- Don’t have a spare 60 grand for the full-fat 503bhp Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio? Why worry when the more affordable everyday versions of Alfa’s newest saloon are just as pretty to look at and just as good?
Here in the UK, the best-selling model is likely to be the 178bhp 2.2-litre diesel, which is fast enough to hit 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds but still efficient enough to return up to 67.3mpg with 109g/km of CO2.
There’s more too, as the Giulia is fantastic to drive, comes packed with kit and features probably the most driver-focused interior in its class. But would you have one over a BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 or Mercedes-Benz C-Class?

I have done just under 20,000 miles in mine and no paint or anything has worn off. The paintwork is great too and much better than German rivals withstanding cretins banging their door into my car and no paint chips. It is exceptionally good to drive and in my opinion worth taking a punt on the long term reliability. The reputation that Alfa have re reliability is a little unfair and should not let that put you off if you are considering one. Alfa also scored very well in the latest reliability surveys which is testament to the hard work and financial resource that is currently being ploughed into Alfa. Sounds like I work for them or something, I don’t I am just an accountant who likes cars and think this car is brilliant. I could never pick a 3 series, A4 or C Class over this.

The beautiful car that everyone hates. I find it very nice and, if I had enough money, I would love to buy it. Here in Italy there are lots of Giulias on the road.
The offset front plate is something that adds to the beauty.

Pretty certain the 2.0 petrol has 197bhp and not the 179bhp he says. Also pretty certain it makes me incredibly sad to know that off the top of my head.

Correct. The 2.0 TBi comes in 200 PS (197 HP) and 280 PS (276 HP) "Veloce" versions. Maybe he's secretly half German, so he sometimes reads numbers in German fashion.

Own a Giullia Ti Q2 in the US - 280 BHP version only here, handles nearly as well as my old Cayman S, very much enjoy the car - the infotainment system really is the only disappointing thing I find about the vehicle.
how do you like the drive by wire brakes?
Can be a little "jolty" at lower speeds and lacks a little bit of feel, the steering is also a little lighter then than I would have hoped for (personal taste) - but neither of these things are particularly bothersome

Okay boys, 440i or Giulia? I know, I know... i4 vs i6 blah blah blah. Seriously though, which one and why? Yes, the 440i is faster, but Giulia Ti Q4 would save me money, fuel, yet handles well, is quick enough (5 sec 0-60 is enough).
Jia L. As someone who has a 328i, and has driven the 340i (which is seriously fast) I'd lean towards the Giulia. The BMW's are the most sporty German option, but the handling is not as sharp as I'd like it to be. That is where the Giulia excels and I'd recommend the adaptive suspension for both of the cars. The 280 bhp is plenty quick for me as well which is why it's the car I'm looking at right now.
Wow this is exactly my issue ! I have a e90 335i and want a Giulia Q2 but I feel like I'll have a hard time giving up the extra cylinders and power. I don't care for the f30 so we'll see. I probably will wind up getting the Giulia, but will keep the bimmer at least another year or two.
Wow, I've got a Q4 280hp Giulia and it's awesome, but the M4 is so much more powerful don't you miss the power? I agree with you about the compliments though, the Giulia is constantly turning heads while people don't even bother to look at a 3 series or 4 series even if it's an M car.

Could you explain whats up with that lights? I noticed them too but couldn't figure out the problem
When brake heavily the hazards come on to alert other drivers. Some German cars do this too. Mr Watson does moan about this but the brakes on this are immense and can break in a shorter distance than most cars on the road so is kind of useful if don’t want a rear end shunt
David Yule - Yeah, it comes with Brembo brakes standard, and reviewers have said the brake-by-wire system is hard to modulate (for smooth stops)...so, probably a good feature.
In answer to the title of this video; of course not. How about the Alfa 156, 159, Citroen DS, CX, Xantia, Lancia Gamma, NSU Ro80, Jaguar XJ6?
Mark StJust no, only one 159 was the best, it was the top of design, hardly something better can be done, like new Giulia isn't such amazing beautiful as 159
