Does anyone remember the days when you could wallbang with Panam's Sniper Rifle? Those were the really OP days. Clearing out entire bases with Ping and Overwatch.
@@AndrewAung123 lol why is that?
@@AndrewAung123 nu uh
Johnny’s handgun also had that ability. Too bad that’s also gone.
Lol i didn't know that's not a thing anymore. (I've planned to use it)
It was amazing!!! Unfortunately they fixed it hahaha
I love the Osprey but it's not really a sniper rifle it’s basically the best precision rifle in the game, and everything about it rewards hipfiring with it. It can be crazy with deadeye and good hipfire aim.
Is it good at taking down Max Tac tho?
reasonably@@maskedman5657
Is this gun a "big gun" easter egg from Ghost in the Shell anime?
IS IT GOOD THO?! IS IT ENJOYABLE TO USE?
@@zen4ever3 its ok to clear out large enemies but it is overkill for close quarters.
No gun has been stealthily at the top since launch like the Breakthrough. Been using it since the early days and have never found a better gun that didn't end up nerfed. Most other guns have been on a carousel of ups and downs with every patch but this slept on monster has been consistent throughout.
The Ying Long hasn't been changed much either
My first time hearing about it
@@maskedman5657 I completely forgot about the Yinglong since I don't use smart guns much, you're absolutely right. Another god tier gun for the longest time.
@@ricardolionheart8504 The gun is BEYOND OP
How do you get it to see through walls?
As a Netrunner, Ashura is probably my favourite, especially with the perk that regens RAM on smart weapon kills, since it's a one-hit-kill on most regular enemies
This gun is so unbelievably broken. No aim no skill. Just carnage
Yeah, with iconic Reboot Optics it's nuts.
Using the Yasha in my current run. With Reboot Optics, Headhopper and the needed Int and Cool skills it's absurdly powerful. Very satisfying to use!
@@alexpkeaton4471 why reboot optics?
@@maskedman5657+15% headshot damage
Even though it ended up in second place i love the feel of Rasetsu. It has a cool design and theres something so satisfying about using it with bolt and watching multiple enemies drop from a single shot
I love that all your builds have Air Dash. It's just downright fantastic for getting around Night City.
Why does everyone love it so much? You already can move ridiculously fast with dashjump (even without dash unlocked), all it does is allows you to change direction in midair
@@Slyzor1 It also allows you to jump over larger horizontal gaps. Combine it with a well-timed double jump and you can get moving fast enough to outrun a car in many situations. Sprint into a jump, air dash, then double jump, it works so well that the only driving I've done in Dogtown is when I was required to for story missions.
@@eldibs Oh yeah, big fan of the jump-dash-jump (except when going on a slight downhill road...you can actually go so far you get damaged on the landing), but the Type-66 Javelina is also such a beast of a car...I never expected to enjoy simple point-to-point driving in a non-driving game so much, but I've lost count of how many times for even just a mid-long range run that instead of fast travel I summon that car, put the radio on a good station and just let rip...
@@Kiljaedenas Oh yeah, for sure. I don't know how or why, but the driving in this game is delightful, it's just that Dogtown is cramped, so it's a lot harder to cut loose with a nice car.
@@eldibs Fully agree...Dogtown is basically one giant dumpster in city form, what a mess...the only time I ever drove in there on purpose was for those car theft gigs from El Capitaine.
I am a massive fan of the Ashura but a lot of that is due to look. The reload while not ideal in heavy combat actually sells it to me. The round you load is massive which makes it feel more powerful then it might actually be and the classic bolt action operation on a super hi-tech weapon is just appealing. Obviously this is style over substance, but style still has some value.
Try pairing Ashura with Microgenerator cyberware for some more grueling electric carnage.
@@fenixfyrehart3191 great idea. Will have to give it a... shot :)
Breakthrough is the undeniable king of this category. Absolutel BUSTED confluence of Tech perks, built in perks, and gear like Oracle which lets you see through goddamn walls.
