UBOAT is a new Submarine Simulator that just dived into early access. It is a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics while its primary theme is life of German sailors. The boat is their home, but it can become their grave at any time.
In UBOAT you control the crew in order to control the boat. You look after their physical and mental health, because if the sailors are hungry, tired and their spirit is low, there’s no chance of winning even a skirmish. - Ігри

My Dad was in the Dutch Merchant Marine during WW2 doing Atlantic convoys. At the start of the war the ship he was on was significantly faster than most of the ships in the convoy and traveling at low speed their stack would soot up and start throwing out embers. Every day prior to night fall they would have to do laps around the convoy to make sure their stack was clear for the night.

My Grandfather was a Marine and Powerhouse Engineer, also in the Dutch Merchant Marine.
Except in extremis they would quietly notify him when they were about to be engaged as they would lock the hatches to Engine Rooms from above once they were engaged to ensure maximum effort from the Engine Crew.
Things were complicated by having a mixed crew of Dutch, Ex Pat Germans, Indonesians, Papuans and West Africans.
I gather it was as tense as one might imagine.

Imagine a game where they mix Uboat with Destroyer: The Uboat Hunter. Players as destroyers and uboats fighting over a convoy. That would be absolutely epic!
They have one in steam! Its still in Early Access, and on sale till Jan 5th...

@@user-gz3ht5cf9g "Destroyer The U-Boat Hunter" its on early release on steam, currently no story mode, it is singe player, but they have 4 "game modes" (as of right now) easy/medium/hard and custom.

I really wish they added a multiplayer mode to this game, I feel like it gets boring too quickly, as the convoys and missions are pretty much the same every time.
It doesn't need multiplayer. There's something missing here that adds variety/replayability and silent hunter has, not quite sure what it is but for some reason that game doesn't make you feel like you're always doing the same thing. Maybe more varied shipping routes? More uboats? Harder to spot convoys?
@@alterlunin6953 eh when i talk about multiplayer for this game its more of a coop campaign with everyone having command of a boat so you can actually effectively play as a wolfsrudel
Honestly what would be brilliant for a game like this, is a drop in multiplayer surface mode. What I mean by that is a mode where you control surface ship/s, you could queue for action, whenever a single player engages a fleet real players would get a chance to command those fleets or a ship in them like a destroyer, so you would have real human level intelligence hunting your sub. I imagine that would be very fun indeed. Not saying it's going to happen in this game, but I would love to see something like it one day.
@@unocualqu1era I think it's the fact that SH was a line of simulators, whereas this is a Submarine *management* simulator. SH is further differentiated from other sub-sims by its de-facto Open world Environment.
*The "nobody asked" Part:* I have never played any of these but I am certain that SH would have more replayability than other sub Games, probably caused in Part by these characteristics.

Yeah, there are many opinions on how u-boat game should be, even when not touching multiplayer. Unfortunately, few developers make games about u-boats and they too have ideas.
If counting u-boat multiplayer games there are few worked concepts that I am aware of:
1. Silent Hunter multiplayer. Few players, each command their own uboats and attack convoy in area.
2. Wolfpack. More or less as above, but also another cooperative aspect: players actually take officer positions on a uboat. So it is one or more player-crewed uboats hunting for a convoy in area.
3. Crush Dive. Rather bizarre and not concrete project which promises players to be on interactable uboats as crew during campaign. But for now as I know they mostly have a really good museum.
IMHO: crew and campaign manager I think should be more singleplayer experience, because multiplayer gameplay mostly shines when there is a common goal. If players just sail and hunt in different parts of the world, it will only drain game resources without any real purpose and interaction. Player uboats would shine when coordinating a wolfpack tactic, but that is more or less covered in other games. Aside from what is mentioned above there could be rather competitive goal like tonnage sunk, but for that a scoreboard will suffice. Other than that, i don't know. Few crazy uboat aces (players), while could sink RN three times, won't avert Axis defeat (at least in Uboat, as stated by DWS).

