m glad to see large companies jumping on the double stack market
I understand you're making a statement of reference . But to my understanding this gun is a 2011. 🤙
It's a 1911, but a TB on a carry gun, that I don't get...💯 👍🏼

That rail with the two tone and the extended base plate, ooowwweee that is definitely a sexy looking gun. Kudos to Kimber on the upgrades.
love the two tone of the rail with the red dot.
Without rail if you are going to carry it. However for a nightstand gun at home or range with rail. (both should be optic ready)
I'm with you Pete The less stuff on my firearm I find it a lot easier to conceal but I do like red dots for fast target shooting.
2A forever

The price jump is insane between the non-rail and the railed one. Not sure why it jumps so high but damn.
Agree
How much?
$500 for the rail
I recently got one without rail in silver. Love it.