Idk. Wallpuncher is almost too good to give up, base neko is probably better
@@RicochetForce wall puncher is a +200% damage buff and an armor pen buff. Does break through still beat that out?
It just seems weird there isn’t like a true silenced sniper.
Overwatch
Vanilla Overwatch was way scarier and could also, before its first major nerf, shoot through walls like a normal Grad (which has also since lost that ability).
I don't agree with the decision, but it's clear between the targeted nerfs to the gun (and also the mission Rasetsu losing its silencer), that CDPR was afraid of a scenario where one weapon type is the designated easy mode without some sort of drawback. (Pistols debatably are said easy mode, but at least they have range limitations... kind of.)
Pistols and overwatch were so ridiculously op but they've both been nerfed hard
@Harry-fy3te Pride is still disgustingly good. It might be the best gun in the game.
@@DemonLordSparda yeah true
Another great video, as always.
Breakthrough is just a different kind of beast.
The osprey is based on the shoulder mounted prototype Barrett M82 mixed with some parts of the GM6 lynx bullpup rifle
I knew it!!
Well, suspected… really, but still!
The whole idea of that bullpup barret prototype was that the gun would've been mainly used against low flying helicopters. Having about the same weight balance and ergonomics as a rocket launcher it would've been a lot easier and more comfortable to aim it at high angles.
@@releasethekraken5039 yeah I knew the downsides of it is that the damn US Government didn't adopted them and told Barrett "oh shit we're really sorry we weren't adopting these"
@@releasethekraken5039 Perfect for taking down AVs…
@@AndorRadnai they've seen Brandon Herrera's video and modeled it and then redesigned it to the cyberpunk theme
Ben waiting for this one! Thanks Sam!!
Been eager for this one! Thanks Sam!
I would not be surprised if this man's logged hours on this game is in the thousands because of his dedication to the game.
Love these lists. Thanks for all your effort
Yes!! I've been eagerly awaiting this list 🎉🥳
Perfect timing, I was just watching your pre-1.6 snipers vid and was wondering what you think of the Rasetsu and the other PL sniper rifles
Great vid like always!
Great content as always!!! Keep it up choomba!!!!
Really surprised the O'Five is ranked so low, personally one of my favourite weapons in the game.
Same I’ve never put it off my slot
Fully upgraded as well it’s a power house
About your sandevistan comment with the osprey, yes absolutely the sandevistan makes the osprey so good to run since the triple burst can deal massive damage to skull enemies if you hit them in the head with each shot. I just did don't fear the reaper on very hard with it and it absolutely helped when clearing out the mass amounts of enemies with high health.
I can't wait for the SMG video! Keep it up!
Not a fan of the Chrome Compressor with Snipers. A Sandy that you can juggle on and off is the way to go for quick shots that need to hit particularly for the slow to reload and slow to fire snipers. Also in practicality, you will probably be using a pistol as a backup due to the tree so it helps there too.
Edit: I'm pretty sure I was able to craft Nekomatas.
Honestly, a skill issue
Yeah a Sandy is the best imo
nekomatas are a common crafting spec in weapon shops
or you can just get the spec for breakthrough....
I'm not a fan of the compressor in general. Sandevistan and Cyberdecks are just too powerful. Berserk is alright, but with Chitin and Peripheral Inverse, I find it unnecessary.
@@DemonLordSparda More importantly, they are more versatile. For example sneaking is near impossible without them because there is always going to be that one guy you can't get past otherwise.
Excellent ranking, thank you Sam, 👍👍👍
Thanks John, always nice to see you enjoying the rankings!
I've got a stealth/ hacking build, so I'm pretty much using the Overwatch only because it's the only silenced sniper rifle I'm aware of. I'm surprised it's ranked so low because it obliterates most enemies with one shot, although I'm on Hard, not Very Hard for my first run through this game and the DLC. I'll have to try other rifles with a different build.