Hint, I don't know if it is modelled, but in case it is: Try shooting the magnetic torpedoes with slower speed instead of max speed. That way their sensor has more time to detect the magnetic field emitted by the ship's hull. Also the less the aiming angle is in 90 degree and more parallel to the ship, more time the torpedo is going to run under the ship and thus more time to detect the magnetic field.
yeah, slower and closer to keel seems to be more reliable. xD
having 2m depth difference is pretty big. xD
@@PerfectDeath4 in real life, only direct impact weapons went off on purpose; and magnetic weapons were meant to detonate below the keel, as it caused a bubble of air that would allow the target boat to raise up and down violently enough it broke the keel. This is how modern day torpedoes work as well. Former torpedoman’ mate USN.
@@bobsuncle7958 yeah, modern torpedoes are scary. But WW2 magnetic torps were also scary... due to their unreliability. =P
Sure, it would do a lot if it blew up 2m under the boat, but I feel that ww2 magnetic pistols have a hard time detecting the ship that far away going that fast. Games sometimes make them more reliable than what i've read. =\

@@PerfectDeath4 and to add…the MK48 ADCAP went around this design with a wire. It’s actually steerable from the boat until it’s onboard sonar goes active. Truth be told, all torpedoes are unreliable to some extent.

I'm amazed at your accuracy and ability to do multiple attacks like that. Every time I go into a convoy and hit a single ship, everyone goes f'n berserk and starts running with no chance of catching up xD

Back when War on the Sea was in Early Access, someone in Agrippa Maximus's Channel had recommended you to me and now after finding Several Gems in Areas like the Anime Community with "Girls und Panzer" and "Azur Lane", continuing to plan out the Massive, Massive, *MASSIVE* Invasion of the Island of Donkk in the Stormworks: Build and Rescue Community with the Release of the Weapons DLC as well as the Landings at the South Sawyer Islands Fishing Village here I am. Nice to finally see some Black Swan-class Sloop's of War in a Sub game, I wonder if the 4 Types of the Hunt-class Destroyers are in this game too? If anyone wants to watch a piece of History about the Black Swan's finest hour after V-J Day, I Highly recommend you guys watch the 1956 movie "The Amethyst Incident", it had the HMS Amethyst herself for the shots where she was beached in the Yangtze Kiang and Her Sister, HMS Magpie, was used for the Shots of Amethyst being on the move because by then Amethyst had been pulled from service and even had her Engines Removed Completely.

It is a realistic and exciting game, but it is completly unpossible to attack again without destroyer reaction after the first torpedo hit the target.

how do you calculate the angle on bow? everytime when I do that like i'm told it fire the torpedo straight towrds the target and becuase the target moves it misses, can you explain how you do it?

Ive never played, and i hope to be able to find a pc builder that can put together something that can run this for me, but i watch your videos on it along with others who have played, but i was wondering, because you had a couple torpedoes that ran under, what if you staggered your depths between torpedoes when you let off more than one at a time would that reduce the chances of them running under and if they are magnetic or fat reduce the chance of them coming back for you

seas are devoid of convoys for me since recnt updates. I gave up doing mabe
5 patrols, not one ship sighted.
The BDU report mod is a must, or convoys are too hard to find
And can we assume you sit underwater listening too? The passive sonor is by far the longest range when on patrol.

Question: is it possible to target shoot and then target another and shoot prior to the first target being hit? If so how many can be strung together?
Yes it is, but you need a good solution on all of the contacts if you want to hit
The default targeting mechanics allow that, you just punch in the numbers into their speed, range, bearing, and distance. Then when you target one and fire a torpedo it will use the numbers input. You can switch to targeting the next one and it will also use those numbers.
So it really comes down to how you organize the attack. Often I use the compass to draw a circle on the map and when the ships arrive into that circle I know what range and bearing they will be at and can quickly launch.
Wolf here is just doing it by the seat of his pants when going for targets of opportunity, which is what you gotta do for the time when the convoy is alert and in panic mode. =P
There is no camo for this U boat doesn't it shine while submerged? At PD or shallow depth it should shine metal like.
They are painted like that to reduce shining as much as possible

unbelievable sized unescorted convoy, shame there wasn't a wolf pack waiting for them as it would of been a total massacre, yeah loved it wolf some great hunting before you even start the main mission.
