I greatly appreciate Dr. Beam's observation beginning at 5:36 about people of great strength, who remain calm and relaxed, who choose (non-reactively) not to accept the reactionary behavior of their significant other. They demonstrate that they value both their lover and themselves.

I have 27 years of marriage and my wife disrespects me more now than ever. I don’t understand what the problem is, but it sucks. What am I supposed to do?

32 years here. I took an oilfield job out of state 12 years ago. Now I get some rest after a 12 hour shift instead of a honey do list.

There is an emotional disconnection that is due to an issue that has been resolved. That issue could have been lingering for a while. You need to be able to listen and hear each other to find out the issue and resolve it.

Not everyone had good example of healthy disagreements and resolving conflicts. Many people struggle to express what they need without attacking and criticizing. It needs to be learned and practiced until they become the default mode.

Thank you Sir. Now I want to say that so I am trying to stay calm when talk to him about his disrespectful behavior and words, but he always says that he didn’t say anything wrong or he was just kidding Or that he has PTSD and I should understand that!! I just don’t know how to deal with this anymore 😔

I am so grateful for these people at marriage I do not know what they believe but I believe they must know God in some way and that nobody is better than anyone else it's such a beautiful thing to hear them talk and to hear the truth about how everybody can redeem themselves or even their marriages and become better people. think God for this amazing place of true peace and consideration of others