Great vid dude
You can indeed craft the Nekomata. It was one of the first crafting specs I got, actually, though I don't recall where...
you just get it from the beginning. it was the gun i crafted for leveling tech + gettin most money, before 2.0
Prior to 2.0 you got the crafting spec for the Nekomata when you leveled up your tech/crafting (IIRC it was when you gained the ability to craft Legendaries), but I have not been able to find the crafting spec anywhere in 2.0/2.1/PL
I recently looted the nekomata crafting spec off of one of the suspected criminal organized activity wraith bosses in the badlands. That might be the new place to get it.
I've never got around to doing a dedicated sniper build as of yet so my favorite has been Breakthrough. It's a solid sniper rifle that you can get early on without needing to jump through any hoops making it perfect for use until I've invested more into perks of a specific weapon type.
Nice video. Tech weapon ranked next?
Overwatch pure sentimental reasons
Also I like the Millitech scope
Overwatch is also underrated here because of the generalist build used, even though you don't need that much armor as a sniper to run Chrome Compressor. With Reboot Optics, it can down level 60 skull enemies in a single shot. Especially with the iconic hack increasing the damage bonus to +30%.
Although for groups of two where one is a skull enemy I usually just use System Collapse on one and snipe the weaker one simultaneously to not trigger detection.
It might not be the best weapon if you could only carry one, but with three weapon slots, it's the only weapon I always kept around since I got it in my playthrough because it can fill a certain niche almost exclusively.
16:42 - Nekomata is craftable, although I have no idea where I picked up the spec for it.
(Also, referring back to your other video - I got weapon mod "kneel" at least two times from various weapon vendors around the city.)
Pretty sure the Tier 1 Nekomata is just a 'given' at the lowest level of crafting...like ammo. Unfortunately it comes without a scope so its value is limited. I always nab one as early as I can in Act 1...there are a couple of Police Scanner jobs where you can get one, and a cyberpsycho that shows up after The Pickup has a decent Tier 2 model.
@@r1pbuck My bad, I should have been more specific - I have Tier 5 crafting spec for Nekomata in my game.
@@KristoffDoe Ah...I get you. I have that crafting spec too, but it doesn't come until you've covered a lot of ground in Act 2. I found mine on the cliff where a journo is spying on the Arasaka estate, overlooking a Police Scanner job. I don't know if it's always there or if it's a random drop. I've usually found a high-Tier Nekomata before then in any case.
@@r1pbuckIf that's the spot I'm thinking, this may very well be the confirmed spot for the Nekomata spec. I also found my tier five spec there. Recorded the location on my Xbox.
I came here to be disappointed by how my beloved Panams gift ranked and left satisfied. Thanks!
I hope the scamazon weapons will be made available through regular gameplay at some point.
They appear very rarely in Dogtown Airdrops.
You aren't missing much. The only really worthwhile one is the Chesapeake Smart SMG, and the generic Warden SMG is hardly inferior. The only real advantage to those drops is that you get them early in the game before entering Dogtown.
The overwatch is my favorite sniper rifle with the built in silencer and a gift from my girl Panam
Another one🥹🥹🥹 Sam, you're spoiling us now💜💜💜💜
Something really interesting about the Rasetsu. The "scope" is actually a link to your Optical Cyberware so you can get the full zoom even under OpiCam. The fact that it isn't Silenced means it's not a top-tier option for a sneak build but it's still a neat little bit of info.
Rasetsu just feels so satisfying with the multiple enemy hits, plus you can add the micro generator for some extra electrical damage. Def my fav sniper on the list
Great video Sam! I understand why the O'Five is ranked low but it's still a lot of fun.
Great video ! SMGs coming up next I suppose ?
Overwatch is excelent in very hard mode, where playing stealth helps for the most of the playthrough and leveling up. While it doesn't take out enemies with skull on their heads with one shot, it's a good finisher when combined with quickhacks.
I love Rasetsu, especially when firing it while under Kerenzikov, the gun just wails/howls in the moment of a slo-mo shot. Need to run with Breakthrough a bit, kinda forgot about it.
IMHO Breakthrough lost its top spot to the regular Nekomata with PL. I think with the wallpuncher mod that gives you 200% charge and the same armor piercing ability as Breakthrough and tier 5 Gaki scope that keeps the weapon at half charge minimum the regular Nekomata gets ahead of it. You can also slap another mod of your choice if you can find a version that takes 2 mods and that’s a plus too.
Good to see someone else found this lol
Although Breakthrough is a lot easier to find than that scope.
You may be right but I doubt you use a Normal Neko for literally everything in game so I'd rather use Wallpuncher on the spare gun. But Hell, if you do ONLY use a pimped out Neko for everything, man you're fricking Nova Choom !!!
@@fredtott4684 Well, I use Pariah for stealth, Raiju for vehicle combat on that build. But yea I use Neko for all other combat occasions :)
I just enjoy slapping a Pax mod on a Grad, making it a """"non-lethal"""" anti-material rifle that fires at least a .50-cal-sized projectile, with a bang that can be heard from a mile away and, even if a headshot would somehow leave a gonk at the end of the barrel alive, they'll probably walk away with a missing jaw, a faceful of crushed cyberwares and a killing headache. If I could name my weapon I'd call it "Irony".
Too bad they removed the cyberware that turns every gun non-lethal. Playing a non-lethal stealth-sniper with Overwatch was too OP....
Neko is the best one if you happen to get a T5 tech sniper scope from airdrop, it gets to stay at half charge all the time, giving it effectively pistol level charge of .75/.5 secs depend on variant.
Incidentally this also allows the gun to spam 3/4 bolts in quick succession cause half charge is just outside the sweet spot and once you proc lightning storm (the one that increase charge time by 10%), you can basically tap fire bolts which is pretty crazy.
I honestly wouldnt take Rasetsu over Neko in any case, not being able to charge from hipfire just feels cumbersome. Neko is already one shotting everything anyway.
Okay, thank you! I recently watched a sniper ranking video that popped up in my feed and they didn't even have Breakthrough on the list...I was loosing my mind LOL I use Breakthrough in my build so I was dumbfounded. I mean, personal preference and all is fine, but still.
The nekomata is number one on my list given that you can attach the epic scope that comes with a built in battery making your nekomata be always at 50% charge, add to that the mod that allows you to charge tech weapons to 200% and you have a head shot beast that is super confortable to shoot on hip fire mode
I like how my and your V look similar, its cool. Its also funny that my build doesn't *really* support snipers, even tho i always get headshot crits with them.
My build(at least for me)is all over the place 😂
I'll say, installing microgenerator on your hands, turns all your Ashura shots into Electrical blasts
Breaththrough is the one sniper I've been using semi-regularly. I do enjoy a good smart sniper, though, at least at sufficiently long ranges in sufficiently open areas.
I love the Rasetsu because it has hints of the same firing sounds as the Type-7 particle weapon from F.E.A.R and its magazine makes it look like you're reloading a cassette player. The biggest downside with it is that it has no regard whatsoever for civilians when it comes to its ability to bounce shots between targets, so it's less than ideal when it comes to hostage situations.
I got a Foxhound from one of the crate drops.
No Prime or anything.
Ah thanks for mentioning. I guess prime must them directly to your stash though they can still be potentially looted in crates then even if not yet added on prime. Good to know!

Sammy the Brammy back with another banger video
I love shooting through floors with snipers
On some gigs that take place in smaller buildings, the Breakthrough is really funny as you can just stand across the street and kill everyone in the building through the walls
I FOUND KNEEL IN THE WILD.
When we go to that party with Songbird and play roulette with the runners.
When you first sneak in to that balcony spot and then start walking towards the doors to the main hall, keep walking all the way to the end of the balcony. There is a box on the ground with KNEEL in it.
You kind of alluded to it, but Rasetsu's ability to stack its own ability to hit multiple targets with Bolt/Chain Lightning gets at what, imo, brings out its best qualities-- synergy with the bait+ request backup combo, as well as (via late game engineering perks), the ability to use legendary contagion and detonate it via chain lightning's burn.
20 Tech, 20 Cool, 10-15 Int (to taste-- you're not a dedicated runner, but a three-slot quickhack qeue and overclock is nice for spamming out the main three + misc control options)... the rest is negotiating between Body and Reflexes. (AKA do you just like the style/utility of air dash, or do you feel the need to have adrenaline)
@josephtripp1696 footage?
I was going for a new katana/sniper build but I wasn't planning on speccing into tech, it sucks to see the top 4 are all tech snipers. I might have to reconsider my build altogether
Each time this guy upload, I do a little yippee
I usually keep breakthrough in my stash to show off on the wall now. Kinda forgot how OP it was after they patched out crafting multiple iconics 😅
Yasha is just something else, 441 damage per shot can guarantee single-shot at elites with very high chance even when their HP bar doesn't flash fully
The Osprey is basically a juiced up SOR-22. Even the whole "scoped headshots increase hipshot shots damage" essentially says it is a close to mid range weapon. Definitely feels like they changed its classification just for balance
Sam, you should try the Ping > Chain lightning > Contagion combo with Breakthrough. It wreaks havoc in a crowded setting. You need the Engineer skill 55 and tier 4 or 5 Contagion. Tier 5 iconic contagion is bugged so it won't work.
Yeah, if any of the poisoned folks struck by chain lightning ignite they go off like a bomb. COmbo that with the tech perk that enhances ALL explosion damage on targets under any quickhack effect = WOW.
Osprey can also be acquired from the black market vendor after Phanrom Liberty.
I’ve been using breakthrough forever just for the looks, and it’s like the railgun from mgs2
While the Osprey isn't a good sniper rifle from sniper rifle standards, for the way I like to play it's very fun. Just dashing in and around enemies firing barrages of shots at anyone around. It may not be the most effective gun in the sniper category, but god damn does it rank really high in fun factor for me
I've got a video request if you find you have the time. I don't want to do every NCPD hustle. I wouldn't have ever known about Breakthrough if it weren't for this video. Perhaps if you've got time, a video detailing which NCPD's to do to get unique stuff would be appreciated.
I was rocking maiko's pistol and Overwatch with stealth build but it was tough since 2.0 damage/leveling of enemy has changed.
Maybe it's time to go for something that is more offensive and explosive
12:58 did he shoot through the scope!?
Hello! Can you maybe make a video of your personal top 10 favorite guns in the game? That'd be lovely! Thanks
I will do at some point I'm sure, after I've finished this series
SOR 22 with Preem Weaponsmith is GOAT
Sam, new challenge.
Can you create an 'all weather build' that balances so that you can have one of each top weapon with supporting cyberware, mods and perks?
Sparky goes really well with sandevistan and its design looks very similar to scalpel
I tend to use Overwatch, but then my play style is more, thin the herd, quick hack the rest, then mop up. But my style is generally informed by training and strategic thinking. Granted, it varies game to game based on what's possible, but generally that's how I go about it, controlling the situation as much as possible.
Is the ashura good to pair with a microgenerator cyberware? Since every reload will buff the next shot with 250 or more electrical damage?
Rasetsu also comes with an integral suppressor, the curving shots just alert enemies anyways so you never notice it.
Hipfiring the rifle allows you to use it for stealth at close range, since the curving shots don’t activate without charging Rasetsu.
Don't know if anyone will see this, but the Foxhound is currently available now from Twitch. (2/29)
How do you do it?
The ND1 Osprey reminded me how bad i suck at FPS games. Even with the Apogee's help I'm still so bad at aiming those hip fired headshots.
My amazing amount of misses with Ashura led me to believe the rifle is bugged, so I moved to Breakthrough.
The """smart""" ammo won't maneuver around obstacles if you're aiming directly at your target. This normally doesn't come up with mid to short range smart-guns since there's usually less between you and your target.
Ashura though, yeah, you usually need to hold the barrel above or left/right of your target so it can curve around cover and hit.
I've seen Yasha's gyrojets literally bent around the target's head and miss before lol The guy was standing in the open too
O 5 is goofy asf, love that gun
Now that my V has Erebus, Rasetsu, and Hercules, it's really hard to equip anything else. Breakthrough might technically be better (for anything but MaxTac), but I just love the Rasetsu.
The only snipers worth using are the iconic techs. Breakthrough for killing everyone behind walls and rasetsu for everyone on sight. Power rifles offer no advantages and smart lock on whatever and often simply miss
I've gotten Foxhound to drop! It's in the game - it's from Airdrops. It's okay, but I personally find a normal, moddable Nekomata or Breakthrough better. The one thing I wish I could do with Breakthrough is put a Tier 5 Tech Sniper Scope to halve its Charge Time.
Breakthrough is basically the Farsight from Perfect Dark on the N64 🛸
Such a great game and so far ahead of its time
Is there a setting in option menu where charge shots dont fire unless i let go of the charge/shoot button? Cuz i hate charging and waiting a sec or 2 while enemy is opening fire at me.
I really hope they give Overwatch a stealth damage bonus like any other gun with a sliencer would have. Its insane that Pride, Her Majesty and La Chingona Dorada, etc. are better at sniping enemies from afar in stealth then Overwatch is.
I got a cyberdeck with epic blind hack and extra headshot damage and it spreads
Great for breakthrough or a moded neko
Nice work. Nekomata is craftable from start, for free. i Havent played the last 3 month, but i dont think, its gotten patched out.
I don't see the use of deepfield interface when you have the last cool perk for guaranteed crits
all is well and good in the world (breakthrough is top like it should be)
Great video! I really like playing the sniper early game. I have a question tho:
How do i get legendary implants from ripperdocs? I am street cred 50 and still only have epic ones. Is it a matter of the player level or something else? Thanks! :)
It's level dependant I believe rather than street cred. I think it's around level 40 that legendary unlocks
@@SamBram Ah thank you so much! Been wondering about that…
Kinda miss the unnerfed Overwatch. Being able to take out patrolling NPCs before moving in was invaluable in a silent run but now I have to move in and plan out an approach up-close, which has more potential to go wrong
Breakthrough is the king of, "You can run, but you can't hide..."
Given the 1-shot headshot on any regular enemy, you can't run either
Used the overwatch sniper with a katana and throwing knife, most fun setup
My exact setup too. Overwatch, satori and nehan
As a stealthy Netrunner I will never ever favor anything above the Overwatch. Combine that with the System Collapse quickhack, be mindful of which enemies you can one shot with it, do silent manual takedowns on the stronger ones and you'll never fall into combat outside of the scripted ones
Does anyone have a bug, that for some reason after you romance Panam makes Overwatch a quest weapon? And it only disabled when i tried any of the endings and came back when i continued the game post-ending.
I think you need to meet Hanako at Embers
Nah, she can wait. I haven't ranked every weapon in 2.0 yet
A bit late. But I recently found the Nekomata crafting spec off of a Wraith boss from a suspected organized crime activity in the middle of the east Badlands. Check there.
What the roundup really misses is just how powerful legendary mods are. Wallpuncher is a big damage boost, and a Legendary Gaki scope reduces charge time by 50% (!), doubling your ROF. IIRC, the iconic Nekomatas cannot use any of these mods, which makes the base Nekomata the best by quite a bit. If you don't have either of those mods, then that changes things, though 2.1 should make it a fair bit easier to get a Legendary Gaki.
Hey man I gotta ask, when you were talking about builds I noticed that you somehow got cool and technical to level 20 and the others to level 15, how did you get so much attribute points? I've gotten to level 60 and I havent been able to get that many attribute points.
also if anyone is wondering gorilla arms give you an extra 6 body attribute points so only make your body go to 14
I was confused by it too at first but I realised it’s probably because you get free attribute points in the character creation and then you can get 81 attribute points in total for levelling up. 81 can only be the max amount if you have phantom liberty tho
@@VeryDAWD Yeah but he has 85 attribute points total which is 4 more than the max which is what weirded me out.
